I am an Indian. I know Pakistan won't import coaches from India but Indonesia makes German LHB coaches. They are the best for the trains below 200 km speed. Indonesia export them in great numbers. India also makes LHB coaches. But India export LHB coaches to Bangladesh and one or two countries in Africa as the internal demand is very high.

You said the Tech Transfer is already done, then why is the delay in start of manufacturing in Pakistan? The coaches look nice. Are they completely imported or at least assembled here in Pakistan? The sooner localization starts, the better it will be in bringing down the costs. Good informative video Sir.

Thanks a lot sir There is another company of rolling stock CNR, and PR already have it TOT and PR manufactured more then 200 coaches locally in CFI Islamabad, But this time they selected another company CRRC TANGSHAN to buy 46 CBU coaches also with TOT for CKD and local manufacturing, They had budget for it since late 2017 Thanks

I don't know why the Government had approved the purchase of coaches because these coaches could be manufactured in Pakistan. This shows that Chinese companies may have paid commission to their Pakistani counterparts just to execute the contract for the supply of coaches. Corruption is rampant in our society and needs to be rooted out. All coaches should have been manufactured in Pakistan.
U must have skill to manufacture coaches ,engines... But your country don't have engineers,workers,factories... Because if your gov approved to manufacture coaches in your country then that will not called manufacturing ...that's called assembling because your country will import each and every part of that coach form china.... And the cost of each coach will become double .

Hopefully the track will also come into their consideration.. Condition of our railway lines is despicable. Almost every train is late every other day. I hope the train lover minister will think of our track as well..
One simple thing to understand is that when two countries trade with each other, they have memorandum of understanding (MOU) about different imports and exports. Specially, when a country gets loan from other country, they set some terms that you have to buy some products from our country. Otherwise, why would a country gives loan to another country without getting any benefit. When China gives loan to Pakistan, they set some terms too that Pakistan has to buy some specific products from China so that China can get some economic benefit for its people.

Indian coach factories never shut down production because it costs too much to restart production. They ramp down production when there is no demand by keeping things running at minimum volumes in order to not lose the know how.
