    Brilliant! Thanks for uploading this Deano! I've never seen this race before. This was just before the Crystal Palace 3,000m race where Dave Moorcroft broke the European record and Steve sunk to a disappointing 10th. I had no idea he was in this kind of good form only 10 days earlier.

    One of the more relaxed 4.57 2000's you will ever see.

    "Lots of British interest." Yes Andy Norman insisted that everyone of his clients turn up and get paid or there is no Ovett!

    i guess Ovett could have broken the WR at 2000m, if he had tried. But he wasn't interested.

      You got the impression with ovett, it was all about quality, I personally felt he could have run a lot faster over the 1500 and mile.

    According to Ron Pickering, he ran 1:57. As I've said before, I loved his commentary but the number of bloopers he made must rival the great Mr Coleman.

    i have a question-some smart alec in the pub reckons ovett still holds a world record/world best but wandered off before i got the answer-its driving me up the wall as ive checked the likely ones.any idea what distance he might be on about

    • @deano27671
      @deano27671  5 лет назад +1

      The only thing I can think of is that he's broken the 1500m WR more than anyone else; 3 times, although one of those equalled the WR, and even that was only an equal WR due to the 'rounding up to nearest tenth' rule in place at the time.
