    I found this video because I was wondering if I could do this myself, and if I needed any special tools. This looks pretty easy, and no special tools needed. Off to the hardware store I go!

      I found pro flex is a better connection but any way I used this type of fitting and maybe over tightened it I used a solution to check for leaks but it was dark and hard to apply so i bought a batter powered leak detector cost 25 dollars and checked my fitiing and found some very small leaks I got rid of this fitting and used a proflex found at lowes It is better

    Pretty good. I would check for leaks first before securing the flange to the floor.

    I suppose you might want to check the back side of the fitting for leaks before fastening the fitting down with screws. Natural gas is super low-pressure, so it's pretty easy to get a leak-free connection. Code may not allow passing a flexible gas pipe through a wall/floor...

    Decent video. The only problem is the pro flex instructions say to place the retainer ring into the fourth valley of the CSST.

      This video is for "Home Flex " not "pro flex" ...pro flex probably has different instructions that I'm not familiar with

    Shows how to make the connections fine, but this is misleading for many people as you left out a code required drip leg.

    What if you connect it and u need to disconnect it for some reason will the ring be no good or is it still good

      Should be able to disconnect and reconnect without problems, all ways check for leaks after

      The manual says that the gasket cannot be reused but a new gasket can be installed on the fitting. Problem is, the manual has no instructions for replacing the gasket and it seems like the gasket is bonded to the fitting somehow.

    What about a “dirt leg”?

    • @calebfifelski5573
      @calebfifelski5573 2 года назад +2

      You don't need a dirt leg or drip leg for a cook stove. You do need them on a Furnace, boiler and water heaters.

    I bought these CSST stuff from Home Depot. I didn't want to buy the pipe cutter just to use it once, nor I want a free "rental". I figure I can cut the tubing with other means carefully. Indoor gas or propane pressure is very low, so I can see how these stuff work. Black pipes and fittings are pricing themselves out of the business with their ripoff prices these days. Gas plumbing is so stone age and I can never understand in my jurisdiction copper pipes are not allowed, and they force us to use black pipes which is so overkilled.
    This stuff is far superior than the dinosaur black pipes and cast fittings from CCP China.

      What did you end up using to cut this?

    • @maestrovso
      @maestrovso Год назад +1

      @@b33moua I cut it with a dremel tool with a mini cutting disc. Very easy to do.

    Don't know if anyone has mentioned this, but DO NOT use soapy water on CSST to test for leaks. The detergent may cause a premature failure as it may be corrosive.
