      Hello sir! Hapkido and Aikido share a similar lineage, as they were developed from Daito Ryu Aikijitsu. :)

      It depends on the other persons training and skill, as well as the type of throw. For instance if it was a hip throw the person would have no choice. If it was a wrist throw the person would fall and hurt themselves if they didn’t know how to break fall. Let’s use the throw at the 22 second mark as an example. If my partner didn’t know how to fall properly, an art known as nak sul or ukemi, he would probably fall against his should or stomach onto pavement. This would result in a torn rotator cuff, fractured ribs, facial trauma, etc. what you are seeing is the art of throwing and the art of falling in one motion. Great question!
