      Hell yeah. Ti 11 here. I’m pretty sure it was the first ti 22” ever made. I did have to send it back twice for cracks since I bought it in Nov 2018. Once at the seat clamp (no biggie) and once on the downtube by the gusset (much more of an issue). Based on what he said about frame life - esp. since this is ti we’re talking about - I’ll probably replace it next year.

    • @leviwooten3795
      @leviwooten3795 2 года назад +1

      @@TheShift1313 man I forget how spoiled my highschool weld program was over 1 million on our weld shop 60+ name brand welders most within 2-3 years old several brand new Lincoln smart welders that allowed you to see how your weld stacked up against the last (welder designed for human production) so the welder knows what areas he has to slow down in exc. Was pretty crazy had a robotic welder for us to learn on and program. Was pretty cool got to mess around with the auto pulse for aluminum and I was able to control a way better bead than everyone else because I would add my filler in as the pulse went lower and when it went higher it would spread the puddle out as I penetrate the raw base metal. For steel not much of a purpose for it but these sensitive metals the pulse is amazing to use to control a puddle. He could weld it without pulse but probably has his reasoning but the pulse is definitely a better setting to run to to the various angles he has to do pulse like I said allows for better puddle control

Mike was always around with the crew and to be honest he was not the nicest guy to us. After a while, if I saw that white full face, I would just leave my bike on the rack and go do something else. He seems a bit more mellow these days, I hope his business keeps doing well.

    Great job on the video and getting time with Mike. First off, there are so many top quality stuff being made in inconspicuous buildings like this. You can see where Mike put his efforts and money. That frame jig it awesome. He is right, most framebuilders tack the frame in the jig. Mike's jig is meant to weld the whole frame in the jig. It was also great that he had a titanium frame in the jig while you were there. I'm not a BMX guy (I missed that era), but I was looking for bicycle framebuilding content and I found Mike to be insightful and generous with sharing his knowledge and even his business plan. Going from pro rider to pro frame builder for Olympic and Champion riders.

    from a bike rider and an engineering student who recently picked up a 2009 Norco Ryde Chromoly 26" dirt jumper (so 13 year old bike), I'd love a video for those out there who don't know where to look and what to look for on a frame. During the pandemic, we all know supplies are limited. I always check for ovalized headset and bottom bracket, I also hunt for cracks. I guess this could also be a maintenance video for people to check their own bikes. Also what is a sign of a frame coming to the end of its life but has a bit of time left and what indicators say to replace it before it breaks. Love your work Scotty and this video was great.
