Judge Merchan should go ahead and sentence Trump for his 10 contempt of court charges.
"The new mid-September sentencing date will make it VERY hard for Trump to then be able to appeal to [Supreme Court] before the election," Weissmann wrote. "As he will have to appeal within NY state courts first."
In 12 months from now Merchan will be in Canada or in prison.

I just love you guys! when the supreme court handed down that ruling on the immunity case, I howled, I cried, I gnashed my teeth and put ashes in my hair and wore sack cloth.... mentally of course. called my dad, who's 85 and the sharpest person on the planet. he listened and then said, "Shelley I think you're overreacting." I then wailed and cried some more about why I wasn't overreacting..... he calmly listened. I went to bed for the rest of the day. got up yesterday and decided I was going to go back to bed again. grieving. today I decided I could handle it and this is the first thing I've watched. glad I did. I feel better. I know it's not your job to make people feel better. we need the truth so we can take action, but I'm not going to do like my sister, turning off the news and taking herself out of all of it. she said that's the only way she can stay sane. As for the hush money case , how can the Supreme Court reverse the jury’s determination that Trump was guilty when the Supreme Court decision just came down on Monday ???? Wouldn’t that Supreme Court decision be effective the date that the decision was released to the public ??? How can they impose this bs standard between official acts and non officials acts when this new law wasn’t even known by the prosecutors at the time the case was brought ??? If the prosecutors were aware of this new SC decision at the time they went to trial , perhaps they could have presented this case differently and the judge would have been able to instruct the jury differently . How can a judge instruct the jury when the law they now want to impose wasn’t even in existence at the time ?? Shouldn’t there be some kind of grandfather clause applicable here . I am an attorney and this makes no sense to me . Does anyone else agree with me ?
