I randomly checked out the Rav website after some years. Lo and behold a brand new drum, and wow what a beauty. Even before hearing what it sounds like I kinda knew I had to have one. The sound pleasantly surprised me even more than the looks did. Seems like an overall great addition to the Rav family. I ordered one a couple days ago and I can't wait!! 😁 It'll be my second drum, after my E low Pygmy which I own close to 4 years now. The virtual player really is such a helpful tool, I spend days trying out all the available scales. They all sound great, the hard part was figuring out which one resonated most with me personally. Eventually I settled on the Universal scale and I'm very confident I made the right decision 😌 I really enjoy slow and meditative playing by myself. I always loved the idea of taking my Vast to the park at night during an even walk or something, and even though it came with the bag, it always seemed too much of a hassle and I never tried it. However I'm most definately taking my Moon to the park sometime :)
A few days ago I got my first RAV Moon, in D Integral. I love it, and I would like to get a second one in a different scale. I do not plan to play the two together, but only separately. I just want a second one that has a different musical flavor. Do you have a suggestion? Maybe D major? Or other options? BTW I am a beginner. Thanks!
Thank you for sharing! The Hijaz is definitely the one that resonates most with me, but… I have a nitrated D Hijaz handpan. Not with so much sustain as the Moon, but two of the same scales is probably not the wisest thing to do 🤔 What do you think?
Hello i would like to know if the moon rav D universal can match with my rav vast E low pygmy ? What do you think about ? Thanks in advance. And yours vidéo is a like a bible for me . Its a great and magical help for me ✨🙏✨🎯
I can speak to this as I own an Onoleo and Arabian Night. The Hijaz pairs great with both particularly the Arabian Night as it’s just a modified Hijaz scale anyway. Sounds great with my indigo generation Onoleo too though
I know I’m probably in the minority here but I actually prefer the D Major to the Ariumi (I still think Ariumi is fantastic though) . The Major just fits so well with the overall “voice” of the Moon.
Nice looking drums and some unusual scales. However, they're all a little too high in register. They could do with being dropped down a whole tone into C, or maybe three semitones into B.
These are actually the same register and octave as the D celtic, so already represented in the larger lineup! The Lowest possible for this size is a D center, as there is only so much space available in a 15" instrument. That said, in person, you would love these!
I guess they will release a lower tuned Moon somewhere in the future, in bigger size. I love this many D-tunings because as a tabla-player I know that D just fits to almost every music I'm listening and the next ist A, but in between or lower seems rather exotic. I did some home-recordings with my Moon D Celtic, not yet released ony my channel, and it's just magic because it can lay a carpet of spheric sounds like a synth or sitar can do. Now I want a Vast in D Celtic minor that corresponds better than my A Integral and G Pygmy, but the Vast can't do the trick and certainly no handpan without effects.
@@Leynad778i'm also a tabla player, i'have dayan in D. you thing it's better a rav vast or rav moon for play with tabla. i think buy a rav moon in D celtic. if you have a recommandations. thanks
@@fabienbernet4233 Sorry, I've missed your question and just was reading it by chance. Did you buy the Moon Celtic and happy with it? I made a video with Vast, Moon and D-tabla a few days ago, so check it out if you are still undecided (or not). They are both great with tabla, so I combine them. For playing the Moon is more convenient to me because I don't play handpan and the tongues are closer together, so don't need so much movement, but the Celtic has only a few chord-possibilities. Seems the powdercoated older models of the Vast, that I got 2nd hand, might be a bit more percussive and louder than the newest ones and I got them for less than half the price of a new one, but I was lucky as well. I also got a 'Tonedrum' last week which I love because of it's Vast-like sound even it's smaller than a Moon with 11 tongues. The tonal quality is excellent, overtones can be easily triggered by playing Bayan-technique with finger-nails and sounds more close to an acoustic guitar. The Tonedrum always starts with C (unlike the very similar YW Pulsar Mini by the same maker), so my D-tabla doesn't fit, but my G- and E-tabla seems to sound good enough and working on a new video with multitrack-recording.

Wonderful video demo for these different tunings. Thank you so very much. Super helpful
@@mothersgauri4137 so glad to help my friend!
Ariumi is fantastic, would be a nice expansion for my (solo playing) collection!
Thanks for the lineup, very helpful, as always! ❤

The Hijaz is on my wishlist.
Hijaz is just perfect

The new Rav Moons have such beautiful bloom & tone. I can't wait to hear all the new music artists will be creating with them. Thanks for the Demo!

Look at the Hijaz if you’re into that middle eastern flair it’s actually a really versatile scale. Or D Major which is probably my favorite Moon

What did you use to get the plastic residue that’s left after the plastic wrapping is taken off?
@@DjImadiaz that’s the hydrophobic coating, and/or the oil for shipping it. Gently wipe it with a microfiber cloth and you are fine!
