This 1960 movie 64 years ago. The boy and girl are now about 75.I don't know where this film is made but Flanders Dog happened in Flanders where what is now in Belgium.
It's not really uncommon for remakes or adaptations to be as inaccurate as the original versions so it's not that uncommon for the characters who originally died to have their fates rewritten in a way that they never died in later versions
Nello and his dog go to the village church, where the pastor covers them with a woolen blanket, thus saving their lives. Two days later, one of the judges comes. Because he thought Nello was the true winner, he asks him to stay with him. As years pass, Patrasche dies and Nello becomes a famous artist. 👨🎨👩🎨🧑🎨
this isn't how the story goes, is it? Nello and patrasche are both supposed to die at the end, right? After Nello sees the painting he dies happy and accomplished as Patrache dies in his arms, of course I haven't read the novel in probably 4 years so maybe im wrong.

Pretty sure if a Disney animated version is made, the ending will also be revised in which nello and his dog never died.. and the ending will probably take place in a different season as opposed to the novel in which nello and Patrasche died due to the ending taking place on a winter

I know this is altered but the death of Nelo and Patrasche should occur. I think that's the only way they could've gotten the eternal peace from all the hardships they had experienced. This may have had happy ending but their death is definitely a gift from God 🥺

That was the ending in the novel by Ouida.
But since it was too sad and unfit for children, the movie ending was made much happier.
