Just figured out when I try to learn this, I saw that the white rectangle has a border, a black border on its up and bottom. So whenever I want to mix it with other shapes like circle, quarter, etc, the borders still appear as a divider between two shapes. Just wondering, is there a good way to solve this issue?
Hey in my case the patterns are not merging inside the circle
This reminds me of Franco Grignani, amazing way of using all the resources from Illustrator an photoshop, very good!
quick and to the point. thank you! i'm so proud of what i was able to create using your tutorial.
Great tutorial, very simple and easy to follow. Thanks Chris!
This was perfect for what I needed - and worked as expected! Thank you so much for posting!
I'm gonna start learning photoshop and you've given how a pro thinks and how fast you work and (in your other videos) how much Planning it takes (which shocked me, even though I have taught college level math) . thank you. thank you and thank you again.
At first I found it difficult to learn from your videos, because it can sometimes be really hard to follow along with how fast you're going. However, by pausing every once in a while to catch up, I'm able to learn so much from you. This tutorial is OP! If y'all want a real challenge, change the speed of the video to 1.25 or higher...
This was perfect for what I needed !! Thank you 😊
Good as always !!! I've been following your blog since the beginning !!! Best regards from Dominican Republic !!?
Thank´s for everything Chris, great tutorial!
omg this was exactly what i needed!! i was worried i wouldn’t be able to find a tutorial, you’re a lifesaver!
Super easy to follow and straight to the point, thank you!!
Great tutorial, thank you for sharing!
Neat tutorial! loved this brush!
Fantastic! I add gradient map on top and used blend mode to color the whole composition. I can see uneven surface with color tints. Thanks a lot! How can dare someone give thumb down and shame upon oneself.
Yet another brilliant tut Mr Spooner
GREAT TUTORIAL! THANK YOU!
Man, this is awesome!!!
This is a great idea for the bottoms of a sneaker!
Perfect vid… concise and informative. Thx!
Great tutorial, thanks!
Excellent, thank you.
thanks for sharing! great!
Thanks a lot 🙏 I fond this prefect method
I was having the same problems as many other users so I decided to copy exactly as show in the video.
You'll need 16 black rectangles and 15 white rectangles with the dimensions of W: 17.778 px and H: 873.333 px. The circle will have the dimensions of W/H: 636.064 px. Also, expanding the rectangle shapes is not required.
That was tremendously helpful. Thank you.
Very Nice! Thanks.
this is good tutorial simple and clear
great job!!!

Hi, I can't get to do the circle, it looks like a half circle. Im drawing a circle no fill and applying the brush and it doesn't cover the whole circle
i can't get manage to accurately light up the lines of the circle and the straight lines like at 2.55, can someone help me ?
I have transparent white lines, what should I do?
hello sir can you please teach me how to make same design like the way you make but not through circle but by using oval shapes.
When i create an ellipse it doesn't connect at the both ends. not sure why is that
I can't make the second circle it don't cut like is in video :(
Can you help me ?!
Thnx a lot
Same here. When I try to make the single quarter circle by deleting two points, it makes a quarter that is less than 90 degrees.... I'll just wait here for an expert answer.
If you want to sort that out, I think you should expand until there is an empty space (it will appear as your background colour) in the center. Bob's your uncle.
I tried this following step by step but my brush keeps making horizontal lines, anybody knows a possible solution??
same! horizontal instead of vertical brush
After dragging the circle tool and pressing the brush preference to create those lined circles, i just keep getting blacked out ones with two thin lines around the outside. Everything is checked as white with no stroke, my artboard looks like yours but its not working. Whats wrong?
+Tanya Richards The first thing that springs to mind is to make sure the shape doesn't have a Fill set. Does that help at all?
When I delete and anchor point instead of a half circle I get a flat tire (rounded top) shape
+Tanya Felsheim I can produce similar effects with the scissors tool and then delete anchor point tool so I can make it work...but would love to know what I am doing wrong with the initial delete anchor point idea
@@mycottageheart It's a rather late answer, but since other people might be wondering about it, too - you need to pick the Direct Selection Tool, then select the anchor with it, and press the Delete button. If you use the Remove selected anchor point option, you end up with the flat tire; if you use Delete - you get the perfect half of the circle. I had no idea what I was doing wrong, too, until I tried that. I hope this helps someone!
Love that you took time to answer I think I figured it out but now need to go play with it again
I follow all the instructions here, but when I overlap the lines they show through each other... It doesn't look like on the video, that "over / under" sensation... it looks like a hatch for me... :( What's happening?
Same...
I did the same thing...you have to have white rectangles...not just space. He turns them white, he doesn't delete them.
the shapes create can't seems to line up properly even with smart guide, it was jaggedly attached. any suggestions?
i had this problem too. did you end up fixing it? if so pls help!
I followed this in Illustrator and it works great but now I'm trying to do this in Photoshop it doesn't work the same.
I can't work out how to make the rectangles repeat. CMD+D doesn't work. Can anyone tell me what the equivalent is please
Any chance of an update in 2022? :)
If your brush is coming out horizontal what worked for me was rotate the lines horizontally & instead of Creating Art Brush Create "Pattern brush"
ty
I have done this tutorial 5 times! I love it BUT I cannot get anything to line up. I put on the smart guides, took them off, you name it. But it doesn't line up like yours. PLEASE HELP. Thanks
When making rectangles, make sure it has no stroke; only fill. It should work.
I'm also having this issue :(
How are you so design smart???
To Lola Migas! I'm looking for your dad Stanley..please pass this on if he wants to respond .Thanks..!
the tutorial was too fast paced for a noob like me in future videos pleae slow down the pace thank awesome work tho
2:22 - 2:35 iam confused make it, i cannot
Create a circle. Along this circle there are 4 anchor points, choose Scissor tool (C) t cut the circle at these anchor points:
- To create half circle use Scissor tool to click on the opposite points
- To create a quarter/ three quarter click on the adjacent points
In the first circle I believe he used the delete anchor point tool (-) to erase one point and got that effect, but the Scissor tool will work for all the mentioned shapes
Is this what you need? Hope it helps anyways
Can you please provide the png of this design🙂😕
What is the purpose of the music in the background...? very distracting and loud
DOESN'T WORK PROPERLY...
If your brush is coming out horizontal what worked for me was rotate the lines horizontally & instead of Creating Art Brush Create "Pattern brush"
