I use my 6” only when my spot is littered with trash or iron. For me it’s not as deep as 11” but it will pick coins out of a very trashy site. Thanks for the video Travis.
The loss of depth when recovery speed is increased, and issues with masking are critical flaws in this platform IMO. I'd like to see a comparison test with the Nox800 and XPDeus in your garden.
Travis.. recovery speed will affect depth on all coils, if you want to increase depth lower the recovery speed. advanced Iron bias setting is very important when trying to cut through the nails.. I missed what setting you were using.? Iron audio is what it says.. it's just the audio of the iron.. nothing more. I find .. the 6 inch coil is great for real trashy sites around old picnic table areas.. with the right recovery & iron bias.. you will get fantastic target separation. with depth of 6'' to 8''... You can definitely find great targets that would be masked by the bigger coils.. It's light.. balances the machine much better than the 11.. not as deep as the 11.. but in trashy areas.. it's my main coil. ..slow the recovery speed down ..tweak that iron bias.. it will serve you well & is worth the money. Keep posting those videos..GL & HH
I agree. I was getting 6 to 8 inches on most targets. My recovery speed was 5. That is low but I wanted to push the depth a little. Thanks for the view and the comment
Could you please try the same test in Park 1 50 tones, recovery 2-3, Bias 0, sens 23-25, GB 0 and all metal. Slow swing speed. Want to see if that makes a difference. Thanks
With all detectors it is common knowledge smaller detector coils have reduced depth. I don’t expect the Equinox to be any different. Now with that being said, there are many variables with all detectors, so the comparison should be with other detectors with 6” coils and not so much a comparison with a stock coil, unless a stock coil can separate targets as well as the 6” coil. The 6” coil is a specialty coil designed for trashy environments. Even though the 6” coil may have a reduction in depth, however you may miss certain targets using a stock coil. With my opinion stated I understand u r comparing the stock coil with the 6”coil, this inevitably will reduce depth, but will increase the chances of recovering good targets at depths of 5 to 6 inches or more, depending on soil, using the 6” coil. My recommendation is, as with every doctor, use the smaller coil in trashy areas and the stock coil and the 15” coil in lesser trashy areas.
I have found that the 6 inch coil does not offer me that much of an advantage over the stock coil in heavy iron. It does give me the ability to search tighter areas but the standard coil does a good job in iron as well
The compaction of the soil is different Also some coins are Differnt. For instance some quarters are silver Washington’s and some are SLQs. Also. The higher up the hill you go the soil is less compacted Also some dimes are Mercs, Some are Rosie’s and one is a Barber that is 10 inches. Every machine tested loves that 10 inch Barber Dime but hates the 6 inch Rosie
Our soil here is very very hard bull tallow clay! Its very bad this time of year. That makes my test garden a bit harder for detectors than most gardens. It’s like detecting through 6 to 12 inches of concrete Thanks for the view and the comment. Much appreciated
@@rowanrelics This is the most important post in this thread. Your soil conditions sound semi-horrible and not anything like Minnesota. I was bummed at the video results but now see I need to use the coil myself. I've had it for 3 years and never plugged it in. Thanks for the vid..

Definitely not as deep. Thanks for the view and comment
Great video man 👍🏼

Not showing us his Vdi numbers, looks like the flashes of screen shots are showing - single didgets????

Good information
Thank you for taking the time
Has to be your soil or some variable your overlooking. Your not going to miss 6 inch targets and then hit 10-12 inch targets. Just doesn't make sense.

Our soil right now is brutally hard and dry
Nice test garden 👍
Thanks for the view and comment
Do you know if this coil will also work on a Garrett AT max? Or do they have different connections likely
No
This coil works deepest in field 1. Also do a factory reset
Check out my 6 inch coil test video. I have really mild soil and the depth i get is amazing.

Nice!
I found the coin in my profile pic with the 6 inch coil
That’s awesome
Done
Great video and add you on Facebook and sub to you.
Much appreciated!!!
Not too impressed with the small coil.
I honestly was not either. I’ve tried it at different sites and I do just as good with the stock coil
