As the self proclaimed biggest Rave Master fan in the world, I was glad to see this gem pop up on here. I actually took this game to go get autographed by Yuri Lowenthal a few years back and his face lit up when I handed it to him to sign. Apart from having J Micheal Tatum sign my microwave, that was the best experience I’ve had getting something autographed before. Giving a VA something that’s so obscure that they did but something they loved doing is always a great experience.
OKAY THAT JUNGLE BOOK GAME CAME WITH MY WINDOWS 95 AND I NEVER COULD FIND INFORMATION ON IT SO I THOUGHT IT WAS JUST SOME WEIRD FEVER DREAM! Thank you for proving to me I haven't gone insane yet, Austin.
They did make a driving batman game for arcades, where the goals are more like stopping bane from getting away with a tanker full of venom (?) One of my favorite simple boasts are from that game. "You cannot stop me, but i implore you to try!"
And the gameplay itself is weird. It's some sort of fighting game but not only, it's over complicated. There are also Saturn games, mostly dating sims if I'm not mistaking.
Wow! Someone talked about the Gamecube Rave game??? Thanks, Austin! Best thing about it was my surprise seeing it at a flea market for $3 when my young mind didn't know a game of it even existed.
I found the Napoleon Dynamite game sealed 5 Below and couldn't help but buy it out of sheer disbelief despite not owning a psp at the time. I was more excited to find that then I was when I bought Smash 4 immediately after
A really decent licensed game that's pretty obscure is Wendy: Every Witch Way on the Gameboy Color. It was made by Wayforward a few months before Shantae. It's a Metal Storm clone with gravity flipping as the mechanic. The graphics are really great for the console, the controls are tight, and it's all around a cute game. It's very, very easy, but there's bonus levels if you play it on a GBA that make it a challenge. Shame it's not more well-known, the physics engine would make one hell of a romhacking scene.
Just here to say, Wow someone talked about one of my most nostalgic childhood games, Night at the Museum Battle of the Smithsonian. Had it on Wii and I spent so much time on those puzzles.
Oh man I remember those old 90’s live action Jungle Book films! We used to rent a different one every few weeks from the local Blockbuster and my whole family would watch em together. Good times :)
@@kretesWMV I'm with the guy above. JoJo is fucking terrible. I don't mind if the music is in there though, but so long as I don't have to be constantly reminded or somebody explaining something is a JoJo reference, the better. Seriously, annoying.
i rented that izzy one when i was young because i wanted to play a more recent game on the SNES, thinking it was made in 1995 or something, since he was the mascot of the 1996 olympics. I was so disappointed and confused to read that it was made in 1992 once i started it up, and also disappointed that it sucked. why did they make an entire game based around a mascot that wouldn't even be at the olympics for 4 more years? that's.. kind of a long time.
Great video. It reminded me of a demo I played of a MIB game that came with a PC World magazine in the late 90's. Had nothing to do with Will Smith or Tommy Lee Jones' characters at all!
I had the Mad Max game as a kid on NES, I didn't even know there was a part where you get out of your car. I just kept running out of fuel. I think I bought it second hand for dirt cheap though, so it only got played a few times until I gave up on trying to figure out what to do in it.
Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief on the DS was an obscure one I owned. It was a turn based JRPG based off the film that was surprisingly decent. Fun little romp based off the film that actually expanded the universe in cool ways by introducing other demigods and even had a robust post game where you fought the other Olympians.
I didn't expect the title to be accurate, but I have to hand it to you: I only recognized three out of ten (Mad Max, Bruce Lee: Quest of the Dragon, and Cowboy Bebop). All the rest were totally new to me.
Doritos Crash Course was a fun, free Xbox Arcade game that used your Xbox Avatar as the character. It was fun competing against leaderboards for the fastest times on various courses similar to the courses found on shows like American Ninja.
In defense of Cowboy bebop I can kind of see what they were trying to do with the flying. They were trying to make it look like the dogfights from the show.
Man, I remember Izzy very clearly. I was at a young age when cartoons dominated my life, and seeing one about the Olympics was something special. That game, was alright I guess. I remember renting it, and that's it.
Holy shit the Izzy game was one of those odd games I was bought by my grandmother. I thought it was pretty damn hard but it played better than half of the odd games I had. Its actually surprising that you mentioned it considering how lost to time it is.
I was aware of some of these. Rave Master looked to be a four-player version of the One Piece Grand Battle games. Also, you're still super fun to watch and adorable.
You made me bring back some crazy suppressed memories I had, I used to spend hours and hours playing hop-a-bout. It is the most annoying non fun game I've played in my life. Only reason I played it is cause I didn't know back then what a good video game was. I swear if I ever have to spend another day playing Hop-a-bout, I will lose my mind! I had forgotten about that game until I now saw your video
There was this one licensed game that was weirdly alright. Monsters Inc. Scream Team for the PS1. It was easy and short, even if you 100% it, but I remember it being a good time last I played it.
I hope you talk about more Monster Rancher games in the future. The Battle Card game was wild in that it received two spinoff games but _never actually had a physical card game,_ that I know of. Plus the Solomon's Key clone they made was pretty tight.
There's a few Tenchi Muyo games for the snes that aren't too bad. Granted, you'll need to understand Japanese or get some kind of patch, but I recommend the strategy one. Can't remember the name, but the gameplay was pretty solid. I'd say it's sort of like that Shaman King game on PS2.
I attended a panel hosted by John Heder a few years ago specifically so I could ask him if he knew about and had any opinion on the PSP Napoleon game. Considering he was pretty open about the positives and negatives of his career, I have to believe his fond memories of playing it must have been honest.
I don't know about games based around vehicular combat. I've never played twisted metal or similar games. Although, I have often thought that a game based on the movie "Death Race" with Jason Statham would be pretty awesome. You could create your own character, have lots of on foot side quests in the actual prison to earn new armour and weapons for your car, customize your own vehicle in the workshop and engage in the titular death races with icons for you to run over in order to activate your weapons, tactical items like smoke grenades, defensive abilities, track hazards and traps among other things. I think it could be great fun to play a game like that if it were done well.
I actually enjoy the Cowboy Bebop PlayStation 1 game very much but I do agree that the controls are very quirky and it takes awhile to get used to them.

Then, a couple of years later, I got Batman Vengeance, which was a bit better.

I had that Izzy game growing up. I don't think I ever played it but I originally thought he was supposed to be Sonic. I guess that's because he has the blue color scheme, and red shoes, and he collects rings. I should really look for it on eBay or something.
nagano 98 was one of my all time favorite games as a kid.... it was like, the first game that was just a bunch of mini games... also, this game trained us in the skill of button mashing, and the wonders of curling.
Here's a fun Izzy fact for everyone. Busch Gardens Williamsburg, an otherwise good amusement park, had an Izzy coaster. It was. Uncomfortable. A small steel coaster that constantly felt like it was going to fly off the rails. They rebranded it after the Olympics and then just yanked it out a few years later.
Although I'm sure a good number of people know about it by now, one licensed game I actually really loved playing (even though it wasn't all that great to most) was "Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon." As I recall, some of the boss battles were kind of cheap in their idea of difficulty so I often resorted to winning by way of knocking them off of the environment. (Waterfalls for example are the bane of a couple of them.) Apart from that, the controls took a little getting used to, but all in all, I still don't think it was that bad of a game. ^_^
