The work of Dr Iain McGilchrist feels quite relevant. I'm thinking of his book The Master and His Emmissary about the right and left hemispheres of the brain respectively. Where the left hemisphere has a way of seeing the world that is very much akin to the scientific and disenchanted way that is more or less predominant in the modern world. And the right hemisphere is holistic and inclusive in a way that includes the left hemisphere, much like mysticism includes or enfolds both enchantment and disenchantment.
