It is now possible to run LightBurn on the xtool D1. I've been using it for a few days and it is a big improvement. That along with an air assist modification, a honeycomb bed and an inexpensive exhaust system it's an amazing set up.
6:30- it's not UV light, it's blue light around 540nm wavelength. This doesn't mean you should be looking at it, but since it's visible light you have a pretty good indication of your exposure level.
Mine arrived yesterday and today I had time to install it. I did not manage to get lightburn finding / connecting to my Atomstak X7 on my MacBook Pro (2013, macOS Big Sur). After many tries and adding the cutter manually (choosing GRBL), I tried lightburn again on my pc laptop. This also didn't work initially, until I choose GRBL. Now it works. Anyway, thanks for your review - I checked this video with the hope of seeing how you connected lightburn on your Mac to your X7. :)
I just bought the X7 pro with extension kit, rotary attachment, extension feet, oversize rollers and pre-purchased the air assist. Basically everything they have for the X7. I've had it for about 2 months and used it a handful of times. It behaved glitchy then it started rebooting 1/3 of the way through any job. It did this running from the computer and from the SD card. Atomstack was pretty cool about replacement of the mainboard. No cost, no shipping fee. The new board should arrive 3/11/22, hopefully that will fix the problem. I'll let you know.
You keep saying "per second" (10:48 for example) but the printing on the board says per minute. I'm sure it is per minute as it would probably shake the engraver right off your bench at those speeds per second.
Here's a good question. Can you talk more about these companies and what else they might make or what quality of support they provide. It's hard to get the straight poop from customer reviews that get lift on let say Amazon.
Thank you so much for all the amazing information! For weeks now I have been exhaustively researching laser engravers for my first one. I had pretty much decided on the Atomstack A5 Pro until I saw this video, and so glad I did! The question I have is, can you please clarify the differences, if any, in the Atomstack models X7, A10, and S10? I'm getting conflicting information from sellers. Some say there is no difference in the three except for the color of the unit. Another says "S10 Pro is improved performance in all aspects than X7, also it can engraving material including wood, glass, stainless steel, acrylic, etc. and with faster speed and more better results. This will be a better choice for all engraving and cutting enthusiasts." My head is spinning and I figure if anyone can get to the bottom of this, you can! :) Thank you!!
Hi, i contacted the Atomstack customer service yesterday with the same question. The X7 is still the flag ship. The A10 is just an dealer model, it has the same specs and price but it has just another color. The S10 looks like an aliexpress dealer model but the S10 is not mentioned on the official Atomstack site.
@@RetroglowSystems Thank you so much for checking into this. Prior to getting your reply I ordered the S10 Pro from Atomstack Official. I plan to try it out today. Fingers crossed. I think the comparison should be between the Atomstack A5 PRO and the Ortur Master Pro 2. They are both similar optical power. The X7 Pro would be the next step, don't you think? thanks for the video by the way.
You keep saying this is cheaper than the Ortur, but even the price in your links show this $100 more! Do you have the prices mixed up or have they changed that much in a month?
Could you recommend a machine in this same price range or thereabouts that is capable of cutting sheet styrene, pvc board and plexiglass in thicknesses that are no greater than a quarter inch?
I’ve enjoyed watching your review videos. We are starting our own business and will primarily be doing engraving of different types of woods including hard woods. With occasional cutting small things. Trying to find the best thing to start with. Between this and Ortur. Any recommendations?
Can you or anyone else let us know what the lifetime is on the diode lasers. I know it differs but on average what would the life time be for the ones you reviewed. Would make a big difference for making a decision on a purchase. Thanks

Have you ever reviewed the Sculpfun S9 laser engraver? I would like to cut 1/4" black acrylic. Some of the reviews say this is possible. I would also like to work with laminated sign material. I would really appreciate your opinion on this. Always informative fun videos. Thanks.
The Sculpfun S9 can cut 10mm acrylic. The energy density of the beam is higher than usual. It's supposed to produce similar results to a 90 watt CO2 laser because of that.
This is great.. do you know anything about the SculpfunS9? I really want something that can cut thicker, but overall... a larger space. I hear the sculpfun S9 is perfect for that. Thanks so much! I love your videos!
Atomstack x7 or D1? Been watching lots of your videos and it's my go too. Want to engrave mostly barrel heads from whiskey barrels.Very little cutting. Want something that works at a reasonable amount of time. Or should i just bight the bullet and go CO2?
Hi thank you for the great video. Can you tell me the name of the microscope you were using in the video? Id love to get some information on it...thank you
Say you have a four foot piece of steel that is 1” wide and only 1/4” thick and you only needed like a four inch linear logo engraved. Could you just slide it on top of the work area with the unused pieces hanging off either end? Or does the entire piece you’re engraving have to sit inside the workspace. Thx
Hey Brandon Will you ever try testing out a J Tech 7W PRO Laser for the XCarve? Would love to see you test one of those out and hear your opinion on it.
I bought one. Got a good price and sent it back without ever even opening the package. I wanted to test the availability of repair parts. It is a machine, parts wear. I contacted the manufacturer and guess what, no, parts are NOT available individually. Atomstack (Creality3d) machines are NOT repairable using OEM parts.
They updated their claim on their website to 0.06 x 0.06mm although their Amazon store shows both 0.08 x 0.15 and 0.08 x 0.08mm. I talked to their customer service and they confirmed it is 0.06 x 0.06mm. Could you check it with a different material without a grain such as SS?
Thank you for posting this - VASTLY informative - but I have a very basic newbie question: why can these not-as-expensive lasers NOT cut or engrave CLEAR acrylic? It seems to be a running theme with all of my research so far in potentially buying a hobby laser…
Great question, any diode laser (which most of these cheaper machines are) generate a laser beam frequency that won’t interact with anything clear. You could still do colored acrylic but for clear you’ll need a CO2 laser which works in a different way.
A couple questions that I hope you can answer for me. I've been watching several of you videos, Thanks for doing them. Can you cut dry erase foam board with out melting the centre foam, or how bad does it melt or make a mess of it. If it doesn't wreck it, since the foam board is not perfectly flat how big a variance can you have with out having a major issue. I presume it would affect the focus? Just shopping and like the power of this X7 Pro. one last question will you be showing any laser cutter with the auto head adjuster like the one you mention in this video. Thanks in advance
Great review, thanks. Do you think this machine would work well for cutting drink stirrers from a sheet of acrylic and then engraving them? I saw the entire process done by another RUclipsr but she was using a $4,995 Glowforge Plus. A little out of my price range, especially for my first machine. Thanks.
So, I’m getting conflicting info in reviews and even from atomstack about its capabilities regarding metal. In your review you note that it can engrave stainless but that’s it. Atomstack says they can engrave any metal. When asked to differentiate between mark and engrave I got no answer. Can this machine articulately mark or engrave aluminum? Not just black mark. I need gray scale. That’s my project. Thanks!
I make a lot of charcuterie boards. The boards themselves are larger than this workspace, but most times, the engraving would fit in this workspace. would I be able to set this up above a large board? or would the feet of the machine get in the way, or not allow clearance for the machine to operate?
Can you recommend a machine that is capable of cutting styrene, pvc board and plexiglass in thicknesses that are no? greater than a quarter inch in the same price range
Hey Brandon, great video and content, I didn't know about this til now. I have a question for you, I recently bought the Atomstack a5 pro and I noticed the x axis where the laser module mounts there is play in it where it rolls on the rail, not sure if I'm describing this right but simply put is the suppose to be play in that? It can rock back and forth but the few tests that I've done it doesn't seem to be rocking, just smoothly rolling on the rail. You're my go to laser guru. Thanks for the help and God bless you and your family and our entire RUclips family.
now when the xTool 10w works with lightburn. what would you suggest to get? Think its mainly going to be for engraving. cutting I can do on the co2 laser. but like to get a smaller dot for the engraving.
Hello. I just got the Atomstack M50. I want to use it on my big cnc router. I can not find any info on the inputs. What do I use to turn it on and off? and so forth. Is it 3V, 5V, or 12V input? What pins? Thanks.
Thanks for the video. I was just browsing the Atomstack site and noticed that they sell the 10W module as an accessory. Could I put that on the A5 machine as an upgrade? What else would I need to make that work?
I would love to hear your advice actually I've been looking at your videos now for quite a while because I am getting more and more interested in buying my own laser cutter. I have a lot of experience with MDF as well as resin printers. Even before I used to go to the city workshop where I operated with their CO2 Laser (HyperCUT 6090 PRO). I can print a lot of things with my printers but still I would love to be able to cut and engrave stuff.. + with wood you get that warmer feeling if you give some sort of gift. I would love to have a machine that is capable of cutting good as well as engraving. Mostly I would cut some sort of stands and smaller chests or boxes for storage or decoration. material wise; Foam, MDF, acrylic and vinyl. So with this cutter it's really, really tempting. Price is fair, even though I was always in love with Co2 lasers and dreaming about getting one because of speed and enclosure and everything else. I also looked at some of your other videos like OM Tech K40 and its bigger 50w brother but with K40 the problem is cut volume and with 50w machines the problem is price. So if you were in my position, which machine would you recommend me getting? Should I save up the money and buy bigger CO2 for like 1500 - 2000€ or should these smaller diode machines work well enough for me? Thank you for your answer!!
You shouldn't cut vinyl with an laser. That releases Chlorine and Hydrochloric Acid vapours. It will destroy your lungs and your machine. Diode machines have problems with not black acrylic, as that wavelength isn't all that good absorbed by the plastic itself and are really slow with wood. Also you really shouldn't cut anything with an laser without air filtering. The pyrolysis products, especially from plastics can be quite nasty.
@@FreeOfFantasy Thank you for the heads up! I actually didnt know that about Vinyl cutting. So its cutting vinyl with CO2 a no go as well? At home I have my own home made paint booth and If I ever bought diode laser cutter I would use that system for it as well with added filters. I would just need to add enclosure to the laser.
@@LonelyWolfJ Correct, it's still a no-go on vinyl with a CO2 laser. Note that there are exceptions here specifically in regards to some HTV (Heat Transfer Vinyl - think t-shirt design) products from Siser and the like. But check the vendor product page for each specific product page. They'll explicitly list "laser-safe" for those applicable.

It is, its actually a honeycomb bed from a larger CO2 machine. But you can purchase something similar as a standalone piece. The Atomstack also comes with a metal sheet to put underneath when you are cutting, but it's still good to get the work piece up for airflow.

Will you ever try testing out a J Tech 7W PRO Laser for the XCarve?
Would love to see you test one of those out and hear your opinion on it.
I bought one. Got a good price and sent it back without ever even opening the package. I wanted to test the availability of repair parts. It is a machine, parts wear. I contacted the manufacturer and guess what, no, parts are NOT available individually. Atomstack (Creality3d) machines are NOT repairable using OEM parts.
Do you think this is better than the LASERPECKER
I am interested in a laser for small projects such as apple watch bands and customization of maybe wood, phone cases etc. What do you recommend
Mm per min not per second, great review 👍
Yep good call
hello, what is the difference between Atomstack A10 PRO 50W and X7 pro
Thank you for posting this - VASTLY informative - but I have a very basic newbie question: why can these not-as-expensive lasers NOT cut or engrave CLEAR acrylic? It seems to be a running theme with all of my research so far in potentially buying a hobby laser…
Great question, any diode laser (which most of these cheaper machines are) generate a laser beam frequency that won’t interact with anything clear. You could still do colored acrylic but for clear you’ll need a CO2 laser which works in a different way.
so looks like this would easily cut say 3/16 in leather?
A couple questions that I hope you can answer for me. I've been watching several of you videos, Thanks for doing them. Can you cut dry erase foam board with out melting the centre foam, or how bad does it melt or make a mess of it. If it doesn't wreck it, since the foam board is not perfectly flat how big a variance can you have with out having a major issue. I presume it would affect the focus? Just shopping and like the power of this X7 Pro. one last question will you be showing any laser cutter with the auto head adjuster like the one you mention in this video. Thanks in advance
So which one do you recommend for a beginner. The Atomstack A7 or the Ortur LMP?
Afternoon Brandon can you do a sample how it will do on a yeti 32oz Please I want to know how it will perform.
Great review, thanks. Do you think this machine would work well for cutting drink stirrers from a sheet of acrylic and then engraving them? I saw the entire process done by another RUclipsr but she was using a $4,995 Glowforge Plus. A little out of my price range, especially for my first machine. Thanks.
Very informative review, thank you. Will this cut 0.75 Baltic birch?
Can you recommend a machine that is capable of cutting styrene, pvc board and plexiglass in thicknesses that are no? greater than a quarter inch in the same price range
will your lightburn test files work on other programs like laser box or K40 whisper?
Thank you for sharing nice video 👍👍👍 can this machine cut 1/8” plywood?
Is marking inside of a stainless steel spoon possible ? Thanks..
Great videos with a lot of information! Would this laser engrave my tools?
i don't think so,unless they are wooden.
Hello do you know if I can put an A20 watt laser head in this body.
can you please review the ATOMSTACK X20 PRO 130W
Which laser do you feel is the best for glass both flat and water glasses, also include ceramic material like cups ?
Hey Brandon, great video and content, I didn't know about this til now. I have a question for you, I recently bought the Atomstack a5 pro and I noticed the x axis where the laser module mounts there is play in it where it rolls on the rail, not sure if I'm describing this right but simply put is the suppose to be play in that? It can rock back and forth but the few tests that I've done it doesn't seem to be rocking, just smoothly rolling on the rail. You're my go to laser guru. Thanks for the help and God bless you and your family and our entire RUclips family.
In the instructions there should be directions that tell you about the small screw underneath that you tighten to adjust the resistance
What's the difference between this and the ATOMSTACK A10 PRO?
now when the xTool 10w works with lightburn. what would you suggest to get?
Think its mainly going to be for engraving. cutting I can do on the co2 laser. but like to get a smaller dot for the engraving.
Hello. I just got the Atomstack M50. I want to use it on my big cnc router. I can not find any info on the inputs. What do I use to turn it on and off? and so forth. Is it 3V, 5V, or 12V input? What pins? Thanks.
Thanks for the video. I was just browsing the Atomstack site and noticed that they sell the 10W module as an accessory. Could I put that on the A5 machine as an upgrade? What else would I need to make that work?
Can the Atomstack S10 cut shapes out of metal sheets? If so, what is the max thickness? Thanks for all of the information.
I was looking at a 50w kenoktool le400 it's currently on sale for 250 from 400 on Amazon. Is it worth the shot in your opinion?
Any opinion on this machine, stool D1, compared to the sculpfun s9 laser?
Is it possible to connect it to LightBurn via wifi?
Sculpfun 6.? Comparison?
I would love to hear your advice actually
I've been looking at your videos now for quite a while because I am getting more and more interested in buying my own laser cutter.
Can you cut paper with that?
Would this be better if you could get air supply in??
hi! that machine can cut 5mm mdf? what parameters do you use to cut it if it is possible? thanks a lot
Can you recommend a reliable and cheap NON chinese laser engraver for a hobbist. I dont want to spent too much money on a LE, because I just want to discover how it works, but also not a chinese bargain. Thank you.
Can you review the Neje with their 15w optical output module ?
Yep, coming next!
@ 17:12 it shows a half done test? Im guessing because it stopped where it is really charred? I have tried to run this 4 times with it stopping around there can you confirm this and do you know why ? Thank you
What video microscope are you using? The on-screen scale is very cool.
Tomlov 8.5 digital microscope. But the ruler I actually added in to the image on the computer. I used a test image to get an accurate measurement and matched the digital ruler to that.
Great video..veey informative
Is xtool D1 is good for online small buisness
tell us about your bed? is that aluminum honeycomb?
It is, its actually a honeycomb bed from a larger CO2 machine. But you can purchase something similar as a standalone piece. The Atomstack also comes with a metal sheet to put underneath when you are cutting, but it's still good to get the work piece up for airflow.
Do you play with larger bed lasers? like 2440x1220 kinda size?
Will this cut stencils without melting them
Thank you for this video ,,this machine I'm for sure going oder it , what program should I use ?
I like Lightburn (paid), but also LaserGRBL is great (free)
Sounds great I will purchase lightburn , have a good day
