I really hope Starfield will be as amazing as it sounds on paper. I think it probably has the potential to become THE definitive sci-fi game. Fingers crossed!
I feel it would've been better if it had alien races in it. Galactic politics gets very interesting with alien races involved. Humans are often portrayed in a very monolithic fashion in Sci Fi, and it would be kinda sad to see just humans.
There were several really clever nods to Jerry Goldsmith and John Williams in there. Masterfully done, great job inon Zur and the wonderful musicians in the London Symphony Orchestra. Honestly, this has been in the works so long it fell off my radar, but now I'm optimistic for its release and interested in the game play.
I didn't think about the Jerry Goldsmith aspect, but reading your comment, I went back and double-checked his stuff and saw he did The Mummy (1999) score which I love. And the great John Williams too, of course. It made me think: what a great combination. There is totally a mysterious yet adventurous feel to this suite, and I am almost more excited for the full OST than the game itself. Certainly the music will augment the experience of the game a million times over, I imagine.
I might be the only one, but listening to this composition and looking at the concept arts are giving me strong Star Wars vibe in all the good ways. If it's actually Skyrim in space with this atmosphere, it will be awesome.
It certainly makes sense. George Lucas has always said that Star Wars is a fantasy story in a space setting. Todd is right, Bethesda is uniquely positioned to make this game

Watching this 4 days from launch, I can't believe it's finally almost here! It's unreal. I remember when Starfield was just a trademark, and all the speculation around it. The last time I've been this excited for a game was fallout 4, and then Skyrim before that. I truly believe it'll be the game of a generation, just as much so as Skyrim was.

After seeing the new Dune movie, I realized how much unique music can add to any piece of media. I hope Starfield will have some more interesting music in it as well.

Starfield has the potential to be one of, if not, Bethesda’s best game they’ve done. A game to supersede the legacy of TES and crawl out of the 100ft tall shadow casted by Skyrim’s name alone. I surely do hope and believe that this is going to be something, really really special

This is masterful. I read in an interview that they started giving a lot of importance to the music, which I think is a perfect approach to any film or videogame. In this case, it seems they already succeeded at the one aspect that keeps it all together. Well done.
They come up with the style and themes of music very early in all of their big titles and then they develop the game with that in mind. It really shows. Their music is brilliant!
when i hear this i can imagine exploring swamps of an unexplored planet only to find an entire civilization of swamp people, all the way to finding bounties in cities across the galaxy or exploring the dunes of a sand planet for lost treasures, the possibilities are limitless and as todd said he believes we now have the technology to deliver

I'm all for Inon Zur being the new Elder Scrolls official composer. I love Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim's music, and the ost of the Harry Potter games are my childhood, but honestly I think it's best if they ditch Jeremy Soule after what he "allegedly" did

People will inevitably compare the music of Starfield to that of Star Wars. Zur does a great job of distinguishing his own style, while still delivering the impactful and driving melodies. I am especially excited to see how this plays out in the ambient music of the game.
It's less about the "it sounds like star wars" but more of "it feels like what star wars felt to me before". As you said, it's impactful, driving melodies. Hopeful. That's what SW represented to us as kids and everyone can feel that in here as well.

I really hear the genes of Star Trek in this piece. I hear a lot of people comparing it to Star Wars, which I do hear, but this piece really hits with nods to Goldsmith and Giacchino. In particular, the theme reminds me of pieces of First Contact, the more nuanced and softer notes of the Main theme. If this score will reflect the rest of the soundtrack we're going to get, we're in for a beautiful, uplifting, otherworldly experience. Fingers crossed for Inon Zur.

The music is by far the best part of this game.
The soundtrack and the ship building are the only good things in Starfield. The rest is a huge letdown. ☹

This will most certainly be the game of my lifetime, if not the game of ALL children of the OG Star Wars era's lifetime. Inon Zur has yet again masterfully composed, in musical notes, the emotions we will feel while flying through the galaxy. Just a week away as I write this. Cannot wait!!

I love the soundtrack for this game so far. I usually don't pay much attention to soundtracks of games but this one is an exception.
If the games as good as that music we are in for a treat.
This game will be about the question we ask ourselves when we look up to the stars, the dreams we have about our future and who we are, and why we are here, it's almost a religious experience and I can't wait to experience that in this game

Inon zur is a genius
No matter how the game will turn out to be, this symphony is already an epic experience. Got goosebumps just listening to the tunes here. I also have to agree, there is a very noticable similarity to works of Goldsmith in this.
This music is really so marvelous and I love it. It has a feel of retro futuristic music and that music when you just dream about something adventurous.

this brings me back to Oblivion and Morrowind.... and I could just stroll around letting the music take me to alpha vibration... and feel happy.

Inon Zur is coming back for starfield??? That's awesome! he made some great pieces for Fallout and Fallout 4's theme is my favorite theme out of all his work!
A lot of this sounds like it's inspired by Huppertz's Metropolis score. Excited to hear this end up in the game

I have about 500 hours of gameplay and this music is really powerful,as soon as I hear the opening notes I get pumped .
i remember inon zur from the amazing soundtracks of dragon age.
Is clear that Inon Zur took a lot of inspiration from John Williams, in many parts it sounds like a Star Wars score.
