Lyapunov's "Rhapsody on Ukrainian Themes" is one of my favorite Russian works. This brilliant performance is arguably the most dynamic (energetic) I've ever had the pleasure to experience. BRAVO to both pianist and orchestra!

The Rhapsody is in a modified rondo form, centered around the key of 'F-sharp minor/Major. It was published in 1908 and dedicated to Ferrucio Busoni. The following year it was premiered with the composer as soloist with the Free School Orchestra conducted by A.A. Bernardi. The rondo episodes are as follows:
    I. Andantino pastorale (F-sharp minor) 0:15
II. Allegretto scherzando (B-flat minor) 6:23
III. Andantino pastorale (G minor) 9:10
IV. Allegro giocoso (F-sharp Major, in kazachok tempo) 11:08
The kazachok is a dance of the Ukrainian Cossacks.
