We carry Cort (when we can get them). They have really upped their game at every price point. They are suddenly a hyper competitive brand. I can't keep them in stock.
Man Glenn , your riffing has really improved of late . Hanging with Kristian and Henning is starting to push the guitarist in you. I set up a 3/4 scale Cort for a customer’s son and even though it was an older Cort , I thought that it was an extremely well built entry level axe. It could have used new pickups and tuners but most entry level guitars even from today could use that treatment
I have a lot of guitars from high-end, mid level and rarer guitars. By far my favorite sounding guitar is an Ibanez GIO lol. I call it a Wednesday guitar because it must have been made by a new employee that wanted a raise. Why call it a Wednesday guitar? Because on Thursday employees are distracted by the up coming weekend and getting paid on Friday, on Saturday and Sunday they are partying and Monday they are recovering from a hangover and on Tuesday they are almost back on tract and by Wednesday they give a shit!
My first guitar, that I bought back in 2008, is a strat copy made by Cort. I still have it to this day and it's a simply amazing guitar. Thinking about changing the electronics thought.
Look up what Cort manufactures. I was kind of surprised. Ibanez, PRS (SE line), Parkwood, Squier, G&L Tribute series line of guitars are among the most well-known brands that Cort produces. In recent years, small companies known for extremely high quality (and high-priced) guitars have begun contracting Cort to produce budget line models
My first guitar was a Cort M200 and I still play it. Threw some Black Winter pickups into and it's an absolute monster even in E standard. Glad to see they stepped up their game.
I have to say I LOVE your guitar reviews and I hope you can keep them going. This Cort model seems to really have a lot more than just "what counts". It's a serious machine. Now, if Cort can only do something about it's logo, which needs severe updating and still looks like what you'd fine on a home perm box. Great video, Glenn!
Heads up! I bought a Cort KX-5 about 10 yrs ago, been rock solid ever since, NEVER had any problems with it in all that time, and that was all for bout €250!
At one point in time a couple of months ago the satin black was €579 at Thomann, so I purchased one and its incredible. It even looks like it has stainless steel frets. My guitar teacher played it and it played like a €2000 guitar !!!
Glen Next time you travel overseas you need to do a tour through their manufacturing plant, you will be surprised what brands appear out of Corts Factory IE Ibanez
Apparently those guitar lessons have been paying off. It's been fucking awesome to watch you get better and progress as a musician over the last year or so, you're making progress in some pretty good leaps and bounds. Not a surprise really, if you've been touching the thing for 20 years then applying some knowledge is really not that big a deal. It's great to see that you're really obviously putting the time in because the results are quite obvious. Good on you bro
My first great guitar was a Cort EVL-Z4, bought back in 2012 (still got it). It has EMG-HZ pickups, no Floyd, but it does have pentagram inlays! (Those make it sound better, obviously.) I paid $400 Australian for it on sale, normally $800. Not surprised at all that your Cort is awesome. Mine sure is! Also, the full mix in this video had the best songwriting I've seen on your channel. You're killin' it on guitar lately! I'd recommend all your viewers take a look at what Cort has to offer. Seriously under-appreciated brand.
Cort strat copy was my first guitar, still works a good decade later. Among other newer guitars I have a couple higher end Cort's with EMG pickups and such that I really adore, one is neck-thru which feels like a high end guitar for about $150 used!
I seem to remember Cort back in the 70's/80's made one of the first headless guitars. Back then I basically lived at the Long and McQuade store and would frequent home when they closed at the end of the day! GOD, those were the days!!!
The fact that they didn't control the ad and didn't even get to see the video before it's uploaded (that's standard practice for every brand whether a product is being reviewed or its just an ad read.) shows that they have confidence in their product as well. That means they haven't compromised on anything to make gobs of money
Here in Italy music stores are the size of my bedroom. Talking with my local shop owner he told me that he couldn't find guitars from the biggest producers because they give priority to other countries that have more people playing. There are a lot of Cort there, would be nice to see this live. I've bought the Solar a few months ago.
My first guitar that I bought myself was and X6! Great guitar until I dropped it. Learned how to take apart guitars and fix them and as well as why strap locks are non negotiable. Also I just bought a Harley Benton 414 CS, thanks for the the recommendation! Should be here in 420 weeks....
For anyone who isn’t afraid to do a bit of assembly, Warmoth is a great option for getting a high quality custom instrument. All their bodies and necks are made in the US. If you just want to paint over the thing, you could get a poplar body for about $160 USD and a neck for maybe $200-$250? Depending on how much you spend for electronics and parts you can easily come in under the $1000 mark for a custom instrument. Might be something worth checking out for anyone who is thinking about this kind of price range but wants something more personal
I have a Cort KX5. IIRC, it cost me about $325CAD, and it's one of my favorite guitars. Fixed bridge, dual humbuckers (unbranded) with a coil tap. Only thing I didn't like was the tuners, but my local guitar shop was happy to install some ratio tuners for me. It winds up on most of my mixes, and always sounds great. Good to see that they're still making stuff.
That’s a pretty tasty song glenn!!! That’s prob one of the best song takes I’ve heard or seen you do on the show! Nice man!! Even the bass licks were killer. Great job man!
my 6 string is an iyv semi hollow tele from amazon lol. i bought all new hardware and some invaders then took it to a luthier. for under 500 i have the most metal non metal guitar i could find and its sick!! i even replaced the bridge, put locking tuners and strap locks though. everything was changed.
I knew as soon as you put distortion to it that it had the nazgul/sentient pick ups...I love them...I got that set in my LTD TE 200 and man do they put metal in ya ear....
Fucking loved the Ola joke you threw into your script Glenn... although I kinda want to see both you and Ola shred on two identical 500's and then compare them to too similar looking Solar guitars, mainly to see if Cort gets Ola's approval or not.
Hey Glenn. A Harley Benton Fusion II or III HH guitar would get you the same floyd rose 1000 bridge, same contoured body style, same pickup configuration for 4 to 500 less. Necks are bolt-on though, so no neck-thru. There'd be budgetary room to add locking tuners, (though with a locking nut, overkill?) and change out the pickups to your own taste. Yes you have to wait for shipping from Germany but the cost savings is worth it in my opinion. That's why I bought two for $700. Excellent video!
I have a Cort g100 as a holdover guitar while I am away from home. It is great for $150. The only thing I had to do was smooth out the frets as they were a little gritty. Now it plays great and sounds pretty darn good.
I change the strings on floating tremolos one string at a time, mitigates the retuning issues when doing string changes and makes the process a whole lot faster. (starting to comment more because we need to make the YT recommendation bots more metal.)
I've owned a cort nylon string classical guitar for a long time now..has a fishman pickup built in it....sounds amazing both acoustic and plugged in...records great...paid about 600.00 bucks for it about 15+ years ago... great guitar.
I bought a used Cort acoustic in 2009. Jumbo body. Always thought it sounded really good. Not especially loud but very rich sounding. Still play it all the time.
I’ve been playing a Cort 5 string bass for years now. It’s a 5 piece neck through natural finish with 2 active Bartolini humbuckers. It sounds and plays great. I bought it over a Warwick because it sounded just as good if not cleaner through the amp and had a significantly lower price tag.
I love your guitar showcases, you introduced me to the Harley Benton stuff which I've had a fantastic time with. I can get great-quality used ones for under $300 and they sound amazing!
So. Your playing has gotten really impressive lately, so kudos, man. 🤘🏻 🤙🏻 And, damn, that is a gorgeous Cort. Been a fan of theirs for a while now, and planning to order another one next year.
I own an Ibanez RG470 from the end of 90's and I understand it was built at Cort's factory in Korea. Eventhough it's an RG Series Ibanez, I love it. I'll never sell it and I'm more than satisfied with it's build quality.
15 years ago I had a Cort acoustic guitar, it was some cheapo like 200 CAD acoustic guitar, it was okay. That's my entire experience with Cort, pretty cool that they're still around and now making great guitars at good prices.
I bought a cort 200 series h--s-s figuration electric guitar back in the day, early 2000's, cant remember the model tho, for 200$ new. One of the best guitars i've ever played, when set up of course. Granted its a entry level axe, but still well worth the money. Still metalling away with it today.
My last 2 buys were both Cort. The G290 FAT and the A5 Plus SCMS bass and I am in love with them both. There are 3 of their guitars on my list to buy in the future including the menace. Awesome review.
You briefly hinted at solar guitars, I am hearing mixed reviews on them (mostly in regards to the QC). What is your input on this? Also have you got any suggestions for decent 7 strings at around £700? Thanks mate.
my first bass was a mid 80's Cort black and white p bass copy, the neck bowed so bad the strings were super high off the neck. I moved up to a Aria Pro II Z bass exploer type, major improvement. never owned another cort but this looks nice
Cort have really upped their game! Was looking for a multiscale 7 string earlier this year and I bought a Cort KX500MS over the Ormsby sitting next to it because not only was it cheaper, but it was also a far nicer guitar to play. It seems more guitarists are buying Cort and when we tell our friends, they're kind of confused because no one is used to seeing high quality Cort guitars!
yep, my Ibanez SR305 bass was made by Cort, and it's fantastic, stays in tune, and although it's on the cheaper side, I have no complaints whatsoever on the manufacturing
Blown away by your prowess on the bass guitar Glenn. Perhaps the channel will head in the direction of bass videos. Well done Glenn. I busted out laughing watching your bass performance. Great video as always. Take care.
Man, Cort were absolute helltrash back in late 90s/early 2000s To see how far they've come is incredible. I've got at least one Squier that's from the Cort factory and it's fantastic.
I have a "Chery" superstrat and it took me a while to find any information about it, turns out it's made by Cort in 1998, but they've been making the same model since at least 1991, under different brands.
my first electric guitar was a Cort M200. total beginner guitar (the fretboard was flat by the headstock where you chord, but curved higher up the neck where you'd solo, what?) , but it i absolutely loved it. aaaaand yes, it hold tuning better than my Gibson Les Paul.
I believe the original run of the Squier Vintage Modified series was produced in the Cort Indonesian factory. Those guitars were such good quality! For $300 hahahaha they’re made in China now under the Classic Vibe line. And close to $500...
Fuck you Glen! Your guitar chops have come a long way dude, good shit. My affinity for Jackson and Fender aside, it's great to see push back against brand snobbery. I'm a home engineer and guitar tutor and I always advocate for finding a guitar with good bones. A lot of budget brands put out decent builds if you know what to look for and get a good set up done, and/or do some basic upgrades. The rest is technique, but it goes to show you don't need to spend a fuck ton of money to get a reliable, playable, sick sounding guitar 🤘
I grew up thinking Cort were some cheap starter brand. Recently bought a 7-string multiscale, and holy hell it sounds and plays insanely well. Only about £800 (GBP) as well. Similar range guitars from like Schecter/Jackson/Ibanez would probably be £1000+.
I know you don't really need them but locking tuners really do speed up the string change process as you don't have to do as many winds. And as you already know changing strings on a Floyd takes time so any time saved is a bonus.
We carry Cort (when we can get them). They have really upped their game at every price point. They are suddenly a hyper competitive brand. I can't keep them in stock.
what company? id love to buy one off ya
Your rhythm playing has improved tremendously! And that Cort had a nice snappy tone.
Thanks so much!

Love that analogy! 😂
An Ibanez GIO likely made by... Cort.
I though GIO's came from China whereas RG Series from the end 90's (like mine) came from Cort's factory in Korea.
@@lachinelli good point. I tend to buy even my budget gear thirty years old or more so I haven't handled anything new in a while.

My first guitar, that I bought back in 2008, is a strat copy made by Cort. I still have it to this day and it's a simply amazing guitar. Thinking about changing the electronics thought.
I have the same relationship with floyd roses "You're cool, but I don't have a doctorate in engineering to do the maintenance on you"
Literally any idiot can deal with that one, otherwise they wouldn't be so popular.
I'm a Cort dealer and just ordered one of these for myself.
Look up what Cort manufactures. I was kind of surprised.

Give Glenn a guitar with a Floyd and suddenly it's "Glenn, your 80's is showing" lol I absolutely love it!
Bought their X 100 last year when I took up guitar playing for a hobby. Still love it even though it's ideal for beginners like myself.
Learning how to setup a guitar goes a LONG way towards keeping it longer ^^
At one point in time a couple of months ago the satin black was €579 at Thomann, so I purchased one and its incredible. It even looks like it has stainless steel frets. My guitar teacher played it and it played like a €2000 guitar !!!
I put Duncan Nazgul pickups in 3 of my Schecters. They are beyond amazing. That Cort looks sick!
In 2002 I bought a Cort X-2 and haven't had the urge to buy anything else since.
I have updated the guitar with some Graph Tech string Savers though.
We stock cort as well, they're really amazing for the price! By far our best performing brand together with Tokai and G&L

I know you don't really need them but locking tuners really do speed up the string change process as you don't have to do as many winds. And as you already know changing strings on a Floyd takes time so any time saved is a bonus.
Those Nazgul and Sentient pickups are monsters!
Yeah, pretty impressed with the tone they generate!
I have NOT been sleeping under a rock...
I remember when they were coUrt!
Lol the Ola bit was killer
