Awesome video man! The only small thing I would have added because I’m just fixated on small details lol is that Nighteye tells everyone Deku is going to die but when he remembers how defiant Deku was and how he would “smash that future” he asks to see for himself. He’s choosing to fight a bit longer and hope for Deku to succeed, to the point that when he sees Deku later, he says “you made MY wish a reality” implying that Nighteye finally chose to fully commit to believing the future could be changed instead of always doubting like he used to as he explains later, which was what sealed the future. And the most interesting part is that Nighteye never tells Deku that the future is going to be one where Deku dies, sure Deku contextualizes the fight as fighting fate but he doesn’t actually know he’s doing so. So I wonder if Nighteye truly was the one who changed the future since he was the one who, as he shows, chose to believe it could change. It would fit really well with his theory that everyone believing in Izuku, believing in a better future, allowed him to do it, but if the Schrödinger’s cat comparison is still in effect, then Nighteye is the one who truly defied his power.
For how short his time in the series was, Nighteye’s passing really did sting for me. For someone who was acted so pessimistic, to end feeling hopeful for the future… It really hit home for me.
An interesting observation is that in the first fight with Deku, while nighteye correctly predicts the outcome of the fight, he completely misunderstands *why* izuku is on the ground defeated. Not because of Nighteye, but because of the merchandise. So it was a strong hint that the problem lay with Nighteye all along: he couldn't change the future because he could not really properly interpret what he saw, and he likely mistook certain signs as the inevitability of fate.
I personally think that Nighteye didn't see Mirio's future, he just decided that he would believe that Mirio would be fine and would be an amazing hero. Learning that belief is what solidifies the future on his death bed and deciding to put that into action for a future he wanted to come to pass. Great video as always!
In hindsight he most likely didn’t right? He died on the same day as the raid’s conclusion which means he couldn’t see the future anymore. Unless he reached the hospital and died in less than an hour
@@icantbelieveyoudonethis4059 yeah, guess I didn't make it clear but I thought more that he tried to use his quirk, realized it wouldn't work, and then decided not to try and desperately activate it. Just believe what he wanted to believe
@@RainbowDj7 oh ok but I wasn’t disagreeing with you. I was just saying that yeah he most likely couldn’t use his quirk then as he’d already used it against Overhaul so you’re likely right
I like this channel because it makes me see details I didn't initially see. you usually notice these details more in manga, since you look at still images and dialogues for the time you want, but back in overhaul act I was still anime only. I didn't think a lot of his death initially although I more or less understood his motivations, but now I see it very differently.
Great video. Honestly the possibility of the future being changeable is always been what has made me unwilling to believe all might will die in the future nighteye saw.
I will say that it is possible that Nighteye when he sees the future does set it in stone but tje future he saw for Deku did not involve Eri saving his life. Eri has the ability to rewind time. It is basically what happened in the fight between giorno vs diavolo fight. Diavolo’s epitaph is like Nighteye’s foresight. It can see into the future and the future is unchanged But Deku and Eri are like Giorno and golden experience requiem. Eri prevents Deku from meeting his demise by rewinding him so that he can fight to defeat Overhaul. He was never able to die by Overhaul’s hands because the future Nighteye saw did not factor in Deku using 100% of OFA.

I think this video changed my mind. I used to subscribe to the "The future Nighteye saw changed because it couldn't take Eri's quirk into account" theory. But I like this better, the idea that the future Nighteye saw could always been changed but he never got to see it happen. It gives a nice new meaning to his death, dying peacefully finally knowing that the fear he had for so long was unfounded.
I know it sounds insane but would you consider making a video about Cutie Marks from mlp as a power system? This video made me realize that quirks and cutie marks have a lot of things in common and raise a lot of questions the show addresses really well in my opinion.
The reason I don't like this explanation (even though it's canon) is because there was a time when Nighteye did believe it was changeable. He worked to change it - only to fail time and time again - leading him to adopt this defeatist outlook. So if it was always changeable, why haven't Nighteye's previous efforts succeeded? What is so different about the Deku incident?
The way that I see it is that Nighteye sees the future accurately, but he doesn't always see the full picture. His slide-show depicted Deku being obscured in an explosion of blood, but he couldn't tell that more happened than what he saw. For example, Deku's future showed him dying because Deku technically sustains a litany of lethal injuries during the Overhaul fight; Nighteye just couldn't have predicted Eri having a quirk that would undo those injuries.
Pigeon Hero is a really pathetic guy slave of the corrupt hero system and killed the guy working as an assasin because his moral is convenintly mold however his bosses want it to be. He's just this sheep completely bought to the system and Endeavor's b1tch aswell
I don't know where to say this, but how does Eri's quirk rewind the brain or not? Like, Deku didn't forget what he was doing when he was being constantly rewinded, but what if Eric rewinds somebody into a child? Do they remember everything that happened to them as an adult? Do they have a child brain or not? HOW DOES ERI'S QUIRK WORK?
How does he use foresight to dodge attacks if it's already determined. If he was going to get hit anyway, looking into the future would only insure that right? Deku's fight with him never made sense to me. Can you explain it?
My view of the future is more theological and unique, so if you're not a Christian, plz bear with me here, because I'm going somewhere with this. In Christianity, we have two conflicting theologies on the future. Arminianism and Calvinism. Arminianism being the belief of free will, while Calvinism is the Biblical equivalent of Determinism. Without diving into a Bible study, I believe that both theologies are correct. Now what do I mean by that? I believe that the future is comprised of multiple predestined timelines that choose based on the paths we choose and the decisions we make in life. Like an RPG, but you only get one playthrough. Thoughts?
I don't think that's the correct interpretation of "Schrödinger's cat", that's the post-modern interpretation. In physics - and philosophy - a thing can't both be and not be in the same matter and aspect at the same time. "Schrödinger's cat" state is undetermined, and not both alive and dead until you look into it. Btw, there's no escape to determinism if one is completely materialistic. The only thing that would give place to free will is something beyond matter, say, a spirit or soul.
Schrodinger thinks he was intelligent coming up with that concept. He didn’t list things in his experiment that don’t rely on visual interaction to find out if the cat is alive or dead. Shake the box, if it reacts, it’s alive...one possibility verified. Listen for it breathing is another form of that auditory verification. Just looking at the car in the box it could be sleeping without the viewer being able to tell if it’s breathing so even the visual cue might not be enough and touch would need to be used. The explanation for his concept needs to be expanded to read more like “until something is interacted with there can be no definitive results.” Even that is simple but it takes the act of interacting in some way with another thing to verify it’s state. Not just visually but everyone keeps locking in on that part as if seeing is the only way to believe.
I absolutely loathed this guy Take Grant Generic, promise him a full expenses extravaganca day for him and his family in another country Look into his next 24 hours, put some guys on him and the world is the dudes oyster he's just not permitted withing 3000 miles of whatever country he saw for him Reason why I hate Endgame, if you haven't though it through, don't play with time
