    This video is a cracker Lisa! Again, you are doing a great service by pointing things out that almost no one clarifies about living in Australia and then likely don't appreciate enough. Though I have been a sceptic about Australia when I was a very young adult, I remember when I first returned from living overseas for several years, I was really happy about many of the things you mentioned such as a great coffee culture, strangers saying a friendly hello, general friendliness in public dealings, the easy going, laid back approach to life and how people just generally let you be. :) I just couldn't overlook the benefits no matter how I had been spoiled before. :)

    Hello, I am back in the UK. I got a sponsored work visa back in 2018. Long story short, the job wasn't what I was sold and it was generally a disaster. Plus I was in a very remote part of Oz. Anyway, that experience taught me a lot about myself and in hindsight I should have asked a lot more questions and visited Tasmania before I signed up. I now have 2 new opportunities for sponsored work visa's. The first is with a different company, much smaller in Perth where I have a second interview this week. The second is with my current company in UK that is setting up in Oz and I can go in the first wave, all sponsored again but in Brisbane. I am a bit apprehensive about doing all this again after the last bad experience, but this time I am asking a lot more questions and will visit Perth to decide if I am made an offer this week. One thing I did find difficult was emigrating on my own, my family made a big song and dance about it last time with a last meal as a family out, cards and emotional phone calls, it made it ten times harder. This time I probably won't tell them and just go and let them know a month or two in Perth or Brisbane. :)

    • @dreamingofdownunder
      @dreamingofdownunder  Год назад

      Oh wow! Glad you've got an opportunity again and I hope it goes better than last time! I'm sure you'll enjoy Perth or Brisbane more. It is certainly hard saying goodbye to family. Even now when I go back to visit after 7 years, it's still hard leaving again!

      @@dreamingofdownunder Thanks. I got the Perth offer, just trying to find out what the expectations are to move to Brisbane with my current company now. As suspect its very fluid as we have not got a business started :) I am thinking it is best to stick with my much bigger current employer and help setup Brisbane, as the worst that can happen is I simply transfer back to my old job in London

    Welcome to our wonderous country and congratulations on escaping from Pomgolia . You are a beautiful breath of fresh air and no I'm not pissing in your pocket , you don't know how refreshing it is to watch an honest summation of someone who is not a loud whinjing pommie or yank buggers who have never been here or if they have its been on a 10 day package tour that stayed in a tourist destination and immediately become experts on God's country Australia . You along with a small but genuine group of immigrants who are on u tube give a fair and balanced look at ourselves without all the usual stereotypical bullshit about everything trying to kill you , or its too hot , or its so exspensive , or it's so far away from civilisation , as an ex Pomgolian (71yrs here) myself I thank my late parents every day for bringing me to this paradise and assuring me a future full of promise and contentment , we may not be the best place on earth but for me we're way ahead of whichever is. , you have my subscription which I give out sparingly and look forward to more informative reactions ,

      Thanks Gary. You'll be fine moving over on your own. You just have to put in a lot of effort to meet people etc. Since you haven't visited before, make sure you do lots of research on things like weather and rent/property prices in the different cities, as it varies hugely. Things like the rainy season up north would affect outdoor work in the summer, as well as heat and humidity. Hope you make it over here! I'm really glad I made the move!

    Thanks for the cool new content. In regard to the food options you mentioned, I find it quite difficult to find Bio food. In stores and for affordable prices. I realised it as my partner only buy and consume bio food back in France and in Australia it is very limited and expensive. I think the market has minimal demand for it and probably won't change in years to come.
    Also, I have seen cyclists with spikes sticking out of their helmets, and I always wondered why. Now I know, so thanks for that haha.

      Here's the list of eligible occupations for that visa and a few others. immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/visas/working-in-australia/skill-occupation-list#

      @zalired8925 Год назад +1

      Plenty of snakes, but you could be less than a metre from one in the grass but you would never know, even if you almost tread on one. They will either stay perfectly still and hope the huge scary human doesn't see them, or they are off as soon as they feel you approaching, believe me, they are more scared of you. I have tiger snakes everywhere behind me and in my yard but I can honestly say that I've never seen one, only their shed skin or slide marks under the fence or house. In all fairness the only time people beside actual professional snake catchers get bit is if they attempt to catch or kill it. Then naturally they are going to strike with intent to bite, and in most cases it is a defensive dry bite injecting no venom. They need that venom for prey and wasting it is too much an effort to replace. True fact. Exactly the same with spiders, you may see plenty, but don't poke them and they won't bite back. I'd be more worried about a drop bear attacking from above than a snake biting on the ground or being taken by a mob of dingaroos. But the biggest danger, especially in the cities is a species of human called taxi drivers.
