Croque Monsieur vs. Croque Madame (Recipes and More!)

- The Croque Madame, Croque Monsieur and Monte Cristo sandwiches all have very similar ingredients, but they are indeed different. The French sandwiches were all invented sometime in the early 1900s to serve hungry cafe patrons. In typical Battle of the Bites fashion we’re going to to make all of them from scratch then compare them at the end of the video to see which reigns supreme… let the battle begin! 🤘🏻Adam

I cam to cooking pretty late in life after my mother had passed away , your so lucky to be able to cook with your mom.
Sorry to hear that. Indeed, I am.
love the mom content yo. she seems like a cool ass lady
Thanks homie! She's a legend.
I'm on a diet and from what I have seen in this video my eyes are peer pressuring my stomach and mind to eat a block of cheese!! God help me! Great video x
Save it for cheat day :)
Oh... I miss my mum... She taught me how to cook and was taken WAY to early. Thank you Adam for sharing this with her, I bet she is bursting at the seams with pride for you. Cheers to all the Mema's! (spelling the best I could)
That's so cool! You can tell how proud she is of you!
Was in the military for 20 years and spent time in the middle east out in the field. For the french toast behind every ones back I like to add the equivalent of 1 1/2T pure vanilla not imitation to the egg/milk dip. When they say the military travels on their stomach or the way to mans heart through his stomach yup that little tweak did it. It ramps the powdered sugar effect.
Not sure if you done this one already but I wanna see chopped cheese vs Philly cheese
Great idea
best yt cook
Reminds me of cooking with my mom. Made me smile man.
Good stuff, any lad who cooks with his mum = respect.
Awesome sandwiches! Go Gigi!! We need a Mom video series 👍
That’s pretty awesome that you have a great relationship with your mom, and you can cook on a collaborative basis in the kitchen. I have that with my mom also, and it’s a great bonding experience, but often we get into fights. I don’t know about you guys. But anyway, I hadn’t seen the Montecristo version of this before. That’s definitely something worth trying ! Thank you for doing this! I am a relatively new subscriber but I’m starting to go through all your videos .
I'm new in this chanel and let me tell you there is a real diferent and positive vibe to it Congratulations you just gained a new fan in whatever you do
Love that mdm Cristo
great chemistry, great cooks!
Yay for OmnivoMom
Loving the vibe between you and your mum
I'm such a fckng idiot. He put the bread to the camera to smell and... I did. So dumb 😅 lol
Bread is perfect ! Congrat !
There's another cool version where you dip the whole sandwich in batter and deep fry.
Look for a video called - The MONTE CRISTO Sandwich /copycat recipe from Disneyland Blue Bayou
Any tips on reheating a Mornay so that it doesn’t turn out gritty? More often than not, I have some left over and it can be difficult to re-use.
I've always just nuked it in the microwave (aka Chef Mike) and stirred it vigorously before stirring it into something. It works well for me.
Not that it really matters but apparently authentic Monte Cristo and even Croque Monsieur / Madame do not have Mornay sauce but rather Bechamel and cheese and not Mornay per-se. Seasoning wise they are different even if mixed together. And Monte Cristo does not contain any Bechamel at all. The Blue Bayou version has onion jam in it and is fully submerged and dipped in crispy batter (not just egg and cream) and is entirely deep fried.
I don't personally care abut what's authentic and what's not but information is useful regardless.
For me, Croque Madame please. 👍
💛
Wow dude, you totally look like your Mom.
BTW- Do either of you know how to make beef, mushroom, & barley soup? It was my favorite soup that my Mom made but she took the recipe to her grave.
Trick 1 find fresh yeast Trick 2 use rest of fresh yeast before it goes bad
Monte Christo, hands down.
Monte Cristo beats them all.
This was a really awesome vid, but I’ve got to ask if you were deliberately pronouncing “monsieur” as “mahnn-SEE -your” to mess with your mom. 🤔
Thanks! You nailed it.
Matteo you're different now, in real life and on your yt
Sigma
She calls him… Baby, & why not?
Where’s dad
Father?
As you can tell from the excessive amount of cheese and the powdered sugar on top of a savory sandwich, a Monte Cristo is an American invention - not French :-)
must be sad to be the cameraman
He's actually quite a jolly bloke.
that's good to hear, I would die from simply only being allowed to watch you make and not consume your amazingly prepared food
