A fantastic version of the classic Dougie MacLean song. It does indeed make me homesick for Caledonia, for the Highlands and for the loughs of my youth. Soon, I shall return, maybe soon, tho it's been years, soon ... soon
I really enjoy this version of the song. It isn't over produced and too shiny. The accents cutting through make it all the better. The realness of the music and the trueness of the voices take me back to the days that I spent in the UK. Thank you for posting this. I am gonna fav you! ~Thanks from the States.
Oh this is a beautiful song and this lady sings it so well. The musicians in this are awesome, too. I could listen to this for a long time, so peaceful and relaxing.
Magnificent interpretation of a very beautiful song. This group is the one better good for the interpretation of Caledonia. All the instruments of Celtic folklore are reunited. Fabulous
Hi Mark, I'm glad I found this here on RUclips, since Stage6 has shut down... (too bad - DivX is soooo awesome...) I'm posting this on Seesmic for my friends to check out. Thanks again - this is a beautiful piece.
i could write a page on how beautiful that performance was. on the other videos of yours that i just found, the woman is excellent on the bodhran. to my surprise and delight she has an exceptional voice as well! (that fellow in the blue with the long hair seems to be able to play just about every instrument under the sun) :D
@ MarkHarmer: Gents, this is purely phantastic, how the sense of the lyrics is reflected in the way the song is played and sung. The lyrics fit to my situation as I left home some years ago and old friends got lost, new ones found. This song makes me happy and blue at the same time. I did not find your tour dates on your homepage, can you tell me where I can find them? Three thumbs up!
Dougie MacLeans version has yet to be beaten in my opinion, although this version is one of the better ones I've heard. The song is so good that it's almost impossible to ruin it, but Paulo Nutini and Amy MacDonald should be cast out for what they've done to this magnificent song.
I dont give a dam to your comment guy but this version is realy wonderfull and its my opinion. If you prefer the celtci woman version its up to you but its only your opinion.
Delores keane sings a much better version of this song. Although I cant find it on youtube. Thanks for the posting still the same. Can any1 find Dolores singing it?
my trad band did this and with accordions doin drones an 2 girls singing it ..it was just as good as this but then as the girls finished the song a whole pipe band played it fast and it was amazing but this i believe is more professional
sorry people but lisa kelly's version is so much better i understand dougie wrote it but why dont you ask him who sings it best hes a honest man and he will tell you lisa kelly knocks it out of the park
Out of work loggers? You should try it here in Beautiful British Columbia. Warning though, you may never want to leave, and oh yes we don't really put on womens clothing and hang around in bars.

Well of course it would be. But this is a lovely ensemble performance.
