Everyone's talking about the kick, but what gets me everytime is the puff of air and sfx hat happens after such a soft looking landing at 1:06...
in the manga he didnt just kick the ball and score a goal, kaede also tripped and fell when she tried to dodge and he caught her as well, which makes more since when she says he saved her in a later scene
They changed the setting too. They were in bleachers in the manga not sitting on some steps.

I swear, this show is so self-indulgent and cliche, it borders on parody. I like it.
You are not wrong. I'm currently reading the novels. It's like I'm reading a fanfiction. The storyline is just that cheesey and cliche. The pacing is fast and the author adss is new elements and characters, so it's not boring. Rushed through 10 volume.

I really dislike that they removed some of the lines and moments from the writing about Kaede. I understand that Kaori is likely the focus character in the real world, with maybe an exception being otherworlders, going forward. But removing a lot of those scenes from Kaede removes the impetus of focusing on her character at all. Like they even downgraded this scene from the manga to make it less rediculous. In the human world characters like her matter a lot to him so it just seems weird to neuter her personality/dialogue wise.

I highly doubt it. He wouldn't be popular but I don't think he would be bullied. The glasses guy was an open otaku (nerd in Japan) and he was hanging around with a Jock. They seem to be good people.
