  • @MFEGoingDeep finally with timing and conditions cooperating I was able to spend an afternoon exploring under the ice around steamship point on Moosehead Lake. When I first started the channel and began looking into different ideas and places, the sunken steamships of Moosehead Lake was the most suggested/requested thing I’ve continuously heard and once I began researching I’ve grown extremely interested as well. This is 1 of 3 wrecks around this point that I had a look at. There’s quite a bit of info regarding the Twilight I found online with a quick google search. It sank in the winter of 1921 right at its mooring at steamship point from damage caused by ice. Amazing to think it’s been in the water more than 100 years now with of course all its time above the surface running the Lake.

I was actually surprised to find a foot of ice around the point already, I would’ve taken a snowmobile instead of walking for sure! 😂

Fascinating! Any idea what we were looking at? Are the little floaties always in the water or being stirred up by drone? Still wanna see you do
    Flagstaff someday:)

Yes the “twilight” is one of a few sunken steamships in the lake that’s what this video is documenting I’m assuming that’s what you’re asking 😊 the floaty things I see pretty much everywhere I go, I know I stir up some of it but they’re present everywhere. I’ve heard them described as dissolved solids of particles, I think sometimes it’s plankton or something like that too if you watch closely you’ll see them dart around sometimes. Flagstaff is definitely happening, I need to research some specific areas to look and also been waiting on some safe ice which looks like is finally happening 👍

Hence the title “twilight”. Duh. Thought it was time of day! Thanks!

From what I read this was the most shallow wreck. How far down was it? I’ve been curious about these for years. I’ve been wanting to snorkel this and potentially dive the deeper wrecks. Do you know if groups still explore the area?

Yes this was in more shallow basically starting from shore down to like 30’. I’m sure there are groups that still do some diving but couldn’t find much for activity online for the last few years in doing research myself. There isn’t any shore access but they do rent boats on the lake and it’s not a hard area to find and get to.

Do you have an idea why on my evo the watermarks don't work when recording in 4k60? 🥲
Awesome video BTW. Dude, always enjoying your stuff!

Thanks! I noticed mine didn’t seem to like 4k60, almost made the feed seem glitchy and like you said no watermarks so I’ve just kept it at 4k30 and called it good.
