Many thanks, James. When Clarence Williams recorded this tune with his band - 'The Clarence Williams Jazz Kings' - in New York on 28 May 1929, Williams himself was on piano. He had nobody playing a banjo or guitar. Tuba Skinny as usual show great respect for the original. For example, after the Introduction, Shaye and Craig (from 00:09 to 00:48) take a turn each at playing the melody while the other plays the catchy response phrases, just as Ed Allen and Arville Harris did in the 1929 recording. Also, like Clarence Williams, Tuba Skinny play the tune in the key of F, until the introduction of the 16-bar main theme (01:49 in this video) where they switch to B flat. What a super Coda, too (04:29 - 04:49): you don't find that on the Clarence Williams original.
It’s awesome to read comments like this. I don’t understand any of it really, but I go to the spots and listen. I can hear the shifts when they are pointed out. Thanks again.
I'm huge fan of Tuba Skinny and...personally of you, James! Thanks for up-to-date filming and delivering of magic process of making musik in front of your eyes!
Thanks for sharing this new concert, James! I was fortunate to see TS live in Philadelphia in August. It was a great night! Hope they come back here in 2022. Never get enough, thanks again!
Are you referring to the fence? If so that has nothing to do with the quality of the video. I can't control the venue, I can only record what is in front of me. If your complaint is otherwise you must realize how I recorded it.. I was sitting in the audience recording with a cell phone camera as a paying customer. I am not a professional nor am I affiliated with the band or the venue.
Your best bet is to download the CD's to your computer. If you have a CD burner you can then burn your own CD. Or you can listen digitally. tubaskinny.com/music
Download and listen on digital media or convert the download to a CD. tubaskinny.com/music or www.amazon.de/-/en/Maria-Muldaur-Tuba-Skinny/dp/B08VYLNX28/ref=sr_1_1?crid=1PV2E9P8B85IC&keywords=tuba+skinny&qid=1639340670&s=music&sprefix=tuba+skinny%2Caps%2C321&sr=1-1
If you are referencing the fence around the stage, yes that is unfortunate, but I can only record what it is front of me. I am a member of the audience in an assigned seat, not a professional videographer. The only choice I have is to record or not record.
So there is this story about the cameraman for the great director Cecil B. Demille, who was to film the great chariot scene with a hundred chariots, and a thousand extras, running across the desert. The director shouts, "action ! " And the whole desert erupts with roaring horses, screaming extras, and much raising of sand. So the scene comes to the end and DeMille asks how did the shot from the front go? And he was told that the camera got run over, and there was nothing. "How about the side,"? he asks. The other assistant says that the camera got only sand and there was nothing. "SO how about the camera on the hill?, he asks. "Surely that cannot be affected." So they go to the telephone, and the voice on the other end says, "Ready when you are, Mr. DeMille!"
The band has no control over the stage, that is the responsibility of the promoter. This year's concert in Pensacola changed to a new venue: ruclips.net/video/LrnLW7s-YK8/видео.html

Excellent James thank you.
Their music is great, that's more that I can say about the video quality.

No offence to Erica but I like the switch featuring more of Shaye in the thumbnails...she's also a peach.

Damned nuisance all those in-shot video makers, lol.

@@JamesSterling Thank you very much for what you are doing.

Great Music but get a new stage that is fitting your talent.
