    The 12.7x108mm cartridge is a heavy machine gun and anti-materiel rifle cartridge used by the Soviet Union, the former Warsaw Pact, modern Russia, and other countries.
    It is the approximate Russian equivalent of the NATO .50 BMG (12.7x99mm NATO) cartridge. The differences between the two are the bullet shape, the types of powder used, and that the casing of the 12.7x108mm is 9 mm longer.

    The Kord is by far the world's best 12.7mm machine gun.
    In addition to soviet/russian 12.7x108 cal. it is also available in 12.7x99. (0.50 BMG.)

    The 12.7x108mm Russian round is not interchangeable with the .50 BMG (12.7x99mm), and it possesses slightly improved ballistics.
    Also, remember the Kord is a very recent design and the M2 Browning dates back to around WW2. Because of that, of course the Kord is a more advanced, superior weapon.

    I am seriously impressed by this weapon, a .50 heavy machine-gun that a single man can remove from the mount, carry, deploy from a bipod, and even fire while moving, that is what a heavy MG should be. Awesome.

      @@peaceraybob12.7×108mm has more velocity and bullet mass than .50. If I understand correctly, but I don't know anything about the amount of powder. But since they weigh more and fly faster, most likely the charge of powder is greater.

  • @wysoft
    @wysoft 12 лет назад +2

    You don't have to be a "Russophile" to admire a well-designed weapon.
    And the RMG 50 is still an experimental gun designed for mounted use. LW50MG is still a crew-served weapon. At least you could carry Kord if you had to, and don't have to haul around a tripod to deploy it.
    Kord is also a rotating-bolt design. It is basically an oversized PKM.

    I like the stock/pistol grip arrangement on the heavy mono-mount for the Kord. This is a great improvement in accuracy over the DUSHKA and the Browning M-2 HB hand-grip/trigger assembly. Although the 'Ma Deuce' is the world standard for a .50 caliber machine gun. When you have a M-2 that's been set correctly and is running right, it is truly a thing of beauty to work with. You get one on a tripod with a T-n-E unit and a gunner who knows their shit, Sweet!!!

    • @alfonsoramos5597
      @alfonsoramos5597 9 лет назад

      I'm a jehova's witness and you can ask me anything you want and I have an answer. The bible says that when you die you are dead, sieze to exist. You don't float somewhere up to the heavens or down to the so called Hell as the whole world has been blinded to believe by all these so call PHD pastors and ministers and religions. There will be an battle where Jehova's spirit angels will come down and destroy all evil people and trap Satan and his evil angels(demons) down below. This battle will be Armageddon as stated in the bible. Then after a 1000 year spiritual (heavenly) reign by Jesus where the good people on earth are saved from death by his sacrificial death and there will be peace. After 1000 years of beautification of the earth and welcoming dead people, good and bad from the past by which tombs will be open and people from the sea and people which were lost in horrible deaths will reappear and be welcomed to earth by the good people who survived Armaggedon. So, we will be able to see and talk to ancient people from the past. Ok, so after the 1000 year mellinial reign by Jesus, Jehova god will release Satan and his demons and they will once again infuence people on earth with their wickedness. Soon after that there will be a division. People who stay loyal and do good in god's eye and were not decieved by the devil and his demons will be positioned to one side of jesus and people who were once again taken by evil's side will be destroyed forever and ever along with Satan and his Demons. The surviving multitude of good hearted will live here on earth with spititual guidence from 144,000 people taken from earth along with Jesus's governing body who will be invisible up in the heavens.The good people here on earth will live in peace forever and ever in everlasting paradise.

    • @alfonsoramos5597
      @alfonsoramos5597 9 лет назад

      So to answer your question ,yes, hell is a figurative place. The the place people think as a place down there where you suffer in everlasting torture in a firey place is not real. Keep in mind that what I wrote there about what happens in the end as described in Revelations happens only after many other events described in the bible must occur first. All we know is that most of those events have already occured so that means that we are very close to that dreadful day where fire will rain from the sky and evil people will feel the angel's swords. There will be no place to hide.. Not even the President's impenetrable bunkers will hold them back.

    we are in agreement on range and penetration. I still say the shooter because the first element in shooting is position. So the shooter has to select, the right position, ensure the weapon is properly mounted,and so forth. if there is a flaw in the weapon, in a case of heavy slug throwers like big 50, you adjust the T and E. I noticed they designed this to be mobile like the PKM

    A general-purpose machine gun (GPMG) is a belt-fed weapon used in a variety of roles, from bipod- or tripod-mounted infantry support to deployment as a helicopter door gun or a vehicle-mounted support weapon.[1] It can provide fire support for vehicles or infantry from a variety of mounts.

    The Kord in a crew-serve configuration takes less work to break down and relocate due to the lack of a heavy tripod assembly. Obviously you won't be carrying either gun around a whole lot, but the assistant gunner does less work and can carry more ammo with a setup such as this.

    Unlike the Browning 50. cal, if you shoot this thing consistently during a battle, you'll wake up in the morning with a sore shoulder. Yes the BMG maybe heaver but its much better when it comes to sustain fire due to the fact that its not a shoulder fire weapon. But when it comes to a more mobile unit, the Kord is much better.

    There is also SNIPER RIFLE variant of this and Russians had already during WW2 12.7mm machine guns, this is just "new" model with less recoil and able to shoot longer without need to change the barrel.

    The Browning m2 technology was developed in 1933. It has been proven aset and still meets some needs of today. Not sure if the kord has earned its stripes yet.

    also when someone attacks you (repeatedly) there are really only 2 choices. victory or death... it's up to the enemy to stop attacking. it's always so peacful when all foes have been neutralized.

    In America we shoot .50 cal. BMG. We also shoot Smith & Wesson 500 magnum.

    penetration and range depend by the bullet and the cartridge.
    accuracy depends by the bullet, the cartridges, the barrel, the firing system and the bipod/tripod, the selector of the gas and, obviously. the shooter.

    Browning - heavy. Fire power is lower than Kord. The Browning trunk overheats quicker. The Kord has higher precision.

    I hate to tell you but the only 12.7mmx108/50 Cal gun's that were made by the Soviets prior to the Kord were experimental and not widely used like the 7.62x54mmR heavy machine guns were, the only 50 cal machine gun to come out anywheres near WWII was the DShK (1930-1935) but it was succeeded by the NSV that fired a 14.5x114mm round that only leaves us with 1 that wasnt retired but wasn't produced either until the 1970s which was the NSV Utyos, only a modern version of the NSV.

    @MultiRecognition Actually the Kord is bigger. The M2 and the XM312 are 12.7x99mm, the Kord is 12.7x108mm.

    почему для Корда выбрали 12,7 когда есть такой прекрасный патрон под 14,5

    It was a silly stunt but indicative of it's light weight and controllability. The only heavy machine gun that can be fired from a bipod.

    Russians are great soldiers. They stand their ground-that you can depend on. I would have loved to fight for Russia during World War II if I could get a kiss from the beautiful Russian sniper, Roza Georgiyevna Shanina (damn, she is so beautiful). P.S. The Minutemen were drunks and deserters. General Washington hated them.

    @Alexxx2276 50. Cal. is the same as 12.7mm. They're just different measurements of the same round. The 50. is 12.7x99mm.

    1 "somewhat" is written together 2 the weapon you are talking about is a RIFLE, this is a MACHINE GUN (and I really don't think they issue 50 cal.s to infantry in any army, although I might be wrong)

    @draco1958 U.S. has actually heavy machine guns on the troop level, the most recent handgun that was in American service is just a heavy machine gun DG LW50MG who recently arrived in the service of Airborne, Mountain and Special Operations (SOCOM) troops.
    A Gatling gun is somthing you mount on a vehicle, sometimes the infantry needs support on troop level :)
    And you do not want to sitt in a Humvee or in a building when a Kord open fire.

    Ну утверждать не буду, но где то слышал от бойцов спецназа про два РПК ведущих кинжальный огонь с двух разных флангов. Говорят эффективно подавляет, тем более такой крупный калибр. Сам подумай к примеру в горах где никакая техника не пройдет - это самое то!
