    Hey Ak Joel, I’ve been following your channel for a while, thank you for the great work you’ve been putting in. What is your take on the xenophobia situation in Medellin now created by the major, and lately there’s been all kind of xenophobic sign saying no gringos etc now the perception of gringos as completely changed and being look at as these monsters that come to take advantage of minors.
    I’m from the US and
    I’ve bought my flight ticket to come to Medellin for the first time next month in June and now watching this unfolding all over youtube. My question is.
    How do you see the interaction with the gringos and the locals first hands as of lately from your experience in your surrounding? Are gringos not welcomed there anymore?

      Hey mate, thanks for your question and I understand your concern.
      To be honest, there is no xenophobic situation mate. Maybe a very small percentage of people, but you're always gonna get that in any country.
      Nobody has treated me poorly in the 3 years I've been here and that's the same story for many of my friends (black, white, etc.)
      To summarize : gringos are more than welcome but s*x tourists are not. Colombians hate them and the mayor himself is on a rampage to stamp out this type of tourism.

      In most countries they require minimum 6 months. Don’t think it’s different in Colombia

    The brokerage fees seem to high especially if the amount involved is high. 0.6 to 0.8% of 100,000 USD would be $6K or $8K just for facilitating a transaction. Is this because doing it through a brokerage firm is more secure than just doing a wire transfer to seller when all other steps are done.

      I think your maths are a little bit off mate. 0.6% of $100,000 is $600, not $6000.

      You are correct Joe. I am a finance major. I calculated in my head using a million dollar value. The fees are quite reasonable.

      Thanks for all you do AK. What is the least expensive way to transfer money into a brokerage account from the U. S ?

    I heard him mention down payment. I thought you had to buy property outright at full price in Colombia. Is that correct? How does the down payment fit into that model?

    • @AKJoel
      @AKJoel  2 месяца назад +2

      Once you make the agreement to purchase you pay a deposit (or down payment), then when you do all the closing paperwork you pay the remainder.
