  • Compassionate Inquiry is a psychotherapeutic method developed by Dr. Gabor Maté that reveals what lies beneath the appearance we present to the world.
Using Compassionate Inquiry, the therapist unveils the level of consciousness, mental climate, hidden assumptions, implicit memories and body states that form the real message that words both express and conceal.

He helps us build a bridge back to our hearts.
He is not a bridge. His words are but mere instructions for rebuilding our own.
So the only thing that made sense was your heart, when you used his words to came back into alignment

Without going into the details of the history, how do you decipher all the present emotions correctly?
I have been looking for a therapist like him for myself. Since I couldn’t find one, I decided to heal myself by his teachings. I realize that I sometimes can’t really recognize many of my feelings. It is not easy to pinpoint the correct emotion. I think many therapist are failing doing that so.
How does he do that? Did he ever touch that anywhere?

Perhaps not making a person feel good, but providing a connection between therapist and client, where an sense of authenticity and safety is created, where by the client feels safe enough to discuss their woes, without the feeling of being judged, that the therapist time is truly invested in you, only wanting the best best outcomes possible.

Father Greg Boyle calls it "returning people to themselves." He quotes the phrase from a Christmas carol, "and the soul felt it's worth."
I love how different people say the same thing in different words, so we can get it.
Now, we just need to learn how to do this with each other, everyday!

I have always known i could provide this with my students. I had one very depressed anger 3rd grade student whom I connected with just as you are speaking. He started out sleeping every day for an hour on his desk. I found out his mother passed the year before. And, after making a compassionate daily connection for 30 days - no more sleeping in class. I was a temporary teacher. I asked the kids what the other teacher did when he fell asleep. They said, "she yelled and said get up lazy".

I am now qualified as a compassionate Inquiry Counsellor, under your programme - no other Dr or psychiatrist comes CLOSE to you, or your knowledge. I believe that is because they are unable to understand these disorders, they either don't have them, or they've long lost interest in the person, waiting for the pay check.

I have never seen one who lived with all life long with happiness or sadly purely. In my opinion, if you are in trauma or painful, let's thinking, there is a good day for one who lives as you can do the better as the beginning the new. Painful is something in common. Let's live in reality not expect, but no hopelessly to be.

Because the pause of the speaker turns the focus to you and requires you to really process what he has just said, so now you have the responsibility to in a sense respond inwardly, what you do with the information he is giving you is like a responsibility that really carries weight. What are you doing now that you have this knowledge… his pause is your turn in the dialogue, he’s asking you to not only listen but to take in the gravity of what he is saying and act on it. He is passing you the baton

He’s not. Maybe a false Jesus or which there are many. But how would you know what the real Jesus Christ of Nazareth looks like. He is fully God and yet was fully man… he that knew no sin, became sin for us (so that we might become the righteousness of God in Christ) died a horrific death on a cross for our sins not for his own sins, went to the grave. And three days later rose again and walked and talked and ate with his fiends and disciples for 40 days before he ascended to sit at the right hand of The Father.
Also Jesus wouldn’t have that demonic statue of kali or whatever that thing is behind Gabor, in his midst.
I like Gabor. He has helped me. But he’s no Jesus Christ of Nazareth. Love you ❤️

Because people fear therapy, and they fear the act of spilling their guts to a quiet, nearly non-responsive 'expert.' In that scenario, one could easily feel judged. He wanted to contrast the interactivity of his Compassionate Inquiry vs. the attentive listening of the therapist. I think it's great that he cuts through the stories because stories are filled with truth and lies, and his point is to help one figure out what is authentic in the present moment.
There are still tons of horrible therapists out there that fall right into that stereotypical category where years go by without any progress being made for the client or the therapist.
I would check out his books and other videos before writing him off.
