    Hi guys! I am so sorry, I haven't missed any of your videos since I subscribed, but I don't always get to comment. Loved the Natural Bridge video, and was there last year while visiting our daughter who is a college student in Lynchburg. It was an enjoyable afternoon, and was so good to see that you went, too! This video, as they all are, was so lovely and you both do such a good job of explaining why you make the choices you do--so very helpful! Especially about National Parks vs State Parks! Stay safe and healthy, looking forward to seeing you next Sunday! (:

      That burger was delicious. Both meals... the sliders might have been better than the main meal. 😂. That spot was like a spaceship landed there... just flattened out in the middle of the meadow and she loved it. She took a nap a little later after realizing that might not have been smart to do during a long hike... but come to think of it Owen did too. 😂. ❤️ 💕

    I thought to email you before we went on our trip. We were in Mathews Arm Sunday Oct 11 and Monday the 12. Then went to big meadow campground for Tuesday and Wed. Headed to Loft Mountain campground for Thursday-Saturday and ended up in Peeks of Otter for Sunday night. We just got home and we’re getting caught up on your videos and found out you guys were in Shenandoah too! Sorry to miss you guys.

      We just missed you, we left Mathews Arm on Sunday the 11th. We did have a couple days of rain after that. Which campground was your favorite? Sounds like you had a great trip.

    • @blocksandy
      @blocksandy 4 года назад +1

      VAN TREKKING lifestyle I would have to say we liked Mathews Arm because of the small size. (As you know it rained Sunday and so many campers didn’t show up) Second is Loft. It is close to Doyle’s River (a falls trail) and Black Rock Summit (360 degrees view overlook. EXCELLENT)Two trails we really enjoyed. Last Big Meadow. At that time we were a party of three couples and it was comfortable for all rigs. But we are usually on our own and it was too crowded if we were on our own. 😉 But we enjoyed Hawkbill summit and Dark hollow falls. Yes it was a beautiful trip and there are a few more trails I would like to hike so we will be back. 😍

    As always, you do not disappoint with your taste of fall from Shenandoah. Like you, I enjoy the “weeds” as they go from summer through their lifecycle into fall and then winter. I probably have as many pictures (close up) of seed pods as I do of the leaves! We’ve seen many of the things you showed along your journey and they never get old. We won’t get to make a trek into leaf peeping country this year but your video gave us the visit we were hoping to make. The tips for deciding where to camp are always good to know. The reminder that you will be many, many miles back to a real grocery store or gas station is good information even if you’re not camping but are a day tripper. Running short on food or - heaven forbid - coffee, can make a camping trip or day journey less than fun! So words to the wise are a good thing!!
    Thanks again for a gentle and relaxing visit to Shenandoah in my recliner. Maybe next year we will make it a real journey. But for 2020 a virtual trip is just the ticket! Do ya happy dance. 😉

      The Big Meadows walk gave me a new appreciation for weeds. I have never seen so many plant species in one place, there were 100’s. It was one of my favorite things we experienced on this trip. Thanks so much for spending part of your Sunday with us. We hope you have a wonderful week.

      @@VANTREKKINGlifestyle I live on Long Island, New York. It is a very populous place and becoming more so every day. Great video. So glad to see you at SNP! I love hiking the trails there. The reasons on your "cons" list are why we don't camp there. We do go camping at Shenandoah/Harrisonburg KOA or Luray KOA that has full hookups. But your right, it would be nice to start a hiking trail at the campsite. Happy trails!

    • @VANTREKKINGlifestyle

      Pros and Cons are such individual things that we sometimes hesitate to share ours... we're so set in our ways these days. We didn't share it on the video but being so close to so many colleges Saturday night was like a frat party at many of the sites near us. Well, that might be old man speak for they were a little noisy. 😂. But being right there for the hikes and strolls was definitely a reason we'll do it again soon. Thanks for being with us. Happy Tails!

    FYI, the other 3 campgrounds in Shenandoah National Park do have showers, but you need quarters for them. I just stayed at Mathews arm for the first time last weekend, but I have camped at the other campgrounds as well. When the weather is cool enough not to need AC, I would highly recommend all the campgrounds in the park

    • @VANTREKKINGlifestyle
      @VANTREKKINGlifestyle  4 года назад +1

      You are so right and we should have shared that. We rarely use the showers but try to remember to include the info. But that quarter thing... 😂 It's all I can do to remember soap and shampoo and towels... I'd end up walking back to the camper for quarters for sure. 😂. We have stayed in Loft Mountain and loved it there too. Thanks for being with us and letting others here know about the showers.

      That is a beautiful campground... Loft Mountain is our favorite cg in the park. But we were traveling north on Thursday and even though we planned to stay there we decided getting a spot there for that night would be doable but then driving to Mathews Arm the next morning would put us in the long line at 7:30 hoping to get a spot. We were right... the line was half way up the hill there waiting and many were turned away. Glad you're with us.

    Great video as always. I tried to inhale hard enough to smell the steaks, peppers and onions but couldn’t quite do it. Yummie! Question if you do not mind....how much do you use the Travato versus how much did you think you would use it? More, or, less? My wife and I have not bought our rv yet, but I think we will use it more than we think we will. My apologies if you have answered this already. Regards, Tim

      We have used it a lot more than we ever thought we would. I think a lot of the reason is it is so much easier than any other RV that we’ve had. Also, now we are also using it as our daily driver because of having a bathroom with us all the time. Thanks for the question.

      The pass is the Senior National Park Pass. You can purchase when you are 62, it’s a lifetime pass for $80. It gives you free entry to National Parks and half price for camping in NP and COE campgrounds. I like the #maggiecam idea.

    Do you use the 17 or 22 inch Blackstone, you have both listed in your Amazon store...

    • @VANTREKKINGlifestyle
      @VANTREKKINGlifestyle  4 года назад

      We take the 17 on camping trips and use the 22 at home. The 22 is a little to heavy and big for the van. Owen does prefer the 22 because it has 2 burners.

    Your cabin always looks so neat. Where do you store your outdoor gear?

    • @VANTREKKINGlifestyle
      @VANTREKKINGlifestyle  4 года назад

      We do our best to have a place for everything and put everything in it's place... but that's hard for us too. Most of the time it looks just like that... but many times we'll tidy up before filming inside. We have the trailer, the storage box on the back and the Thule up top. A lot of our outdoor things are in those places. But things we use every day are either above the cab in that shelf, over the door in that shelf or in the storage area at the back door. Thanks for being with us.

    Just wondering what ever happened to your Lithium Upgrade in the Travato?

    • @VANTREKKINGlifestyle
      @VANTREKKINGlifestyle  4 года назад +1

      Well, the lithium battery installation has been a "journey". If I had just taken the AGM batteries out we would be much better. As it is it seems the only purpose in life for the lithiums is to keep the AGMs topped off. We have lots more power and on this trip made it 3 days without running out of power or needing the generator. But it's hard to measure SOC (state of charge). Making a change this week. 😂

    Was that a double wall stainless steel stemless wine glass that you used to put water on the griddle? It has a nice smooth rounded edge. Where’d you buy them?

    Do you have a filming permit? You are a professional film maker. Fine could be coming.

    • @VANTREKKINGlifestyle
      @VANTREKKINGlifestyle  4 года назад +1

      We do not like almost all other RUclips creators who travel. We have asked several times while entering if filming and have even had rangers subscribe. We were told OK in places everyone can go and as long as you are not doing something that defaces property or encourages others to engage in activities not allowed in the park. The Kara and Nate situation may change that though... we'll see. .gov site still does not mention RUclips content specifically. It does mention drones and even though we love our drone we never, ever break those rules. Thanks for the warning.

      @@VANTREKKINGlifestyle Glad you're on top of this. Was just about to ask the same question after seeing this video and reading about Kara and Nate in this morning's rvtravel.com newsletter. Absolutely love your videos and seeing the beauty of the parks through them is wonderful. Would be sad to have to avoid that, but we sure don't want to see you caught up in any kind of trouble.
