Very honest recap. I think fedor is just super intelligent. His hands were down because he knows you were going to shoot non stop and he was throwing a sort of lead cross/uppercut that was catching you time and again as your head dropped for the take down. It needed no wind up and its impossible to telegraph. Your downward momentum along with forward drive meant you were applying the force for him, he just needed to tense up and give a little mini uppercut and it worked absolutely brilliantly. His game plan was spot on however chaels also correct fedor was gassing big time towards the end. I felt chael was starting to get the better of the grappling towards the end and if he made it to late in the 2nd i think fedor would have been gassed. But chael knew it was getting stopped so i still think he gave up
Chael : “ I can win this fight but I’m gonna just survive. I felt he got fatigue, he was breathing hard, he punched me 22 times straight, the ref warn me to move, but he didn’t see me move, then I just remember Fedor stop fighting because he was to tired. Pretty amazing recap. I cant even imagine it.
I remember that half a second line from Chaels book, pure quality.
Yeah i remember when fedor was tapping out on chaels face multiple times, but the ref ignored it.
Nice wrap up! Most of us knew it would be a long night for you against Fedor. Get on you, YOU fought the Best of the Best!
Love Chael Sonnen! He is must see tv. No shame in losing to the greatest of all time. Chael you are one of the greatest fighters ever.
The was a very humble and hilarious retelling of the night. That’s why we love Chael.
I love Chael's comment sections! People tease the shit out of him, but I feel like it's not ill spirited!
But chael knew it was getting stopped so i still think he gave up
I'm not normally afraid of much, but Fedor scares me through a TV screen. I would not want to make him angry lol
Chael : “ I can win this fight but I’m gonna just survive. I felt he got fatigue, he was breathing hard, he punched me 22 times straight, the ref warn me to move, but he didn’t see me move, then I just remember Fedor stop fighting because he was to tired. So I spoke Russian to him, to let’s keep fighting, but he was just out of shape. That’s my story”
very professional breakdown. I watched the fight and also thought that the stoppage was a bit quick as the majority of the punches were being blocked. Great protection of the melon ! However I would much rather see a quick stoppage over a late one. one of those nights , Brother. Call it a wrap go have dinner and put it in your rear view mirror.
There was still quite a bit of time left, I guess that has also played a role.
