Alcatel Idol Pop 4 Plus and Idol 4S Unboxing and Impressions

When are we going to see a full review of the Idol 4s and when will it be available for sale?
While it may not be the absolute top of the line processor from Snapdragon, it is actually the 2nd or 3rd most powerful SOC they have made (based on the systemwide Antutu benchmark). More importantly, it's the second most powerful CPU! The CPU even benchmarks easily better than Snapdragon 810, and even the Exynos octa-core in the S6 and Note 5. If that doesn't qualify it as one of Snapdragon's currently top of the line chips, I don't know what does!
It runs on the newest Cortex-A72 micro architecture and it absolutely flies! (The only other Snapdragon SOC currently with this architecture is the 820) It is just manufactured on the cheaper to produce 28 µm process (So it can't be pushed quite as hard as the 820).
It is worth noting that it comes with an Adreno 510 GPU, which is perfectly capable, but scores 12000 points less on Antutu compared to the Adreno 430 in the Snapdragon 810. However, overall, it scores anywhere from just better than the 810, or just less than 2000 points behind it (basically 81,000 vs 79,000), and I think it's quite notable that it makes up that 10,000 point gap left behind from the GPU with CPU prowess alone.
This is a more than capable SOC that has the latest architecture, provides blazing speeds, doesn't heat up as much as the 810 or 820, and provides a better real world performance to cost ratio. Since
+SQuA KingoftheAfro I never said the Snapdragon 820 nor the the 652 ran on Cortex-A73 cores. There is no mobile chipset currently using Cortex-A73, but the 652 does use Cortex-A72. **Although, you'll have to forgive me, because I remembered reading a while back that Snapdragon's new custom-built Kryo cores will be based on Cortex-A72 technology... but I cannot find any information supporting that, now. It's possible that I'm crossing the info from the early leaks saying it would be on Cortex-A72, and then the announcement that it would actually be a custom core, (still based on an ARM v8 64 bit instruction set).**
However, please note that the name (Cortex-A72, Cortex-A73, etc.) ONLY refers the microarchitecture of the core. That microarchitecture can be applied on several different sizes of nodes (processes). Look at the Cortex-A57 technology used in flagship Android's in America last year. Snapdragon (in the 808 & 810) put that microarchitecture on a 20 nm process, while Samsung used Cortex-A57 cores on a 14 nm FinFET process. Snapdragon is even giving the now dated Cortex-A53 microarchitecture a modern revamp with the Snapdragon 625, which puts older core technology on the newest 14 nm FinFET process, squeezing more speed and power efficiency out of it.
So, you see, the node / process size does not dictate the ARM A series.
i was looking at the 4s before the axon 7 was announced, leaning towards the 7, but it's quite heavy at 185 grams, 150 is the sweet spot for large phones

I have a acatel pop4+. 4 weeks old. It stop turning on due to water damage. my phone NEVER FELL IN ANY WATER , MAYBE DEW. it has
been treated with care. Why want it turn on???
try putting it in rice overnight..it should soak up any water

Just some criticism guys, sorry, but the Pop 4 is lower range, Pop 4 Plus is medium range and Pop 4s is high level

why has your 4s no fingerprint scanner at the back?
Only the United States model has that feature
+Cookie_Brown well that's annoying. why not release the same model across the world? I don't get it! I'd be annoyed knowing that the 4s in the UK has lower spec's than the US model.

lol i dont do apple. i have a note 5 so se would be a downgrade, the idol 4s wouldn't because athough the note5 has a "faster" processor i stil experience all kinds of damn lag and tbh the finger print sensor is a pain as well. double tap to wake then pattern was so much better on the idol 3 imo. i have a 5.7 inch screen the idol is 5.5. while the se has a tiny screen and has a tiny mono speaker. notes speaker sucks but is better than the se. idol has dual front and rear 360 surround jbl speakers rated at 3.6 watts each. the new 652 sd, not to be confused with the sd 650, easily compares the 808 and 810. www.androidauthority.com/snapdragon-652-vs-802-whats-difference-686684/ ty for the suggestion but i really do expect the idol to be damn good,especially considering the price point. unless the note 7 has dual front speakers and an amazing multimedia experience sans the music making and mixing abilities, then ill never spend another $800+ on a smart phone.
Hi Mike, sorry for the delay but we can tell you that the Idol 4S is down for an early July release. So maybe you can hold off on the Note 7.
