It made me laugh when discovered the bits of fabric sewn to the back! I love how you show that there is really very little to panic about when sewing! Nice job, Rachel keep up the good work!😉
I've just sewed many little dresses as peg bags. This project is really cute Usually when I work on a project that need to be symmetric I only draw one side and I turn it on the other side in order to obtain a perfectly symmetrical pattern
For me, in the USA we had a clothesline outside when I was very little, but we got a dryer just a few years later. I have a dryer in my apartment as well. However, at my partners appartment in Finland there is a separate room in the basement next to the washing room with clothes lines, a heater, and fans on the ceiling. Not enough air movement to worry about the clothes coming off the line, but enough to help them dry faster. No need for pegs there, but I will probably make a few of these little bags anyway! Perfect for holding small things, I am thinking socks and maybe plastic bags. Maybe cookie cutters as well?
Lovely and useful project. I like that it is washable and will not disintegrate if forgotten outside in the sun unlike the plastic one from the store. Very clear tutorial. Thank you.
I'm glad you enjoyed it 😃 yeah it will be perfectly fine in the elements, although the fabrics may fade. I think the first one I made has faded in the last couple of years because I don't remember it being so pastel 🤣
This is really cute. I do have a clothes line to hang my laundry out in the summer. I think I'd sew the back & front together with the right sides facing out, then put the binding on the outside to frame it. Thanks for sharing your pattern & time.
I love your peg bag. I wish I had a hangar with that curvy shape because it makes such an interesting shaped bag. I really love the first one you made because I love how the foam gives it such a defined opening and I love pastels. Loved this tutorial.❤️❤️
Hi Rachel, just wanted to say thank you for this excellent tutorial! I've watched it about 50 times over and followed along to make my first proper from scratch diy project. I didn't end up quilting, just used one outer fabric and another lining fabric. I also finished the inside edges by pinking and snipping the shoulders and zigzag stitching the three straight edges. I couldn't be happier with the end result, so thanks again for sharing!
"Still hangs her sheets out"? Why, where do other people hang them? I mean, of course, when it's raining, you have to take them inside so they don't get wet, but otherwise, do you hang your clothes inside the house? Under the sun it's more hygienic, the sun also takes care of many stains on whites.
You always impress me with your graciousness. I loved this tutorial and can't wait to make a "peg bag" for my little granddaughter. I love the English fabrics also. TX
Thank you so much Rachel I really really enjoyed watching you create this beautiful and unique Pen Bag. I really really love ❤❤❤❤ this idea. It’s a great idea too. Please stay safe and well too xxxx Mags ❤❤❤❤
I just found your channel and this bag is so cute and useful. I am going to try to make one smaller for a thread catcher by my sewing machine. I look forward to watching more of your videos.
Very Cute and Useful Bags! Couple of suggestions to consider for your bag: (1) if you want the raw edges on the inside not to fray, either serger them or overcast them and thereby you won’t have so much bulk on those inside seams; and (2) fold your paper or card stock in half lengthwise and draw along the upper edge of the hanger from edge to the center of the hanger, then cut it 1/4” above the drawn line; and when you open your pattern piece you will have a symmetrical piece for your front and back of the bag. (3) us this same process for the drawing the opening of the bag. I can see this bag being for many different items. Thanks for sharing with us the adorable idea.❤
I thought about doing a odd sock one in this sort of thing about a year ago and well i guess i haven't done it yet. And always wanted to do a crazy patchwork but never got to it yet. After watching your great tutorial you have got me motivated so tomorrow is the big day. I'm going to put both together and make one. I love your one.
Exactly what I needed. In-between projects at the moment, don't know what to do, but this will definitely fill a gap and use up some more scrappy stash. Thank you very much.
Thank you for this tutorial! I made one that was similar a few weeks ago but I didn't use batting nor a lining, so I plan on taking it apart and remaking it the way you advised. Greatly appreciated!
I am delighted to find your u tube , the peg bag is something I have been wanting to make. I will look forward to many more videos, you are a pleasure to watch. Thanks🇨🇦
Hi, awesome. What a fabulous job. I was thinking you could make the peg bag style storage container for Sox, or small things In The kitchen, or wardrobe for Sox or undies, and maybe with a little bit of adjustment, keeping the coat hangers (2) for structure support you could easily make a bag. Thank you. Kia Ora from. Ew Zealand. Lovely sewing, thank you. :)😊
LOL. I actually MADE an ugly peg bag a few years ago, in desperation to have SOMETHING to put the pegs in. Had ' make a new Peg Bag' on my list of 'to do's' for a year but couldn't find a pattern I liked. Just made one using Rachel's instructions and it's beautiful!
It took me a little while to figure out what pegs are. My grandmother and mother had these bags hooked to the clothes lines. We called the pegs clothes pins. Very handy.
Just loved it. Any ideas what else to use it for? I have a dryer in my laundry room so no need for clothes pins as we call them here. Surly there is another use for something so darling!!! Jean Colorado USA
Love this idea. I’ve never done quilt as you go and really want to try. It’s a refreshing change to find someone from the UK! You sound like you are from the Midlands near me.
I make patchwork peg bags but l use children's wooden coat hangers which l get from IKEA or Ebay,l sew my scrap fabric onto calico then line them, sometimes l make them reversible.

Yeah I love the colours on the first one
You could use a child’s clothes hanger. I prefer the way the pastel one holds its shape also.
Where I live in Australia, good quality plastic hangers break easily in the heat of summer in Queensland… Thanks for sharing on your channel ❤
Fellow Queenslander here. I have seen wooden children's coat hangers in Op Shops. I think I will scour them for some. These are a wonderful gift idea.

This is adorable! I'm going to make my mother one. She still hangs her sheets out . she'll love it. Thank you for a lovely tutorial.
I meant to add thank you for comparing the different interfacing, I think I like the batting as well 🙂

Just curious. How do you hang your laundry? Without pegs? It's not windy there?
