Rappi, Didi and a currency converter are must haves in Colombia!
Yup, just ad in Uber and you're all set!
@@AKJoelbut never tinder lol
I live in Colombia 🇨🇴 and I use it Joel
Yeah it's great hey!
Got to Colombia 3 days ago; loving it. Rappi is so much better than anything in USA.
Glad you're enjoying your time here!
I live in Colombia and use Rappi religiously. I love Turbo!
Turbo is the best!
I love Rappi ! Great tips, thank you ! I dont use it much when I'm there because I enjoy the scenery of Medellin, the chaos, the people and the fresh tropical fruits in the market. Looking forward to returning in 2 weeks.
Enjoy your trip!
Thanks, AK. Great stuff!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Never paid attention to the conversion trick. Thanks for the heads up!
Yeah I'm sure they're making plenty of extra money from that little trick.
Thanks, never knew about the mark up on the conversion.
Yeah it's easy to miss!
Thanks for letting me know about this app. I uploaded it, but was having a hard time setting my address in Soledad ( Barranquilla) Atlántico. I'm in a new condo building and it did not recognize the address. Will have to try the map feature when I get back there in a few weeks. Excited to try it out. Thanks again.
Also worth to mention that when buying grocery, using the app the expire date of ingredients/products will be a blind shot. I personally prefer to buy fresh products myself whenever possible and leaving the other products with long nor expire date to a Rappi delivery.
That's a great point. Also the fact that the Rappi usually doesn't care and is working fast, which can be annoying when you're buying products like fruit. Instead of picking ripe avocados, they'll bring you avocados so hard you could build a house out of them 😂
another possible CON would be that some times you will see there is something that says "Restaurant's Rider"..this means you are ordering through Rappi, but your order is fulfilled and delivered directly through the Restaurant. The downside of this is you cant track the order through the app and you cant contact the delivery person, which you may need to do if you have a tricky/ unclear/ not super precise address for delivery( which is pretty common in Colombia lol)
Interesting, although I think I've only gotten the "restaurant rider" once in 2.5 years.
@@AKJoel less common in Medellin, I've seen if far more frequently in smaller cities..Valledupar to be specific, I would say a good 60% of the restaurant are like that..and they also dont have Turbo up there as of yet
AK: Thanks for your informational videos.
I am an Indian living in California and am planning to retire in Pereira or Medellin.
Best of luck with the retirement 😊
Nice. Normally do the drivers and you receive better service if you tip on the app or give cash after they get there.
And fyi.....RAPPI is in mexico and brazil as well. More South American countries I think but I'm not sure which
Yup I used it in both of those countries too!
Im eder padilla tennis coach, i like your video joel
Gracias Eder! Nos vemos en la cancha!
Hey Joel, really I like your videos really appreciate all your positivity and if any of my comments go against the guidelines or your standards, please let me know and I will delete them. It would be great if you could make a video about the Colombian police not helping American citizens, when they’re in need. from everyone I’ve ever talked to who’s been in a really bad situation and gone with a Colombian friend to the police station and waited for hours to file a police report and just be told they’re not able to help American citizens do you know anything behind us? That would be much appreciated. Thank you
I've never heard them saying "we can't help American citizens" - so I can't comment on what's going on there. Need more details on the particular case.
Can i download and use with my original USA sim card once I get to colombia?
I believe so, yes.
Just wifi would do....
I don’t know if it’s still like this but two years ago I had cash delivered to me by a guy on a motorcycle through Rappi. He pulled it out of his pocket, not in an envelope or anything and handed it to me, it was over 1 million Colombian over $250usd.
The only downside I could find is you can’t order Venezuelan friends yet. (Sorry I’m not trying to be crass)
Yeah now there's a limit - no more than COP 400,000 I believe.
Australians pronounce burger pretty funny. Buugahh
My girlfriend always laughs when I say that word too 😂😂
if i go to exito will the prices be lower? I noticed in Mexico prices on Rappi are higher then at the grocery store.
Never tried - honestly I'm happy to pay whatever for the convenience. But if you go to the Exito website you should be able to compare there.
yeah its a little higher but not that much
"Super convenient?!" Sounds to me like an essential survival tool for the newly arrived who may not yet speak Spanish well enough to avoid starvation!😁
Also, I assume these delivery people are *_extremely well_* vetted for the safety and security of the customers.
Well you actually need some level of Spanish to order things lol
