Why Sundown? : • What happens at Sundown?

For the Acter Feat: It would be *Performance* You're trying to imitate and make it look and sound like what you're imitating at first glance in a 1 on 1 or for a crowd of people. It would a deception check if you were going to have a one-on-one conversation with a person that is intimately knowledgeable about the person you are imitating. If you are pretending to blend in say in a ballroom of nobles. That would be a performance check. As they have a certain Etiquette that nobles follow. Performance for initial appearances, then Deception check for scrutiny of the low rolled or fail Performance check.
Actor is good because Disguise self doesn’t cover your voice. It should include Performance and Deception.
The halt part of the sentinel feat is a 10th level Cavalier fighter feature that also allows you to opat any enemy they moves 5ft within your reach
Performance/Deception
The way I've looked at it, is if the NPC personally knows the person that's being impersonated, ie a commoner, guard or servant, then at a distance or simply calling out while out of sight, would be acting, as you would need to impersonate mannerisms and speech patterns.
Without magical intervention, face to face contact would be deception as you'd need to try and stop that NPC from getting a clear look at you, or justify why that person would be somewhere the NPC wasn't expecting.
If you are impersonating someone that's unfamiliar to the area (ie the king coming to some remote backwater community) that would be straight up deception. They have no history to compare anything about that person to, only rumours.
Crossbow and gun should 100% be added together or applied as the same. Since there are pistols for the duel weilding and disadvantage in melee applies to guns as well. Guns in dnd are just crossbows with a reskin
Eh guns cause a desync, I have a player in my campaign that wanted a gun and has since tried to execute full health enemies and npcs by walking up and blowing their heads off, if it were a crossbow he had been using I don't believe it would have been an issue.
@@gabrieljones7642 why wouldn't of that still been an issue? Why couldn't you hold a crossbow to someone's head the same way you hold a gun? If your talking pistols, then it's a hand crossbow. Trust me, if someone point blank fired a crossbow into your forehead you would instantly be dead too. Sometimes it's better to role-play the death rather than let the complications of the "video game" health interfere and cause issues. Why not let them murder the npc and change the whole campaign to be designed around that moment?
The Fighting Style: Protection -2 to the enemy's attack roll? That won't help at all at higher levels. If you have an AC 17. Being hit with a 21 to 26 is very common. WIZ needs to change this by adding the Prof+2
Didn't spell sniper use to give you a cantrip? I guess they didn't like that people would use this feat to get booming blade to use with Reach weapons?
I think actor should not use a flat DC, lose the bonus to charisma, and become a level 1 feat as it would make sense for a backstory and thus your free feat
Should use charisma bonus
I think when trying to impersonate an NPC, performance should be used for NPCs that don’t personally know the person while deception is used for NPCs that do.
Martial feats being nerfed while casters get even more broken stuff feels sad....
It looks like so far all feats are what used to be called "half-feats" and can give you the original gameplay tweak in addition to a +1 in a stat.
Do you think this will be the way going forward or will there be new feats available at higher levels which won't give you a +1 but will be much more powerful in exchange
I feel like some of the prerequisites for feats are too restrictive.
Lol some of these are ripped straight out of baldurs gate 3. Funny looking at it in hindsight. I wonder how much brainstorming wizards did with Larian.
Why didn't they also add Swimming speed to the Feat to Athlete? Olympic Swimmers are also considered Altheres. When I see this Feat, my mind instantly sees an Olympic Athlete of the caliber of character. I love the + Prof/d8 Idea. :)
I do like the actor feat, I think they're trying to go with the feeling of an actual actor, when i watch a movie or show I don't feel that the actors are lying or trying to deceive me, they are trying to perform a convincing role to me. It is technically a lie of course but the intent behind it is not meant to feel like a malicious deception. ( that was a bit too much wall of text but that's how I feel bout it)
Athlete and actor both should be 1st level
I honestly believe they should seperate ASIs and feats
100%
I think actor is super broken. Mimicking voices is sooooooo broken omg
You are not wrong, I play an elloquence bard with the actor feat as it is right now, minimum 20deception at level 5,
It warps rp to such a degree that I lose control of my character while it does story things and i play a secondary one with the rest of the group.
The change to performance will only be a slight nerf, mostly to actually have a chance at failing rather than just autosucceeding at everything except very hard & impossible (25&30) at level 5 which is probably a lil to early.
Having fun with the barbarian crunchy though while i wait for the dm to give me back the main pc :-)
and actor
The way they’re reworking feats and fighting styles looks like playing a combat bard will very difficult. This concerns me greatly, as I love the College of Swords…
Let's wait for the Swords rework, if there is one.
Mark my word, those higher up grognard will nerf warrior class to the point of should be removed
How to kill martials part1
The new dual wielder feat is a straight downgrade from 5e's, I'd much rather have the +1 AC over the +1 Dex.
If your Dex is an odd number then the +1 to dex gives you a +1AC. My experience is that people select "Half Feats" toward ability scores that are odd so that the modifier increases.
The half feat aspect is generally better as it leads towards stat progression and can still indirectly give you a +1 to AC on top of all the other benefits you get from leveling dex.
@@M9Seradon right, but how useful is that +1 after you've already hit 20 dex?
2:58 i think it depends on what you're using it for. as the name "actor" might suggest being on a stage in a play, performance would make sense. but since you can act in other areas, such as acting like a guard or w/e, deception would be the better option. i'd likely similarly give advantage for the roll in whichever check is being used (or split the actor feat into 'stage actor' getting performance, and 'improv actor' getting deception.. basically letting the feat be taken twice.. though that might be over doing it)
as for actor vs disguise self.. disguise self might be better to make you look like the person, but actor will let you, well, act like the person. if theres any subtile body movements they do, speech patterns they have. maybe they have just a slight eye blink when they're annoyed.. actor should let you replicate those movements. all in the act of impersonating them.
also, actor doesnt disguise you.. it says "while disguised"
so you'd use disguise self (or a disguise kit) to look the part, then use actor to play the part. two different things.
i'd probably make the dc lower for anyone whos using both than to anyone using just one or the other
Did he just gloss over Lightly Armored being a 1st level feat? So you can take it as a free feat with your background and start with a big AC bump as a Rogue, Warlock, Bard, Wizard or Sorcerer. Not as good on Rogue as the casters but really hard to turn that down as an unarmored or light armor only caster. Especially with Warcaster at 4 with a casting stat bump.
I never even read class features above 12th level, let alone these epic boons. I have no idea what these people are trying to say- that IceWind Dale is going to last up to level 20 now?
proformance for charisma casters or people proficent in it otherwise deception. could also home brew it to work with deception.
Sentinal should have size requirements on it. Like, you can Halt any creature one size larger than you or smaller.
Hate the nerf to Sharpshooter. The +10 damage made me feel like I could keep up with the cool spellcasters and madlad warriors using only my bow. I know it made balance hard early game but could have just left it alone and made it a higher level requirement.
We all know how much Sam loves him some feet- I mean feats :)
I am gonna miss the martial Equalizer of +10 damage on each attack you make with a -5 to hit. I would advocate for a +2xproficiency damage for -proficiency to hit, or simply proficiency to damage no negative. Otherwise spell casters are going to run away on martial characters.
