An Interview with Sister Persis John -Eye to Eye

In this world, our hunger for worship will wax and wane. It’s appropriate and imperative that we ask God to rekindle a worshipful spirit within us. Sometimes the most powerful prayer we can pray is, “God, make me a worshiper.”

Persis John - please make an attempt to cut down on the instruments . I have asked many pastors how they feel about music instruments - most of them prefer hands then the instrument load on stage . they prefer that people who lead the singing sessions make a call - Most of the times the instruments overpower worship meetings . It drowns the voice of the crowd . One of the dark forces of worship are these instruments - could you please give it a thought ? Th you.

I pray that many worship " leaders " pick up notes about the selection of songs from this interview . Worship Leaders is a wrong word . When you are singing to God , it is between you and God , you don't need a 3rd person . She is right in saying that word based songs can do many things - encounter with God , faith , deliverance . Worship breaks Jericho walls , and open the red seas . Worship is also more than singing to God . We worship God with our life , but that is a different topic . Both of them has missed the Biblical definition of Worship. This is first used in the Bible (Genesis 22) by Abraham when he was about to offer Isaac, his dear son. He told his servants that they would go to the mountain, worship and come back. So he used worship as offering up. Apostle Paul used it in the same sense in Roman's 12:1-2 where he asked the church to offer their bodies as a living sacrifice.
Worship first and foremost means offering up our lives like a whole offering to God, not keeping anything for us. It's living in total surrendering and submission. It's more about living than anything else. Let's Worship God with our lives by surrendering ourselves for He deserves all the glory.
