Running sucks. But running in unison while singing a cadence does the job. Takes your mind off of it. Honestly, for me, it was the most relaxing part of boot camp. For me, at least.
It was the morale booster we ALL needed!! The pump of boots in complete unison and the hype of these cadence kept us motivated beyond what we thought we couldn't do!!! I know this specific cadence when it was recorded was for those who were becoming Drill Sergeants, but this same unison was in Airborne School and Air Assault School too!!
I'll never forget hearing my drill sergeants screaming "dig deep!" during our runs, stuck with me to this day, and is something I think of whenever I'm facing a challenge. I miss being a soldier.

My late husband, a Marine, would have me listening to cadence, needless to say, when I’m getting our son ready or doing house chores, I’m blasting this 😂, RIP my love…I got it from here!
@Axe Cannon I remember I was in Ft Leonard Wood for basic in the middle of winter it sucked massively having to jog in that weather. Even worse I got station in Ft Carson afterwards and it wasn't any better weather wise
It’s been 2 years since getting out of the Army honorably. I only served 4 years in Alaska. Sometimes I feel like I could’ve did more time and had more experiences. And sometimes I feel like I didn’t do enough while in the service to earn my right to be able to call myself a veteran. But although I don’t dare to give myself credit, it’s running into songs/cadences like this, that remind me to just keep marching. To set those unworthy emotions aside and just hustle onward. Cause in one way or another, we are all soldiers in this life. 💯 Hope whomever is reading this, had a good day, week, month, and year. And an even better life 💯✨
You have more right than me. Every time veterans day rolls along people will tell me "thank you for your service." But I only served a year in national guard before having to be medically discharged. I still don't think I deserve to be called a veteran. I haven't done anything compared to the people currently in and the soliders who fought. I was just medical administration.
The Big green machine is like a vehicle. Many working parts, some do more than others, but every piece no matter how small, is needed to keep that machine running. Always be proud you donned the uniform and never sell yourself short.
As much as that probably weighs on you, you were where you were for a reason. Just imagine a situation up there in the wild north where we all know what they're really doing up there and boom you would have been needed for something that affected every citizen and maybe the world. You know what I'm not saying. You were there for a reason and if you rode a desk you rode a desk but you were there and READY TO DIE for your brother's and sisters and don't you dare take that away from yourself. EVER. Only feel like you didnt do your job if you actually didnt do your job. Everyone has an important part to play, and you did that. Now if you wanna hear a story of someone who really has no right calling themselves a Vet but is buckle up here we go: my best friend of 15+ years was on the last day of of Army basic White phase and this motherfucker had been neglecting a pain in his hip for weeks and didn't report it or report to infirm and wouldn't you know it on their LAST RUCK OF WHITE PHASE his whole femur snapped clean in half when he took a step and folded him like a pretzel. Flash forward: he was pushed out with full disability benefits for the rest of his life AND VETERAN STATUS and that man didn't do shit and he'll be the first go say that but he "earned it" You did your part. Thanks for sticking it through and I hope civilian life is treating you well.

THEY ALL RAN 11 MILES , NON-STOP .. If you could have seen the light in their eyes , it would have amazed you ............. CHANTS WHILE RUNNING WORKS , ( ASK ANY SOLDIER )
Same, that's the weird thing I noticed. When I'm running by myself, brick wall. When I'm running in formation with a Cadence Caller, I could go for miles. To this day, I never could understand why that is.
There’s a book about this phenomenon called :”Keeping Together In Time; Dance and drill in human history” by William McNeill. Once you’re moving in step with others, whether it’s running or marching (with song) it becomes like a dance and time flies by. In some cases people get into a state of trance. Don’t know if there are any recent studies on it in the military though.
Emphasizes that when you run, if you can find some way to run and get your mind off of it, it becomes incredibly easier. Same here. Running by myself, unbearable and hard. But with a team and cadence leader, we'd run for MILES before our Sgt informed us we passed a double digit mile length.
My son use to love hearing this song on the commercial back when he was almost 1 years old. He’ll be 4 in April 2021 & I just played it tonight after all these years & he jumped up, to see what I was watching on my IPad. I really think he remembers this.
I thank you and I thank him slightly more. I don't care enough about me because I believe I'm a strong one. But thanks for looking for the rest. Your sacred work is not forgotten. Take that from a liberal but the people come first. You stood up for me and them. I love you
