About us,
We are a family from the North-East of England following our dream to restore a beautiful abandoned french Château. We discovered the heart stopping Château De Lalacelle in summer of 2020, this beautiful architectural monument Is set in the countryside of North-West France.
The moment we visited the Château we all fell in love, from the beautiful sweeping landscape and forests, to its stunning untouched interiors and magnificent spiral staircase in the turret.
Unfortunately Château De Lalacelle has been abandoned for a number of decades so will need a lot of restoration and DIY.
Please subscribe and follow our families journey, with the up’s and down’s in moving from the UK and Escape to rural France to restore this beautiful building to its former glory.

I will never comment on what you haven’t done. Good grief - your to do list is longer than anything I can imagine. It’s your in progress list and the completed jobs that deserve comments. Everything you all do is spectacular, so watching the process is just pure pleasure.
Totally agree, They request comments not criticism or tell us what to do. Very generous sharing their lives and projects with us. Love It!
My personal feelings: I am trying to understand why people comment on when this or that will get done. Really? As if you don't know your own home? Do they think you will miss something? It will get done when you all have the time to get to it. You owe us no explanation; not even your patron members have a right to question why you still need to get to a project. It's your business when and how you prioritize the vast amount of work you have on your to-do list. You spend more time explaining yourselves and why you've not gotten to a project or complete something than any RUclipsr I've watched. Your willingness to video your progress and post it for our entertainment is much appreciated. I get so much joy out of your excitement! Thank you again for letting us join you on this renovation journey!
It boggles my mind that some poeple sit at home, watching RUclips videos of other people working their tushes off, and have the audacity to criticize what hasn't yet been done. Especially when some of those things have obvious reasons for being postponed! Sheesh. And you are so polite in addressing their outrageous comments. Well done, Terry.
Totally agree
The stone is beautiful. I love the way Ash gets so excited. Be careful up there Terry. You are a brave soul!
Thanks Joyce 🥰
Yeah love Ashes excitement ever time ❤😂😊
You, Terry, are one very brave soul being up so high 😮. Love, love, love your channel 😊😊😊.
Thanks so much 🥰
Good job to all of you guys. Amazing work.
FABULOUS and all done with restraint and historic detail. I will echo the comments saying ‘NO HARNESS ? “ Incredibly dangerous.
Tracy must not have been home that day. That's crazy, IMO.
Yes, harness would have been handy! 🤨👍🇦🇺
Why women live longer than men. 🤷
He is in scaffolding. Edit - oh no he isn’t, he is just on a platform. Ugh.
Nice touch. It looks wonderful!
Very important to have these dates embedded into stone looks wonderful
Thanks Susan 🥰
Rome wasn’t built in a day, Guys. We know you’ll do a magnificent job of restoring this chateau. Slowly, steadily, wins the race. Love the stonework. She’s coming back to life now. ❤❤❤
Thanks Carolyn 🥰
This new stone actually brought tears to my eyes! This is such a thoughtful idea to have it redone and by doing so add your mark on this incredible restoration. You are key in giving this château a future. Well done! ❤😊
Thank you so much! 🥰
Terry dear, I hate to hear you feeling you have to explain and defend your choices about any kind of work on the chateau...I'm sure comments can be helpful, but criticisms can be so rude and annoying. Most of us just enjoy watching you spin your magic and wouldn't think it right to complain about any of your decisions and choices. Keep carrying on as you see fit😊😊You are a magic maker❤
To be sure Chatelains are nothing if they aren’t dreamers, planners, patient, long-suffering! ❤😊 Long Game Winners! 300 yrs old..so Special!
Thank you 🙏 ☺️
The stone plaque looks so amazing in place on the tower! Love it! Terry, you deserve a medal for courage for perching up there on the rooftop working on the little dormer!! It was terrifying watching you! Bravo! ❤️
Thanks so much Rita 🥰
Wow! What a beautiful added piece to the chateau.
Thank you very much! 🥰
Only 4 years and SO MUCH done ! You must be incredible proud ! Thank GOD for 'foreigners' for restoring so many French buildings and chateaux ! xoxoxo
Thrilled for all of you! The new limestone is fantastic, and I don't know how Terry can work that high up but he has my utmost respect! I am saddened that some commenters struck a nerve about the awnings. I think their excitement over rides the realization you're doing all this yourselves. Each of you is incredible!
Thanks so much! 🥰
The renewal of the coat of arms stone is another milestone in the resurrection of the chateau. This was a fantastic idea and it really suits the tower like it has always been there. I love it 😀
Yes! Thank you! ☺️
Brilliant job, Terry….you are one gutsy bloke!
Thanks Yvonne
Ash…
The smile, grin and joy on your face is Priceless! 😊
Don’t worry about Terry, he’s got Spidye with him.
Good choice Terry…👊🏻
😊 thank you
Terry, be careful, you are so brave, just shows your dedication and love for your Chateau. And that stone with dates is very special, gave me goose bumbs!!!❤🎉
Thanks for that 🥰
You are in a select groupof chateau restores who have "reached new heights" of bravery in order to bring back a chateau's beauty. Well done!
Thanks Pat 🥰🥰
The addition of the signature stone embellishment is wonderful. Gives a real focal point to the front of the chateaux and is a testament to all your hard work.
Thanks Susan 🥰🥰
Terry, praying and peeking through my fingers to watch as you are WAY up there!!
Thanks Clay 🥰
I just want to let you all know how wonderfully amazing you are. You jump into tasks that so many of us would to afraid to tackle. You’re so brave. From scaling to the top of the chateau ( that takes some big ones 👏👏) to simply following a dream and doing something new. Your far away nail biting cheerleader. ❤
Thank you 🙏 ☺️
300 years!!! And you're doing it justice. LOVE the plaque and your inclusion ❤
Terry you are a braver person than me. My heart was in my thoat and I was truly dizzy just watching. Great job!
Thank you 🙏 ☺️
(2/3) Terry has surely got the "cahonies" to scale the chateau and paint that last bit that needed fixing! Brave man without a safety net...😮
Thanks Dale 🥰
I've owned a house with a large clock tower on the front, put up scaffolding, strapped on harness for rope access, absolutely no way on gods green earth would you get me up that high with all the safety equipment in the world. 1. too old now 2 just watching Terry made the pit of my stomach churn. The work that is being done is incredible and the stone Mason's craft is humbling. I am rivited, what next!! @@chateaudelalacelle
Cojones I think you mean ?
What a lovely addition to the façade.
Congratulations to Terry for the dormer window restoration. I know you're as excited to have that task ticked off the list as we are to see it finished. Bravo!
❤ from TX!
Thank you 🙏 ☺️
Why doesn’t this channel have a millions subs? This restoration is amazing
wonderful chateau ⚜brighter every day 🌞
Many thanks 🥰
A harness when you’re up that high! Adrian can teach you how-he always wears a harness on the roof. Also, once you do the awnings maybe make a mini-awning for Tracy’s house?
I love that you put your mark on the stone with 2020 as your family absolutely rescued the Chateau Please show the dining room and fireplace again, it has been so long since we've seen it. Terry, please use a harness, my father fell from a scaffold when it failed and it was his harness that saved him. He was injured, and laid up for a long time, but he recovered fully.
Thank you 🙏 ☺️
⚜️ The Château looks fantastic❗️⚜️
Thanks Amy 🥰
I have a couple of things to say, first to all of those people who are 'nagging' you about the work they see as should be completed, give it a rest. If you yourselves have ever done renovations you would have only an inkling at what a massive labour intensive job this is. I speak from experience and the reno jobs I have been involved in have been big but nowhere near the scope of this. Second, Terry, I thought I would throw up just looking at where you were doing the work on the dormer, my head is still spinning. Ash, your excitement is palpable and it is a diffident yes on the important of the stone with dates being placed. You ALL are amazing . Yes, blessed for sure.
Thanks Jeanette 🥰🥰🥰
Totally agree
I’m so happy about the dormer and I promise I won’t mention the awnings ever again! Ha! I am so proud and impressed by all of you! But I will ask about the grand salon! 😊😂
Thank you. 🥰
OhMyWord! Love the stonework. Top notch.
There is no way I could get on scaffolding that high. I know people have jobs that require high work all of the time, and some people who enjoy rock/mountain climbing, but for the average person that's a super-human job. Nicely done Terry.
I don't like negative comments, who are the @#$! complaining about what is not yet done (awnings)? Put up (the money or the time to do the work) or keep it to yourselves. sheesh.
Thank you 🙏 ☺️
Love the new insert….looks perfect!
Thanks so much! 🥰
Terry is fearless 😮😮😮😮. Seeing him sitting up there on that plank of wood was so scary and I am so glad he is finished painting now. The new plaque glistens in the sunlight, those gold numbers marking a milestone of your journey. It’s majestic 💗💗💗
Thanks so much 🥰
I had no idea that putting the stone plaque in was going to involve all that prep work! It looks so good 😍
It does! Thank you 🙏 ☺️
Wow 300 years old..what an amazing thing to have survived as well as it did..great work you all are doing bring back so much history of France..I am sure many are grateful so many chateaux are being restored all over France, and not lost..The date stone is beautiful..and so are all the improvements done to clean and restore..enjoying the ride with you!
Thank you 🙏 ☺️
Terry well done 🤗👍 Stone masons Beautiful
workmanship 🤗👍
Love Sue ❤❤❤🇬🇧❤❤❤
Thanks Sue 🥰
The stone with the three dates is beautiful! The dormer window is wonderful. ❤
It really is! Thank you 🙏 ☺️
Did you forget to put a safety harness in the spider bag 🤨 Long way down but in the blink of an eye it’s over. So please be more careful with your safety 😊 Having said that the window is looking great and the stone masons have done a sterling job of work. 😊
Thank you 🙏 ☺️
The stone work with the 2020 brought tears to my eyes beautiful ❤
Thanks Monica 🥰
The chateau looks amazing! I’m with you Ash, there’s no way I could climb up there and fix that dormer. Hats off to Terry! The new fleur de lis looks is the perfect addition. You’re all doing a wonderful job restoring this beautiful chateau.
Thanks Pam 🥰
The stone placard proclaims your stamp on Lalacelle for all eternity! My heart sings for you all!
Cette plaque est très importante et c’est un moment émouvant de voir la mise en place de cette magnifique plaque👍👍👏🩷
No coincidence that we haven't seen Tracy; if I was your mother Terry I'd be down there with my rosary beads saying a novena that nothing happened to you!
The plaque is a wonderful testimony all your hard work.
That being said I wish you wouldn't be affected by viewer's comments.
We're all bless to be able to have the ability to go on this journey with all of you.
You should hear only praise from your viewer's; certainly not criticism.
All those people setting on their assess or laying in their beds would never be able to do what You, Ash, Tracy; and the lovely family & friend's have accomplished these past years.
I say Bravo and F××K the people who criticize.
I think you all are simply awe-inspiring.
Love you guy's! ❤
I’ve got so emotional with the new stone! It’s like it was always there! Congratulations guys for the stone and all hard work! ❤
@@ananunez8374 it is amazing to have, our stamp on the châteaux history 🥰
The plaque with the three dates is definitely the icing on the cake to enhance the amazing beauty of that gorgeous tower! Oh Terry, I have no idea how you could sand, treat. & paint at that cold windy height, heck, I couldn’t look at some points without feeling very sick! 🤢 You truly are an amazing young man, everything is looking stunning! We’re all so proud of you! Well done to you all. With lots love and big hugs From Aberdeenshire Scotland ❤🤗xxx
Thanks Carrol 🥰🥰
The installation of the plaque was such an emotional recognition of the important landmarks in the life of the chateau. Really emotional! If buildings could only speak I’m sure it would express eternal gratitude for not only giving it new life, but honouring its past and instilling glory and love in its future. The chateau could not be more loved and cared for than with this family.
The new stone is fabulous! Can't imagine working that high, wielding a sander and then applying all those layers of paint! Job well done!
I am getting goosebumps when you talk about the new plaque. This is wonderful. Hats off to everyone who has labored tirelessly to bring this chateau back to life. I am watching from Canada through all these episodes.
Hello Darlings ❤
Terry what can I possibly say you always surprise us with your everything
Ash Dear your enthusiasm is catching we love you all
We are so happy for your success
Wish you more of it
Lots of hugs🐶❤️🐶❤️
Wow, thank you 🤩
Thank you for always including the products and companies that support your renovation work! I've learned so much visiting the products and business sites. That coupled with your decision making process has been a How To Primer for Renovation in France!!
The stonework is a masterpiece for you to express your joy at being able to restore this wonderful place. Can't wait to see the dormer finished. BRAVE Terry!!! I've heard it said you should keep a "ta done" list of things you have finished, instead of a "to do" list.
What an incredible group of visionaries that are hardworking and extremely passionate about this incredible project. Bravo to another step accomplished! 🎉❤.
Terry is so courageous: not everyone could do this, in fact most all of us couldn't. I wish he was wearing a safely harness though. The beautiful new stone insert with the château's dates is the finishing touch to the tower restoration and cleaning. I am amazed every time by team Lalacelle. You are all a joy to follow 🏰💪💪👏👏❤️
Thanks Cynthia 🥰
How incredibly beautiful that stone is!!! And Terry's work, as always, is impeccable!!
I absolutely love & admire your northern work ethic & determination to restore this magnificent chateau. Lots of love to you all from a Geordie fan. 👏👍❤️
I am always impressed with your ability to meet every challenge and conquer. But today brought such joy seeing your accomplishments. I had tears in my eyes . Congratulations on the stunning stone works
Thank you so much 😊
I am loving what you are doing to the Grand Lady Lalacelle. Thank you for bringing us on your journey. This is so much fun.
Thanks Pam 🥰
Everything you turn your hands to comes out perfectly. The new stone is amazing. Your excitement is palpable ! The other jobs will get done in their own time. We’re your audience not your supervisors. Many viewers would do well to remember that. Sending ❤
Exciting happenings at the Chateau! Terry you are crazy up there on the scaffold with no harness! I can't even go up to the 3rd rung on a ladder... The beautiful plaque brought tears to my eyes. You have brought life back to the ole girl and she's beaming with joy. ❤from the USA
The limestone piece you had made and put in is truly amazing. it will be a statement piece for sure. Be careful up there Terry. You are a braver soul than I.
This was a thrilling vlog!!!
WOW!!!! Thank you for sharing.
Beautiful addition to the chateau, I got a bit choked up when I saw you added the date of your stewardship. You should be so proud of what you've done! Michael
Oh Terry you really are frightening me. Hurry up and come down! On a serious note the chateau is looking gorgeous and i love the memorial stone.x
Thanks Sylvia 🥰🥰
It's strange that big jobs take less time than the fiddly little ones, but it's the little ones that stick out the most. Also the amount of work that involved in getting the scaffold up to just paint one window, is the reason for good work planning to spread the resource over many jobs. One fairly new airport I've used has an unfinished panel in the roof left when the scaffold was stripped out, but to get to it now will cost thousands.
Enjoy every piece as you complete, you've all worked very hard so savor the moments and thanks for taking us along. Stay safe up there.
The gardens look amazing from the drone shots. It's all beautiful. Proud of you all 😊
Thanks so much 🥰
I felt emotional when you gave short history. I love old buildings and have tremendous respect for those that refurbish them. Thank you. I’ve watched how hard you all have worked, it’s amazing. The stone looks amazing ❣️ The old girl is standing proud again ❣️ I’m sorry some people are so impatient. You’ve done a beautiful job so far, be so proud, because I’m proud of your family, friends and volunteers. ❤️
Thanks so much Brenda 🥰
You are my most favourite chateau restoration channel and meticulously plan and carry out your restorations. I love it. You never ever need to justify what you do, when and why for me, just keep on keeping on the way YOU want to. For awhile I was binge watching and you were on my screen at breakfast, lunch and dinner time for days and days. Sadly, now I’m caught up on your videos, no more daily binge watching, so need to find another chateau restoration, but soooooo hang out for each new video of yours. Thank you so much for sharing your restoration, I so enjoy it.
I am sure that you are enjoying starting to see it all come together. I cannot believe how far you have come in such a short time. I remember Terry being heartbroken when the wall collapsed and now you are putting your own finishing touches on it. Grand!
Thank you so much Ethan 🥰
Wonderful journey....thank you for taking us along!❤
It is amazing. You have done something so worthwhile with your lives.
What a legacy.
Oh Terry I was so worried about you all the way up there I'm glad you have done this and you are safe
This lady has got her identity back with the beautiful stone fleur-de-lis and dates I think this is a significant piece of the wonderful renovation of this beautiful Chateau well done to you all
You are a project managers extraordinaire! That date stone is absolutely perfect and the recognition of your contribution to the history of the chateau!
You continue to prove the courage and love for the home & life you have! All of you are beautiful and so creative! Whatever you choose is perfect for y’all, as it should be, it is your place! I am happy to watch y’all and pray for your success in all ways! ❤🎉 celebrating your success with each new step!!! Be safe!
Thank you so much! ☺️
I knew you would get that dormer window done eventually. Watching you all week after week making such amazing progress is really inspiring. I love watching and hope to visit one day. ❤
Im lost for words regarding your work ethic and commitment to this restoration.
I’m not sure if people realize what a monumental task it was to set up the scaffolding and climb so high!!!
My outmost respect to you all, my favorite chateau restoration channel.
Was holding my breath, seeing Terry up so high.
I’m with Ash, heights are not for me.
The chateau is such a BEAUTY!
Thanks so much 🥰🥰
This just finishes the chateau. Perfect!
Thank you 🙏 ☺️
Your accomplishments are amazing! I’ve no doubt that you’ve already considered all the jobs the armchair renovators have commented on. Your family’s work ethic and commitment is truly commendable.
Everything is looking absolutely beautiful, I was holding my breath watching Terry on the scaffolding, not many people would have done that. Please don't listen to foolish comments, all of you are working hard every day and look at all you have accomplished. I love watching your vision come to life!! Thank you for sharing, be safe.
The dates on the tablet look beautiful. To me it’s fantastic to see a lady involved with the installation Women like her and Tracy are inspirational. Get stuck in there girls ❤❤❤
Getting more fabulous every time you show off with what you guys have done!
Thank you 🙏 ☺️
Wow that stone is beautiful thanks for sharing ❤
You are so welcome 🥰
That little window is so special it deserves something special like......GOLD!😁
Haha. Noooo! 😂😂
Good things take time, PERFECTION takes a lil longer. You are creating a truly amazing legacy!! Thankyou
The stone work is amazing! Terry, don’t know how you got up there, I couldn’t do it!!! The Château look awesome and I can’t believe how quickly you get everything done. I admire your determination.❤
Very worrying Terry being so high and no rail or safety belt, so brave. You people work harder than most of the Chateau owners incredible really ❤
It's gorgeous, what a craftsman he is, it's the perfect addition to the tower xx
Ash and Terry: You both shined in this video as always. You are incredible people!
The new limestone carved piece is fabulous. Terry is a very brave man. I would get so dizzy up there. ❤
Congratulations to you all on this great achievement! The Chateau has definitely been bought back to life….hard work along with dedication, determination…. you have all accomplished the dream within your minds and hearts you must all be extremely proud in seeing the transformation….taking the Chateau into the next century! This driving force of dedication is a true testament to the vision, it has been achieved, with family, friends and people from afar watching and enjoying the progress the Chateau. Thank you ! ♥️♥️♥️👏🙌🍾🥂
Wow. Very special to see the stone in. Must have been such a good feeling for you all. A piece of history and now you are all part of it. Good on you all!
It looks amazing, thanks to your wonderful neighbors who have the skills
EEEEEEEE, It's coming together. So happy for you all! Terry, I bend down on bended knees in front of you. Keep one hand on the Chateau and a foot down for security and balance and away you go. I am one of the impatient watchers, who keep looking at that little window way on the top. When, when, when, and now it's getting done. Fantastic! I will never be able to come to your piece of heaven but know if I had the means I would. It would be sweet enjoyment. Thank you Family for taking us alone.
Thank you all so much 🥰
I absolutely love the new monument sign. It looks fantastic and so rightly commemorates the amazing new chapter you have brought to this chateau. Well done!
Laura and Brian, you did an amazing job and it looks beautiful. 👏🏻🥂❤️
I love it ❤. The marker stone says it all, it screams class in its simplicity. You guys amaze me. Thank you for waking the grand dame up. Terry, I have said prayers for your continued safety. The dormer is starting to shine.( I don't handle heights so well 😵💫) Take care and God be with you.😊
You are all working so hard. Terry is doing such wonderful work. He deserves a real pat on the back for doing the chateau dormer windows do high up and fixing around the tower. It's looking splendid. I love the new commemorative stone. It looks beautiful. I'm so glad important dates have been included with the fleur de lys. The garden really looks so good too. You're doing such a marvellous job together to bring the old girl back to life. Very well done. My best wishes always.
God bless you, Terry. I am like Ash. I couldn't go that high on scaffolding and a latter. While you're up there, please spray for moss/algae removal. The new paintwork looks fantastic.
Ash, I can see why you are so proud of your new cornerstone. You, Terry, and the whole family have made an enormous difference in the legacy of Château Lalacelle. She will thrive again! The whole village can be proud of your restoration efforts. You all are an asset to the community. 😊🎉❤
