I have never been so excited for a game, seriously. This has so much No Man's Sky DNA all over it, but so many things that we have asked for. It is like they took the last 7 years of No Man's Sky work and made something even more refined and amazing. I can't wait to see more!
It looks very good, I've been following NMS since launch day. But I think we should also keep expectations in check, especially since Hello Games is a smaller studio than many others. Seriously though it does look great and I wish them the best
This looks like a game they genuinely wanted to make. But the best part? No Man's Sky still has life as well. Sean did the "one thing, different thing, is it too much to ask for both" meme, and they darn well EARNED our trust. Time to trust them.
Eh I'm still not pre-ordering or buying till it drops and I see gameplay reviews sorry but they did not earn anything from me I paid for a game that was not delivered until years after I didn't care anymore won't be making the same mistake this time
Let's be real, NMS is one of the best supported games in history. From features and modes, to community events, accessibility options and platforms. They even had a fricken ARG!! Also, entirely free for 7+ years. These guys honestly rock! Nobody should doubt the beast that is Hello Games and their new titles! They are so humble, too.
Finally, someone else who got into fantasy through the Magician series. I keep trying to tell younger folks about this and they all ask if it's like Harry Potter. "No, kiddo, it's as unlike Harry Potter as you can get."
It got me into reading as well! I needed more! I recently revisited it on audio book. It wasn't as big as I remember it in my imagination but still a great way to relive my first experience in the fantasy genre.
I’m hoping that Light No Fire will have the same difficulty settings as NMS. As a gamer with limited use of my hands NMS is one of very few games that I can play without severe difficulty. The game looks great, it will be interesting to see what comes next
@@anaguma90 Your comment got me searching and the only quote I could find was from the Cathoiic Bible... "Call on the name of your god but light no fire.' 1 Kings 18 25 Other bible versions present the wording differently.
Hello Games have learned an incredible amount about how to get this very right. I bought NMS at launch, I will definitely be making the same mistake again.
They've got no business Gods - like Sony - to appease this time. Now they are a self made studio, independent of nasty corporate interests, so it should be good.
Would be really cool if this game's planet was stated to be either in the Euclid Galaxy or in a nearby satellite galaxy of Euclid, thereby placing the two games within the same shared universe.
I love the bunny people. And the giant hummingbirds you can tame and ride. The elk-like mounts too. This looks so cute, cool, and epic at the same time. I imagine going into a cave in one of the gargantuan mountains and witnessing some Moria type stuff. I've grown a huge liking towards Hellogames. They remind me of the small teams of people that would make games in the 80s and 90s. Just pure passion for the craft. Loads of imagination and innovation. So, so different from other modern game developers who are politically charged and/or only thinking about $$$ rather than the game itself.
I bet it comes to console. HG has put NMS on every platform they reasonably could. Since they don't do micro transactions selling copies of the game is the way they make money.
I was not expecting this reveal. So excited. It looks like a bigger Valheim with more variety and all the things Hello Games have learned the past 7 years working on No Man's Sky. What are the chances it may come out next year?
@SurvivalBobGaming Thanks my friend. About to go tangle with the Social Security Administration, so we'll see. Hope you, and your family, are doing well
Well, I’m excited based solely on the track record of the developer. I love NMS and the dedication they showed it helps me believe in any project they’re a part of.
My view of the game title is the story of Prometheus. Prometheus is best known for defying the Olympian gods by stealing fire from them and giving it to humanity in the form of technology, knowledge, and more generally, civilization. In some versions of the myth, he is also credited with the creation of humanity from clay.
if they can actually create a meaningful and rewarding multiplayer experience, with depth and variety... they could create something really great I think. this trailer looks really good, I only hope that they've studied all of the past successes to understand what really makes multiplayer games great, the sense of shared progression, the sense of community and interaction..
I will buy this game no matter what , just as a huge thank you to the developers for the continuous work they are doing on the masterpiece called No Man's Sky !
This is how I read what the limited information we get is. (A Multiplayer Earth) Its clear that this is an MMO-RPG with a heavy lean on survival elements. If its a single planet that everybody plays together on, then I do not see how it can be anything other then an MMO. (A Procedural Earth) We know it is at least the size of the real earth (probably larger), and from how its described the entire thing has content covering it. (A Fantasy Earth) if we are not the "Hero" there is obviously no set MSQ (main story quest,) so side quests only. (Not saying there is no overarching quest line but I do not believe every player will have the same one, nor will it be a save the world one. More like learn the mystery of the planet. (An Unexplored Earth) if there is indeed no MSQ there is no need for us to need to meet static NPCs and static quests. If they want everyone to have the same experience new or old "player/character" then we would need to spawn at a (maybe semi)random point on the planet. Otherwise the single starting space(s) would quickly turn into cities. While making an area unbuildable could be done they did NOT do that in NMS. We know we can sail on boats, we do see three (barely) in the trailer, though all three are rafts (I am not counting the sunken ship at the start) and could (and likely are) just be place holders. Kinda sounds like it will land some where in the middle of the venn diagram between Medieval Engineers, No Man's Sky, and (Random MMORPG).
Another point is that in NMS you can build underwater bases, so maybe it is possible that at least there's some sort of underwater folks living underwater, like Atlanteans or something...
I think its important to note that on Steam the game is listed as single player with online co-op. I suspect that the multiplayer will be very similar to the way No Man's Sky multiplayer works with a mostly single player experience allowing for the creation of co-op groups and shared instances with others up to a player limit as long as multiplayer is enabled in your settings. Base building will probably be the similar as well where you claim and area and upload it to the server so it then persists into others worlds as long as they have multiplayer enabled. If I recall correctly they kind of tested the one planet concept in one of the NMS expeditions and forced everyone to create a base on one planet. Though I could be completely wrong but I don't see why they would change it much when they have proven it to work in NMS.
The title Light No Fire sounds like a warning. I am assuming they want people to explore and move. Maybe if you settle too long something comes for you. It could also just be a poetic expression of an adventurous spirit, always wanting to be on the move and finding new things.
I swear if they create a way of doing a full procedural planet, and then in five years, hit a button that applies that tech to the NMS tech and suddenly have an entire universe of living planets like this.....Gah, the possibilities. At any rate, I'm super excited to see what they can do with just one planet first.
It would so fun for us NMS travelers if hello games put some fun NMS Easter eggs on the planet. Like in raiders of the lost ark where you find an atlas carving in a cave. Or a gek (boo) pic underwater.
Its giving me mini universe vibes. Even the logo screen..holding a semi similar no mans sky ball that contains our supposed new world thats earth like. Even the "boss" looking guy looks no mans sky esk. Heavily suggesting some lore will take us to a point where our higher being created our planet after mastering time, matter and travel. It wouldn't be hard to see lore leaking into the concept of us as a NMS character creating a mini world for some reason or on accident.
I suspect that the 'light no fire' title may suggest a small tie in to 'The Last Campfire', but I'm not seeing much other overlap. I'm not surprised that the look is reminiscent of NMS, as that is likely where all the devs have been doubling on. As someone who currently plays solo, I'm not really enthused about the single planet for all players, but that' s me. If it works for others, then it works I think. At a guess, the game may have a hardware requirement of 'capable of providing VR' even if VR isn't available on the platform. I think that would allow all of the consoles other than Switch, though it might allow for whatever Nintendo has coming up. They may require better VR capability than the PS4 has, which might push for the latest gen consoles. But that's pure speculation. I think that the surface of water at the shore still needs work. I'd kind of like to see water at large body shorelines being affected by events that may even be over the horizon, say major storms, landslides, etc. And I'd really like to see weather patterns that are based on something more than either 'let's randomly throw a storm on this player' or 'let's have a global storm for the next 15 min of real time'
The fact that Minecraft goes and gets updates despite being so old should inspire hello games to continue developing for no man’s sky, optimizing and etc
There is zero reason to think they would skip console, if it had PC listed as a platform you would have a point. Many games don't list platform or release date, if anything this game is probably 1 -2 years out.
TBC = To be confirmed. I would imagine their intent is multi-platform across as many platforms as they can, but they can't officially state any platform until they confirm that what they want to do is going to be allowed. Sony, for example, is notorious for not liking cross-platform multiplayer. There's also the possibility of future consoles that for obvious reasons they can't even mention (eg - Nintendo typically releases a new console every ~5 years, and it's been nearly 7 since the Switch was released). I think Sean learned his lesson from NMS and I expect he'll show more than he tells this time around. After all, they've been pretty hush-hush on any details about any NMS patches prior to their release. Plus, I'm not sure he really needs to promise anything, since anyone who's played much NMS can tell you, the game at launch isn't going to be the same game five years after launch.
In No Man's Sky you can tame beasts, some you can use as mounts, and some of this beasts can fly, so i'm not suprised here, i even remember thinking to myself at some point that i wish to find a dragon to tame.
Hopefully this is an 3d open world terraria with sky biomes/races to underground/dwarven and hellish demon biomes all with there own lore to discover. Would be heavenly to explore after the dissapointing starfield and endless wait for TESVI
Looks incredible, but a PC release only would be a massive mistake realistically. Unless the consoles get it like a month later which would be fine. At the very least next gen consoles.
at first there was , i mean at first i tried to buffer every posture so new players and structures always rise , like the satelittes are so bad coorddinated like someone was trasmit ufo tv like images were ppl are weird . Like hdd has to do with it why not buffer , then wathever happened lol
The Title likely indicates that if you disturb nature, nature will push back. Lighting a Fire would in essence attract unwanted attention. My worry is that like NMS progression will be terrible. The fact that flying was so heavily shown in the trailer makes me think that the distances of such a large world would be meaningless. What I would really love to see is that traveling would mostly be on the ground with horses, ships etc, but the flying, which the animations look terrible, will be the dominant, and rapidly achievable, method of travel. Making it easy to move fast around the planet makes the planet much smaller and meaningless, I would rather a much smaller play area, than a massive play area that was meaningless.
Just have to say... glad I'm not the only one getting the 'Meet Pretty Locals' ad right at the front... it's like Jesus RUclips could you BE any more stereotypical! Also, insta-buy... so I can meet pretty locals in game.
Well techinically it is a fantasy world. and it has crafting .. but i see more the DNA of NMS all over here, so i don't get so much this vibe you mentioned, never played Ark, and i played Skyrim so long ago that i barely remember, but again KNOWING Hello games i can tell you this, when they say Earth planet, they are literally saying a SPHERE planet, not just a giant tile like this other open worlds does, all you need to do is see how the planets are in NMS, to see the the are gigantic all by themselves, in fact if you never played NMS, i encourage too do soo. because you will understand that Hello games is not even be pretentious here, they genuinely are capable of deliver what they promised here, because of their 7 years of improving NMS.
I don't know man. HG did provide free updates, but they also screwed alot of long time players. It started on ps4 console, they broke our work what 3 or 4 times? When they changed the modes, it devalued the work of alot of players put in. When introducing crossplay it was cool at 1st as you got to play with pc friends. Now with mods and bots, it doesn't matter if you turn crossplay off. Bases are being stolen and put into blender as assets and slightly modified and then placed somewhere else with no credit to the original artists. They posted it like they are the original builder. Peoples posts on social platforms are being used without their knowledge as a back door advertising by bot makers that make bots that infiltrate the game and find things or with mods created and then sold. Very shady. HG knows about this as they have been zendesked many times about it. I don't care how others play there game, but pc mods should not be able to infiltrate consoles like this. The bird mod is cool, doesn't affect players negatively. HG didn't do a good job of protecting players work. I spent weeks building an S rotation x class for the higher stats only to be outflowned by a pc player in a B class who took minutes to type in stat numbers and have all slots supercharged. Console players can not do that nor can they have more than 4 supercharged slots. Coming from a day 1 with over 13,000 hrs of nms game play. I've seen the good and bad of nms.
Hi, an AI told me the you use light to defeat the darkness, would that explain the title? Apparently you switch between you being the light or the darkness. You are the light when it is dark and you are the dark when it is light. Is this AI talking crap? I see nothing in the trailer to suggest this.

I wonder how the guy in the trailer had a torch without lighting a fire.
was thinking the same thing...he must be a bad guy for breaking the rules! lol
at first there was , i mean at first i tried to buffer every posture so new players and structures always rise , like the satelittes are so bad coorddinated like someone was trasmit ufo tv like images were ppl are weird .
So a Skyrim type with NMS engine? Looks great!
Just have to say... glad I'm not the only one getting the 'Meet Pretty Locals' ad right at the front... it's like Jesus RUclips could you BE any more stereotypical! Also, insta-buy... so I can meet pretty locals in game.
Am I the only one who had some Ark: Survival and Skyrim vibes from the trailer?
This game needs a class system where we can play as magic users, or else that'll greatly hurt the overall experience.
Wow mind is blown
initial thoughts on video NMS on single planet
My hope is they go deep this time instead of wide.
TBC is to be for Christmas😂
I wish! lol
Hopefully this game has good combat because nms's combat is ridiculously lackluster.
VR mode please !!!
This looks like it's in Bob's wheelhouse.
Absolutely! I'm all in on this one!
Hope console doesn’t get left behind with this 😢
