I have been pet decking aroma, and plants at large since getting back into the game around 2017-2018. Something about the art, playstyle and variations of the deck have always been fun to test, and while I won't lie and say it's a sleeper deck or it's secretly rogue, I will say there are some really interesting things that you can do with aromas depending on the kind of nonengine you use
credit where it's due, quite a few others have labbed the deck with the new support, Moelancholy on youtube has a few combos guides and deckbuilding discussions for example
He also said "consistently" People have tops here and there but she went to worlds day 2 which is way more consistent wins than anyone else on plant innit
@@hannahtcg1080 Jess helped innovate the deck Marcus placed with. She then won the same WCQ the next year and placed for the World Championship in Top8 the same Year. I'd say that's more notable than who placed first, alongside the fact that Jess has represented the deck three more times than Marcus from the listings I've been giving a look over.
I think both Rikka and Aroma are cool archetypes, but I wish they could stand on their own, rather than always ending up as part of a giant plant pile. I feel like the knowledge they'll all be mixed together holds back what they're willing to give each archetype.
I don't mind it too much as they do work well with each and im a sucker for their artworks. The idea of the two archetypes coming together would make for some cool fanart. But i see your point. Sometimes it's nice to be able to just play an Archetype pure. With Aroma's new support they definitely have more of a chance. I think eventually both of them will be able to stand on their own. They just need a bit more. But until then i see it as the two decks supporting each other.
You can run a pure aroma deck but its a lot more fragile than running the whole plant pile. If you just want to have some fun you can do it and if you want run it as pure as it can get but remain somewhat competitive you can run just the sunseed engine to turbo 2 jasmines and end in the synchro, the fusion, marjoram and the rosemary link turn 1. I personally dont mind rikkas since they are also a cute girls archetype but i get where you are coming from, i would rather play one archetype than play plant engine dot deck.
It’s the opposite actually, the combination with other decks gives them much more of a ceiling than before. Sunseed can climb through links easily, but struggle to put up a strong board presence or break boards, which is fixed by Rikka, Rikka has strong board breaking, grind game, and varied removal, but struggles with reaching its ceiling consistently, which is fixed by Sunseed and Aroma, and Aroma creates a good board, but doesn’t have the varied points of interaction you would have with the mix. The cards all play nice with each other and let each other reach their full potential. All the cards can reach their ceilings because the other plants support them. And I feel this knowledge lets them print cards that work well on this system rather than their own archetypes. After all, why shouldn’t the plants work together? It’s a garden after all

I can't believe how well the 60 card pile managed to look. More and more interested in building Rikka in MD. Good thing I have 3 Lily Borea and 3 Lonefire Blossom.
it was fun, played rikka few months ago (before snake eyes) and i enjoyed it, dropped the deck though because for the more harder comboes i needed to look up guides and i just wasnt able to remember combos:D
I like Rikka but really advise against it in Master Duel simply because they have virtually no way to get quick disruption under Maxx C. Maxx C is such a toxic and polarizing card that maining a deck that inherently loses to it is just insanely frustrating.
I wonder how many decks like plants there are out there that are this good but just so unreasonably hard to pilot consistently that they'll never have meta share. We're lucky we have Jess.
So there's a fan-made format called One Attribute, One Type which is basically what it says. They obviously have a Heart of the Underdog style additional banlist, but anyway, Dark Plants are hilariously good there because of the new Aromas. Obviously Dark Winged Beasts are the best, but Dark Plants are pretty damn good and Light Spellcaster surprisingly is also good. I just enjoy seeing Aromas be good.
Holy....This is actually amazing. The ability to play through nearly everything is next level, though I can see that it takes a good pilot. Time to get my fiance to pick this deck back up before Jasmine gets limited (rightly so tbh)

@@nopeno-s5r because it's not a hard once per and it's an extra deck monster so you always have access to multiple copies. Just because a card isn't currently seeing play at the top tables doesn't mean it's not poorly designed.
@@imnotacat5299 Raidraptor force strix is an extra deck monster that you can access multiple copies of and has a soft once per turn search. I suppose force strix is badly designed too. Except nobody wants force strix limited, so why would jasmine get limited?
@@nopeno-s5r because you can't recycle it from the grave multiple times to keep getting the same effect, and it only counts as 1 for a link; where as you can use 2 Jasmine to get a double search, go inro Bengh, and then use those same 2 Jasmine to bring back Bengh from GY. And Force Strix has to search a Level 4 Dark WB, way more specific than literally any Plant monster. And Force Strix can't chain block another Force Strix. And Force Strix has 1 effect while Jasmine has 3. A Link 2 monster is substantially different from an XYZ because of how link climbing works, but also Force Strix is not even close to being able to do what Jasmine does.
Yes, this is one of the most difficult decks to play in the game The sheer number of different combo lines to play optimally has to be in the thousands (including all possible variations of drawing different cards leading to a different combo to play through more handtraps or end on a better board), which makes the deck humanly impossible to master
I just ordered a whole package of Aroma cards two days ago because i bought some packs of PHNI and didnt know that Aroma support is in there xD So i got rlly nostalgic because I loved that archetype in Duel Links back then
@@nopeno-s5r depends on the setup, but negating the hard opt summon effect and forcing them to tribute a monster as cost for no value is still often the biggest chokepoint. If you know they have gas there’s an argument otherwise (especially now that dryas is at 1), but it’s still usually the safest chokepoint.
An iteration of this deck has been terrorizing my locals ever since aromas came out, and initial rikkavalons ever since princess and konkon came out. With the current build I can only pray to draw droll or imperm on dryas and hope its enough that they don't pseudo ftk me
Umm you know, sunavalon is still unhit in MD, so you can either play sunavalon therion or sunavalon rikka at full combo without any banlist limitations unlike the tcg format
we really just reaching the point where every deck is payed as 60 cards. at one point only dragons had enough good cards that you couldn't fit them into 40. like we're not even trying to mill cards, it probably wouldn't even be good, we simply have to many cards that are worth playing

I WAS planning on burning all my Plant cards in master duel but knew there were new cards, I just waited for the TMT and Jess vids so that I can see what the new combos were

it's not just one woman, the whole testing group have had success with rikka plant for a while and others also had sporadic tops with it.
