Award-winning blues and Americana vocalist Shemekia Copeland premieres her timely new song, “Uncivil War,” on Friday, June 19. It is a courageous statement pleading for unity in a time of disunion, and is unlike anything Copeland has previously recorded. “Uncivil War” takes no sides and speaks to every person's desire to be safe and free. Featuring iconic mandolin wizard Sam Bush, dobro master Jerry Douglas and background vocals from popular alternative band, The Orphan Brigade, the song is simultaneously comforting and challenging, as Copeland sings, "Same old wounds we've opened before / Nobody wins an uncivil war." Shemekia delivers the song with passion and insight about the chaos and uncertainty in the world while still finding light in the darkness and hope for the future.
According to Copeland, "It's not just a song. I’m trying to put the 'united' back in the United States. Like many people, I miss the days when we treated each other better. For me, this country’s all about people with differences coming together to be part of something we all love. That’s what really makes America beautiful.”

I thought of Shemekia and this song when President Biden said in his inaugural address "We must end this uncivil war that pits red against blue, rural versus urban, conservative versus liberal." Artists like Shemekia Copeland will help heal the country, as her song calls for a reunification of the USA.
Love Shemekia Copeland
Absolutely love this! Why isn’t this playing everywhere! Thanks to SiriusXM and BBKing’s Blues station I heard it.
It was just released
I just heard this on my local blues station awesome 👏

Same here
I just heard this song on SiriusXM BB King's Bluesville channel about half hour ago. I wasn't sure if it was a new song or from a few years ago. I get choked up and tear up listening to this song. I got home and immediately searched for song on RUclips.
This song should be our new National Anthem! Thank you Shameika and everyone involved in making this recording.
I am a guitar player and play some blues harp. I was in elementary school during the 1960s Civil Rights era, living in segregated metro Detroit. Music was an important force for both protest and also bringing the races together (i.e. Motown). The #BLM movement needs music that can reach all races and generations. This song is amazingly powerful and needs to be spread far and wide. Music can be a healing power.
♥️♥️♥️🎸🎸🎸🎵🎵🎵
I 💯% agree with all you wrote. I just heard this song on my blues station and started crying. I haven't had a song really impact me like this in such a long long time. It needs to be played on regular stations, like that will ever happen, :(

Kindest thoughts from France 🇫🇷...We are ONE 💖🥰
All One ~ONE LOVE and Shemekia's spot on!
This song is so true why we all get along
A powerful song. It's message is what I hope for our future. I'm conservative, and I hope people of all political persuasions can one day come together and get along. Sounds like a simple dream, but look at the world.
Thank you Shemekia for writing this song. It is beautiful, touching, and speaks to the ❤️. It is time for love to conquer hate.
She didn't write it, I'm afraid; her producer did.
I am obsessed with this song since I first heard it on BB King's Bluesville XM station this summer...Shemekia's voice is amazing and the message is timeless 💕
Our country needs this song right now! Good job Shamekia Copeland! What a great voice to sing a song of joining together.

Creator wants all his children to be better at loving one another! Thank you so much for this song! Uncivil War brought tears to my eyes, but made me hopeful that the spirit of goodness that we were born with will shine brightly now. My hope is that Evil will not be tolerated nor ignored! Love to all!
Was listening to Outskirts Of Love two days ago thinking that if anyone could come up with a song of resolution and hope it would be Shemekia. I guess she must have been listening!! Yes, it brought a tear to me eye as well.

It’s just the honest to goodness views of the majority. Beautiful !
we will see in 2 days. I will pick the side that backs the police and doesn't condone daily riots by terror groups.
