I built this kit, back when I was 8 years old. I’ve just recently purchased it, and I don’t remember how I built it back then! I’m trying to do something better, cause I’ve been building models since. But, it’s still challenging, even after all these years. I don’t remember how I did it back then, but I’m “Hell Bent” on making it a whole lot better, this time! I keep going back to your video, every once in a while, just to keep me informed. Thanks again! I know that I’ve thanked you, years ago, but I keep coming back to you, to keep me abreast, of what I’m trying to do, and lookout for any problems.
That is an absolutely beautiful build Doug. You know you are old when you remember this as a new issue! I liked the AMT truck kits but they did require a lot of care and forethought in assembly but they always looked good after they were built. Thanks for sharing this great review. By the way, I found a photo on the web of the real truck and AMT did a good job of researching this.
I just got my hands on this model in New Zealand. Your not kidding when it comes to the flashing and mold lines. Its everywhere. Took a whole day just to clean up parts. Will keep an eye out for that hood issue
HM,, We really try to give it to you straight and let you know the issues so you can make buying and building decisions. Our goal is to help modelers from becoming frustrated and finishing their builds. Thanks and please subscribe if you haven't already to help us reach more modelers. -Doug
Doug that is an awesome truck build right there! Definitely another one I plan on doing in the future. I saw the Richard Petty combo with this truck and I'd like to do that one! Excellent work and thank you for sharing!
Too bad about the radiator,Doug.Nice time to find out !! I think we all run into some kind of fit problem at some point.I don't care how good,or expensive, every kit has its problems.Still came out nice !!
I love the views he does, on a bad note is i have bout 4 of these already! Its gonna be a headache with the hood. I'd like to see his review on the Papa Truck.
Hi Douglas I just did a little searching and indeed that's how these kits were once packaged. My memories are in fact genuine. This kit made a real impression on me, proof enough that I'm commenting on your video. I'm pretty sure my affection for my big sister was cemented with her gifting me this great model kit.
Rick, I'm not positive but this tractor originally came out in 1970 and that kit was issued in 1971 so it should have been around that time! Please subscribe if you haven't already, to help us continue our mission to help more modelers! -
Doug, did you have any issue's with the Battery box installation, like the top piece being warped? Reason for asking is the Papa Truck did i believe you done the review on. Styrene will take care of that fix for the advance builder that knows how to work with Styrene material.
J - There wasn't a problem with the box but each model comes from a different mold and machine after they're all shipped it seems. Right-O about the styrene, anything can be scratch built! -Doug
Great build i just finished mine done up like a coke truck with 64 Rancharo coke decals made it look like a car show sponsor theme lol. I had same issues with rad and battery box I had to remove it so bed would fit . ✌Canada✌
Christine, This kit is no longer produced but you can still find it on eBay. -PS, please subscribe if you haven't already to help us reach more modelers! -Doug
Im building this kit now. I noticed you did away with the battery box on the driver's side. Also having issues with the hood fitting properly. But i plan to display it with the hood open. Its a Ford, so you know you gotta be under the hood alot 😂

Thanks for this, you done a nice job, im dreading situation with the hood. AMT always messes up something. Never fails! Thank you for the review
Jeremy - I think that if you remove some of the depth of the fan/radiator and place it back as far as you can it should fit. - Doug
Thank you sir!
You're welcome J. Let us know how it works out! -Doug
My first official model kit. Other than the hood issue it is great. Makes me feel better because until this video I thought I did something wrong.
Fantastic kit looks good in blue thanks for sharing your build
Thanks MC - I gotta say that silver/blue did turn out well! -Doug
Very good looking truck.
Thanks DB! -Doug
I really like the colour blue that you made up.
Kev - Thanks, it was just a mix of silver and blue metallics until it looked nice. -Doug
Too bad about the radiator,Doug.Nice time to find out !! I think we all run into some kind of fit problem at some point.I don't care how good,or expensive, every kit has its problems.Still came out nice !!

Good luck with it !
I built this probably 45 years ago. Got it for Christmas from my big sister. I seem to remember it came with a bonus of a Ford pinto funny car.
GH - That's good info for people expecting the bonus Pinto. Might cost a little extra now though! -Doug

What is the color you used?

Right On Replicas thank you for you reply so quickly even though I commented years after you posted the video!!! Good job on the model!👍😁
You're welcome KP! -Doug
Great build. I've always wanted to take the ramp bed, and put it on the Ford cab over chassis. Has anyone ever done this?
Steve, Now that's an ambitious project! -PS, please subscribe if you haven't already to help us reach more modelers! -Doug
Does this kit come with the tandem rears or any of the highway hauler parts?
DS, I don't remember this kit having any extra parts! -Doug
I had a similar problem. I trimmed the radiator down to fit inside the frame rails
AB, thanks for the tip! -Doug
Is this kit still available and where thanks
