thinking about how much pain sanji must have been through to get beaten almost every day and by the time his mother died no one showed any care for him for years. think about being in fear and pain every day... and also robin having to survive on her own when the whole world seemed to hate her. like ... fuck bro imagine never having a place to feel safe and comfortable at all. and then with brook... being alone for so long has literally driven people insane he's a beast for surviving that and being any types of sane.
Sanji puts his hand on his head when he anxious or stressed. This is because some subconscious part of him is checking to see if the helmet is still there
Supporting characters in one piece backstories in a nutshell. newbie: "oh will we see them later?" *dies* "oh... nope." veteran: "so when are they dying?"
It is a weird coincidence how all 3 monster trio flashbacks were altered in some way by the anime. Luffy’s flashback happens late, as in the manga it was chapter 1. The anime also doesn’t show the scene of Luffy punching the lord of the coast until the end of the ASL flashbacks. Zoro’s flashback is after Syrup Village whereas in the manga it is during Shellstown when he is about to be shot by a firing squad. Sanji’s flashback has Zeff lose his leg trying to save Sanji whereas the manga has him literally smash his leg with a rock until it comes off and he eats it to survive on the rock they land on

I think backstories allow the reader to get a glimpse of the character's childhood or adolescence, helping him or her to better understand (or even justify) why the character became what he or she is today. This allows the reader to connect with and have empathy for the characters, forming an emotional bond with them. I also love Oda's foreshadowing. 29:14 Yes boys grow up and become stronger than girls as they grow up, it's biology 101. Men generally have longer bones, thus larger anatomical levers, facilitating higher force productions compared to women. Not to mention testosterone production in boys during adolescence stimulates bone formation and allows for a substantial increase in muscle mass. By adulthood, men therefore have greater muscle mass than women.

@@jarvisfowlkes3200 I don't know what you're talking about but I was talking about the fact that they didn't include Jinbe's flashback with Fisher Tiger etc. in this video
Although I wouldn't complain about getting to see Jinbe and Co. grow up in the Fishman District
Also saying "there wasn't anything bad that happened to him other than racism and discrimination" is a bit weird out of context lol
Caribou 😂😂😂
And... where's Condoriano's?
Franky is like the peak jerk with a dream that Bakugou from Hero Academia wishes he was.
The backstories in this show are honestly my favorite parts and build such a deep love for the characters. Loved your reactions!!
I love chopper so much and seeing his origin breaks my heart every time
0:10
"Oh shit, Luffy was like, super little."
Lmao, did you forget that children exist?
Imagine you lived alone for a long time, on the ship where your friends died and cannot kill your self either, that was haunting
I'm not crying, those damn ninjas are cutting onions again
talking about saul:
"i wonder if we're gonna meet this guy again"
me:
😭😭😭😭😭
I cried like 30 times watching this video wtf man
Chopper’s backstory is the first one that really FUCKED me up.
Sanji has a brutal backstory. The dude has really suffered.
8:34 He is my grandson
*LOUD ASS OREO AD*
Brook’s hurts me the most especially the scene where him and his crew are all singing and they all start dying during it until brook is the only one left and then he dies and comes back only to be stuck on a ship with the remains of everyone and the last recording of him and his crew dying as they were singing because they wanted Laboon to hear them sing together one last time in the hopes that Laboon would be able to hear them again one day
Your reaction to Sabos story was so heartbreaking bro 😢. God i feel your pain my guy was so rough
16:50 the fact that Luffys actual dream is always censored, made me more confident with the theory that he plans to unite all seas. Probably he knows his grandpa is always out and also Shanks is so faraway, that's why he wanted all seas to not have boundaries. 😢
I dunno, it also has to be a childish dream according to the reactions of those that heard Roger's and Luffy's dream. My fav theory so far is that he wants to have a banquet/party with the whole world.
Keep watching the show and you'll eventually hear him say it
I always thought Luffy's dream was to be the freest person
his dream is to become pirate king to become the free-est man in the world, but he also mentions a dream that he's never actually shared@@gugasouza7519
Can't wayt for the backstory of Condoriano!
Chopper's broke me. "Proof that anything is possible." 😢😢😢😢
I don't want to rank the stories, because they all had, to a degree or another, a sad element to them.
But Chopper gets me every time, maybe its that among all the stories, his dream is the most self-less.
It's so tough when it's about kids. As an adult, you have a lot more understanding of the world and ways of dealing with hard situations, but kids are so vulnerable.
thinking about how much pain sanji must have been through to get beaten almost every day and by the time his mother died no one showed any care for him for years. think about being in fear and pain every day... and also robin having to survive on her own when the whole world seemed to hate her. like ... fuck bro imagine never having a place to feel safe and comfortable at all. and then with brook... being alone for so long has literally driven people insane he's a beast for surviving that and being any types of sane.
I have never watched one piece but I am LOVING this lmao trauma is so great
2:45
"Luffy can't swim!?? But he wants to be a pirate, how does that work???" D:
One-piece: *Poorly.*
Sanji puts his hand on his head when he anxious or stressed. This is because some subconscious part of him is checking to see if the helmet is still there
As a music guy, i was a huge fan Brooks backstory and I even sang along to Binks Brew at the end of Thriller Bark.
39:50 ish, I think it got cut out in most versions of the anime, but in the manga, Zeff ate his own mangled leg, after he rescued Sanji
Supporting characters in one piece backstories in a nutshell.
newbie: "oh will we see them later?" *dies* "oh... nope."
veteran: "so when are they dying?"
Even after 20 years, Chopper's backstory never fails to make me tear up.. Never forget Dr. Hiriluk 😭
Sanji’s flashback has Zeff lose his leg trying to save Sanji whereas the manga has him literally smash his leg with a rock until it comes off and he eats it to survive on the rock they land on
Been warlord tier since March of this year and I have been LOVING all the manga reactions. I also enjoy going back and watching some of your older reactions with the anime. Its so fun
Well, now I am crying again because Brooks just fucks me up everytime....I am bawling at 1am with my cats being confused
Robin's story just leaves me crying the whole time when she's sailing off and the island just burning
Sanji’s backstory is insanely sad but
brook’s backstory…. I just can’t imagine the absolute hell of that life
living on a ship in with your dead crew-mates as the only thing with you in the darkest and worst seas… for a whole 50 years..
I would just give up and stop sailing then just hop off and try to find a ship to be in. but he can’t even swim because he ate a devil fruit
I feel so bad for brook.
One piece really looks like a cartoony fun time but then sucker punches you with the backstories
When brook was like where is everyone? This has turned into a quartet. Trio. Duet. Solo as he breaks down and dies. 😢i mean bro
Kid luffy's cry is hearbreaking. Watched it when i was 9. Damn Shanks love luffy much
watching this 7 months pregnant and im just steady crying. I needed this video
For me the robin backstory hits really hard, and then they put the I want to live moment.. nah bro that broke my heart
Sanji has the saddest back story
Yeah
Yup
Bro... brook and robin
@@giusepperindello3114 they also have sad backstorys but in my opinion sanjis is sadder
@@SomeCatThatExistsSanjis backstory was the most suffering, In my opinion the darkest backstory and the most saddest was Brook and Sanji right behind him
“ Luffy can’t SWIM???? But he’s a pirate how does that work?” Ahhh memories 😫
27:15
The stairs: not quite
30:08
The stairs: again, not gonna happen
The saddest backstories rank imo:
1. Robin
2. Sanji (Zeff + Germa pasts)
3. Nami
4. Brook
5. Chopper
6. Franky
7. Luffy (Shanks + Ace and Sabo pasts)
8. Jimbei
9. Zoro
10. Usopp
facts
The only requirement to join the Strawhats is to have a traumatic as hell backstory and still somehow turn out to be a good person despite having every reason to curse the world
All the backstories are sad and the saddest one was brook😭😭😭
29:14 "Is it because of genetics?"
"It's because I'm in a shonen series."
Shank's glad Luffy is alright.
Well, of course he is.
Fun fact! Though it is incredibly dangerous, it is possible to survive over a month without food. A few days without clean water though and you will die
DOWN D STAIRS truly one of the most powerful characters in one piece if not anime
Brook litteraly a greatman, alone in the dark sea with his friend's dead bodies for 50 years and still sane is unthinkable, the saddest back story ever in One Piece
Brooks backstory truly is one that will make you cry is so sad
For me... chopper arc make me always cry for every moment and scene...chopper arc surpassed my expectation
honestly.. out of all the straw hats, there's only ONE that doesnt have a backstory worth breaking someone. and it's USOPP
Sanji really hard a horrible childhood. Imagine getting out of hell to end up in hell again x)
Brooks backstory makes me cry just thinking bout it
Nami and Robin’s make me sob every single time i watch it.
'Because he definitely did it, there ain't nobody better than Zoro'
Mihawk: >:‑) >:‑) >:‑) >:‑)
Nami, Robin, Sanj and Brook are all stories that hit…but for me the thing that breaks me is Chopper. With Brook it’s sad but his crew went out happy which both hurt but actually made things a little better…Nami and Robin have assholes you can hate to keep the tears away. But Chopper😭…yeah Wapol is there but the most devastating part of Chopper’s backstory had nothing to do with him so I couldn’t use my hate of hit to distract…Chopper’s cries of anguish hurt bad😭
A human can survive 3 months without eating but only 3 days without drinking.
3 weeks*
All of them hit hard especially Brook's and sanji's backstory
