    Love seeing these 2 great comedians together! Eddie has always been like Richard pryor in so many ways,the comparison between these 2 has always been valid! The raunchy style of comedy from Richard definitely rubbed off on Eddie and made him the great comedian and actor he became! Found this clip over the recent Labor day weekend and it was a multimillion dollar find! Seeing how great they were in Harlem nights together and to see them together again or anywhere is always a treat!!

    When I was 14 years old I listened the "That Niggas Crazy" album at least 12 times, to the point where I memorized every single joke, and still laughed each time I heard it as if it were the first time. My Mt. Rushmore of standup - Pryor, Murphy, Carlin and Chappelle are all revolutionaries in comedy. Rest in Glory Mr. Pryor and.....thanks!

      I bought the cassette, while attending a family reunion, in Ohio (summer of 1990). Of course, my brother and I weren't supposed to be listening to it. We put the cassette in the mini-stereo.....put the volume on low.....and LAUGHED OUR AZZES OFF!!!😆
      And yes---like you---I used to remember every segment. "What the clock say!!? The CLOCK MUTHAF** ---WHAT THE CLOCK SAY!!? BRING YO AZZ HOME, BY ELEVEN!!"😆🤣

      Yesterday I was watching a comedy hype video where different comedian were giving their own best 5 comedians of all time,and every guest ,basically had a spot for Pryor, Chapelle and some put Eddie Murphy too.....for me ,based on the body of work ,chapelle took the throne since his comeback,his stand up comedy is not only funny,but most times informative ,deep and very clever,in a way that not even Pryor could master......
      But Pryor deserve every compliment he get ,because of his courage in putting his own flaws first as stand up material........Eddie strike me at possibly tge most talented of the three, he could impersonate anyone to perfection,he could sing,I mean the complete package, but unfortunately he is the one who got only two specials,because he wanted to be an actor more than a comedian,and I guess he has been mutilated since his transexual scandal, because after that he never came back to stand up.

    It must have been an amazing moment in Eddie's life to not only be able to present the Lifetime Achievement Award to his comedic hero, but to stand next to him and make that man genuinely laugh. What an amazing moment and accomplishment. Two of the greatest comedic minds standing together. One can only imagine what it would have been like if the two of them had been able to truly work together on a stand up project. Rest In Peace Mr Pryor. We all miss you.

    I was a teenager when I first heard Pryor, and that speaks to how powerful he was. He and Cosby were giants. The thing that puts Pryor above everyone tho was his self honesty and how he got you to laugh with him about himself - not AT him but WITH him (like Spoke Lee pointed out.

    Richard Pryor was my favorite comic of all time, the first one I was introduced to and impersonated. I was so intrigued by him as I got older and followed him because I felt we had stuff in common. I had a Great grandmother who ran a whorehouse for over 40 years in the south, the things I saw, I should write a book. My parents loved him, my dad had all his albums and I would sneak and listen to them, he caught me in his music room listening to Richard and telling the jokes with him.I was like damn I’m busted and in trouble.. My dad yelled for my mom to see, he said she knows this stuff better than I do.They laughed and never made me leave the room when they watched his specials or listened to the albums again. My parents had my uncles ,their wives and kids over, they would make all the kids go in one room and go to bed, that’s when we knew the weed and adult only entertainment was coming out. I was the one called out of the room to entertain them with my Richard Pryor act, they swore I would be a comic when I grew up. Best times of my life. I collected his specials, movies and everything he did and still have those things to this day, what a man. RIP Richard, greatest comic dead or alive…..

    Loved Pryor...but poor Redd Fox always being overlooked as the actual cat that started it all...Redd started as a stand up comedian in the early 60s, was still doing it during and after Sandford and Son and he influenced Richard Pryor who basically copied him. Red told it like it is, swore and was real. More than a few of his specials are on RUclips. And it isnt due to "not being as famous a comedian as Pryor" either...Redd Fox's comedy albums sold very well and he was one of the first comedians to do HBO, well before it was available nation-wide and Fox's comedy tours were sellouts all over the country. The man was insanely popular.

    • @clownjewels

      Well said! We think Redd was a legend who paved the way for a lot of folks!

    • @Asisya18
      @Asisya18 23 дня назад

      Redd's style of one liners, while extremely funny, was nothing new style-wise whereas Pryor's social commentary and bringing honesty about his life into his comedic storytelling was groundbreaking. There's the difference.

    • @thomasjones4570
      @thomasjones4570 23 дня назад +1

      @@Asisya18 I suggest you actually listen to more of Redd's specials. By 1970 he was no longer just a one liner guy and was telling stories. Also, Pryor was nowhere near the first comic to bring real life stories into comedy. fucking Lenny Bruce was doing that shit in the 1950s and getting arrested for it. Hell the guy brought so much "real life" into his act he would sometimes read from a god damn newspaper and work it into his political jokes.

  • @Malouco
    @Malouco 7 месяцев назад +2
