CS2 is an FPS game so you can't see your hats too often, TF2 has hats while being an FPS game is because you can taunt in that game (and you could see it), meanwhile Deadlock is a TPS game so you can see your hats all the time. As for why it's in CS2's source code, I think it's because CS2 and Deadlock are using the same engine (Source 2), could be there for test or something.

when adding new cosmetics to CS I usually don't think about the quantity, but about the cost they would give it. I imagine that to customize an agent with "cool" clothes you will either be lucky to find them, or you will have to pay a lot of money for quite a few months.

I think the best way to mitigate disorienting cosmetics on enemy players would be to add some sort of customizable highlighter color like red or yellow like in Valorant, where the cartoonish artstyle and unpredictable abilities can disorient you but you can clearly see enemy players despite their goofy designs that don't take away from gameplay.

I miss one mod from the old 1.6 days, the WC3 war craft mod, some could play as undead and lvl up to become faster jump higher etc with diffrent clases. Would be insane to make a costum map with that mod on ^^
i would hate to see this cus i already struggle to see some skins in certain positions, i know there would be a meta to customise your character so that you could be harder to see and i just dont want that, if they added a toggle to turn off the player skins i would be ok with it.

Im thinking the pet will be an execution/taunt or a character special. Say if they are implementing ragdoll destruction, that could mean you can tell your pet to devour the dude you killed. Or you can inspect your pet wich will be different things you can tell it to do, like you pull out your pet and kick it into a goal or something/throw it at bowling pind. It does a dance or he plays fetch, whatever. Many possibilities that lasts for a few sec, shows off your pet and does not interfere with gameplay. Like weapon inspect its 1st person only.
I have no evidence for this, but it really feels like at some point there were people at Valve who properly cared about CS... operations, lore, skins, actual value from stickers etc. That feels gone now.
