      Thanks for the kind words. How exciting to have a new pool. We typically replace a liner every 8 or 9 years. As far as replacing the pool itself time will tell. I suspect the pool will last at least another 15 or 20 years in addition to the approximately 15 years we have owned it.

    I've used the Gorilla Waterproof clear tape on the spool - is less noticeable and sticks way better than any pool patch I've used and I've had a pool for years....The tape sits flatter on the vinyl than patches so doesn't loosen around edges due to pool vacuums.

    What stairs do you have and how do you keep them from not floating up

    • @SilverLiningDayDreams
      @SilverLiningDayDreams  2 года назад

      The pool stairs are in three pieces. 2 of the pieces are the handles that are above the deck and they protrude into the water about 12 inches and the part of them in the water is hollow so that the stairs ( the 3rd piece) slide into those hollows.
      The 2 handle pieces each have a hole in them so that they can each can be bolted to the wood deck.
      Under the bottom step there is a hollow rectangular compartment that has 3 or 4 screws you can remove to open it and I filled the compartment with approx 2 by 3 inch field stones. So between the ladder being bolted to the stairs on each side and the weight of the stones the ladder stay down.
      Hope that makes sense 😊
      Sorry I don’t know the name of the stairs because it was probably 15 years or so ago that we purchased them.

How can i get the tape to hold as it’s in the sides of the pool and not the bottom so I can’t use like a rock or anything simple like that . Ani suggestions ?

    • @SilverLiningDayDreams
      @SilverLiningDayDreams  Год назад

      The idea is to press tape such that water is pressed out and there are no wrinkles and try to keep pressure for at least 2 minutes. Maybe you can hold tape there longer. I don’t see how you can keep a heavy object on it for anther 24 hours like the directions indicate. Maybe do a test on a smaller area and see how it hold up. Maybe it will be enough. Let us know how it turns out. You got this!

    been smoking 30 years and i can hold my breath 10x longer than this guy. heh. always get. a kick how people fill their lungs with air and try to hover at the bottom of the pool. The trick to stay on the bottom is to blow the air out of your lungs and you will sink to the bottom without trying. All you fellers who say the tape does not stick is because a key point was left out and that is lighly sanding/properly prepping the area where the tape is to be applied. Tape does not stick to slime but slime will stick to tape and cover/deplete all stickiness. You will need the stickiness so lose the slime.

      I’m guessing you’ve never had to work with asthma, lol?
      🫁 🙂
      I did try to exhale and go to the bottom, but I couldn’t make it work. Probably because of the pressure on my lungs. Being underwater triggers an asthma flare. Good idea though if you’re able to!
      As for the tape, lightly sanding a pool liner isn’t a good option and will diminish the integrity of the pool. We did have the pool cleaned, and the tape worked perfectly for over 2 years until we replace the liner last year.

    I had a pool company tell me that liners don't get holes in them. The only place possible would be at the seam. After patching many holes myself, I disagree. I have to put a new liner in about every 3 years. I just found one today & I'm the only person that uses my pool. :(

    • @SilverLiningDayDreams
      @SilverLiningDayDreams  2 года назад +1

      No, liners definitely get holes in them. We have a few over the years as well. Here in Wisconsin we are ready to put in our third liner in about 20 years (which is actually longer than what we originally thought!). You may have more harsh sun, or it may run year round in a warmer climate which means chemicals are in there longer too, so that would make sense.
      Still, through it all it’s definitely worth it at this stage in our lives!

      We just bought an intex above ground pool. Have had it up for about 3 weeks. I was washing the outside of the liner the other night with a wet washcloth. I swiped down in a spot about half way down and it was like a little tiny granule came off the pool and a pinhole of water started to flow out. Grrr! Now what do I do?! Repair it like y’all have done or follow the rules for a replacement. Empty out all of the over 14,000 gal., pack it up and ship it back to INTEX so they can decide if it’s actually a replaceable defect…? May or may not get a new one. Might have to just patch it anyways. It’s obviously a defect to me. It’s brand new! Thank you for your repair video. Good to know repairs are inevitable.

    No one else sees how crappy that deck is , splinters waiting to happen
    Rip up the flooring and put down composite, pressure wash the rails with a light bleach mixture and then a light stain
    Make it a place worth staying

      Better yet replace the worn hodgepodge deck 😂. We replaced this summer. Here’s video if interested…

      Yes, good idea if you’re able to! I did try that, but it was a lot of pressure on my lungs and I didn’t want to trigger an asthma attack. 🫁 🙂 🏊
      Thanks for leaving a tip!

      Hahahaha! #renewthe lifeinsurance! Seriously though, I have asthma and having Michelle hold me under would definitely trigger a panic asthma attack. Happy we were able to get it fixed though!
