One of my favorite train layouts. Sadly it no longer exists. This imo redefined the term "miniature world" as it used not only the walls, but floor and ceiling too. They did a beautiful job building this model railroad. Thank you for posting this Rich!

What a waste of such a heavenly, glorious model railroad. Wish it still was operating.

@@oddjob1795it is. Too bad it wasn't put up for sale. After Charles' passing, his daughter in-law inherited it and planned to keep it up, but her husband Ken Kluth passed a few years prior and ran into financial problems. She and the family ended up closing the layout and tore it down and sold off the trains and accessories.

Did they close it after he died?

@dagoodsoldier6715 after a year or two. His daughter in-law had financial problems and ultimately closed it and dismantled it.

I've heard so much about this layout and its owner. I moved to Georgia several years ago but by the time I heard about this treasure, it was no longer. Thanks for this production.

Impressive Model railroad is an understatement! I love that he opens it up every year and gets all those folks and the funds get donated to the charities(a win-win)-did you know that was the same way the model railroad got started at the Carnegie Science center in Pgh? It started out at Charles Bowdish's house and grew from there. Another home run filming all of it! Thanks as always-love every video you guys do!

The railroad still exists, but it is in a terrible state of disrepair. The locomotives and rolling stock are all gone, sold off several years ago. The building is now unheated, and some water damage occurred due to a leaky roof. At some point in the past thieves broke in and stole a few items, but they didn't take anything significant. The overall railroad is still intact, but not operable. It would take a massive cleanup and restoration effort and a lot of money to bring this railroad back to operating condition. That's not likely to happen any time soon.
