I have a Triumph America, and as much as I love my bike I've REALLY been wanting to move up to a Thunderbird for more comfort on long trips. And now thanks to your review I want one even more. Bullocks. Seriously though, great review, very down to earth and factual.
Well produced review. Very clear and informative. It is obvious the tester is quite tall. It may help to have the tester's exact height to work out how the bike will fit other riders. Look forward to more reviews.
The Mutts nutz, nicest bike ive ever ridden. Great build, motor, gearbox, finish, comfort, so understressed, reliable. A true bargain, so so underated. It will be a great future classic. So good for Scotland or even better in USA, Australia, wish they were as cheap secondhand here in UK as in USA. Like Rocket 3, such an understressed, over engineered, simple great machine. The 1700 storm is even better. Secondhand 2010 rocket 3s are £5K secondhanvd here in the UK and fit dark side tyres from a car and they last 15000 miles! 😂
getting readyb to trade my Honda CBR1000RR on a storm, I'm 45 and it's about time I give up the supersport class to a quality machine like Triumph. Thankyou for the review. I was thinking about a Harley but there is just to many manufactures defect with Harley to chance it. Triumph has been road proven over the years
One clarification on this... you don't need to look to see if you have switched off the turn indicators as they are self canceling and work very well. However, in general I'd agree that with most full face helmets you do have to take your eyes off the road to see the cluster.
What kind of lowers are those? I just bought a '10 T-Bird and I've got just a little buffeting. I've found out on other bikes that lowers help with that.
Enjoyed your review of this motorcycle. Though I think your opening comment about 800 cc. Was a little misguided? The figure arrived at, is dependent on both bore and stroke. Long stroke x small bore would equal a larger bore x smaller stroke. This motorcycle looks good and sounds better. Not really my type either. But I am looking for a cycle, to mount a sidecar on. Most every reviewer, has complained about placement of instruments. Why should any rider have to have an iPhone, when paying for an expensive cycle?
Agree big bummer where the speedo is located. I just take my iPhone and use a speedo app and see my speed. You can set it so you have a heads up display. Speedo is about 10% under with the 200mm tire. I wear a full face Shoei and yes I can't see it with out looking down. and this cluster sucks. If your into a bike for riding first this one is it over any other Cruiser.

The heel toe shifter is 2 part and you can take off the rear heel part.
I was going for a HD Street Bob or Sportster Custom but this video let's me overthink my decision..

Thank you everyone for your comments. Be on the lookout for our video review of the Triumph Bonneville T100 that we're finishing up.
About to buy one of these. Like your reviewing style. Cheers.
