  • This video is about Mitsubishi M100, or previously the MRJ70 and the Embraer E175-E2, a re-engined version of the popular E175. Both these aircraft have newer more fuel effcient engines and techologies though that does add weight to both. Both manufacturers are modifiying theri designs for these aircraft to fir in scope clauses, but which is best? Watch this epic comparison to find out!

Not trying to be rude but at 4:01 that is incorrect information. Embraer says the E2-175 can fly up to 2000 nm and the E175 can fly up to 2200 nm. I have firsthand witnessed it fly over 2000 nm on a flight from DTW to LAX. The airline I used to work for daily flew an E170 or E175 between DTW and MTY and that is nearly 1300 nm. I would promptly take the Embraer product over Mitsubishi. The Mitsubishi has been lingering in production and testing delay for over 6 years. Whereas the Embraer factory and engineering have been churning out product numbers at a high rate for much longer. Remember, those percentages of operational efficiency gains only affect in-service aircraft. What happens when you don't have parts to sustain your maintenance cycles? Embraer is well in front of Mitsubishi and Airbus A220 in their fleet support network.

Not at the gross weight required by the Scope Clauses, then range is as he stated.

    Some misinformation.
The E175-E2 is unfortunately not a typical case of shrink inefficiency. In a simple shrink variant, the airframe is shorten but retained the same capable wing and engines of its larger siblings. This results in a smaller body with and over powerful engine which leads to inefficiency.
However this is not the case for the E175-E2. It has a smaller wings and engines, that is different from its larger E190/E195 siblings and this helps it to avoid the inefficiency that results from a simple shrink. In fact, looking back at the history, the E175-E1 was the original E-jets variant with the E170-E1 being the shrink and the E190-E1 being the stretched variant . The only disadvantage it has is the older, heavier fuselage that was inherited from the E1.
No doubt the MRJ M100 will still be better in terms of fuel economy but it also comes bigger uncertainty in maintenance and reliability. Thus both jets are extremely close in terms of total overall cost of ownership.

Ching Wei Xion Thanks for letting me know! Wow I did not know that the E175-E2 was not a shrink but rather a stretch though this shows that Embraer did engineer the aircraft well. Thanks for watching and if you have not done so do consider subscribing and stay tuned for more videos!

@@oneskyflyer the original 170/175 share the same wing and engine. The 190/195E1 employ other engine and bigger wings. The E2 familiy shows 2 engines (175 vs 190/5) and three diferent bespoke wings.

mitsubishi was hoping to capture the us market with mrj, but now that boeing bought embraer, things are going to change. there are certainly more incentives for airlines in US to buy embraer than buy from a foreign owned company. with that being said, china has its own arj21 as well, so if japan misses out both american and chinese market, what will be left for them?

It is NOT TRUE that MRJ has higher maintenance costs and a weaker support network. In fact, MHI recently acquired Bombardier to support this airplane, and the PW1200 is cheaper to maintain than the PW1700, so the facts were not correct on this.

  • @ianendangan7462

Amazing analysis, BUT experience of airlines using these aircraft will dictate the future market. Remember Airbus in the 70's, the A300 is a hard sell too but they offered free 3 A300 for them to use to an American airline. In the end, the airline bought more, and that how it sold it's reputation in the US. While in places like my Philippines, the Airbus rules because purchases from Boeing always has that political "conditions" such as purchasing security machines for airport supplied by an American company so the Philippine Airlines can qualify on that category so it can land at more airports in the USA.

Please correct your English. When one compares two things or two kinds of things, one must use the word "better" rather than "best." "Best" is used when there are MORE THAN TWO THINGS being compared. So you got it right in the title of the uploaded video, but the video itself gets it wrong. Let us respect our languages by adhering to their grammatical rules.

Embraer can save 737- Max, including the planes already in use, with a "transplant" of wings + the plane landing gear. In fact, the entire median section - containing the wings & the landing gear - minus the engines, in order to lift the engines. Therefore, MCAS won't be needed.
