I unboxed that Hoover Sensotronic on my 20th birthday in 1989. I used to film vlogs for my pen pal Sue on a Panasonic M7 VHS camcorder and still have most of the footage. I can’t explain the Paddington, it just happened to be in the room I filmed the video. I remember seeing the Sensotronic on Tomorrow’s World and rushed to turn on my video recorder but missed the start of it, so it was great to see the whole thing. Howard also demonstrated an upright Hoover vacuum that listened to the dirt entering the bag and increased the power until everything was picked up. I have that clip on my channel. I can’t explain my interest in vacuum cleaners because my Mum told me I was around 18 months old when I started showing an interest in vacuums and it seems that it’s a common theme among collectors who also report that they started young. Every year around Christmas I do shoutout videos for very young collectors who seem to like the smiley faced Henry vacuums the best.
