I was at Canada's Wonderland recently and it was the same there. Stuffed animals, maybe thousands of hair ties in various places. Hats. Shirts. Even Visa cards. All tossed on roofs and hard to reach places like it's the cool thing to do
personally it's more intense in the back....you have the whole front end pulling you. I get why people like the front row but the back is where it's at on that ride!
I was on Dimondback and I asked if we could sit in the front row and they said no and I had a group of 5 and there was also another group of 4 and they took 2 people with me and my friend and 2 people with me and my other friend and the other person in my group I didn't know where they sat they just split up both of our groups

It doesn’t make much difference at all, I agree. Sometimes it’s just awkward holding your arms up or they get blown back down anyways. Just be comfortable and enjoy the ride. Hell, sometimes I will close my eyes and just feel the free fall of different hills and it’s more intense

If you put your arms back they will get wet. That’s about it.

It makes the negative g-force feel more intense. That floating sensation you get at the crest of the hills.

it makes it feel like your flying, plus (mentally) a little more of a thrill because on this ride you literally are butt out of seat for most of it
It weirdly increases the enjoyability of the experience.
