Hi friends!! I'm back again with another Sublimation "first" in my journey! Today (or back in September, rather) LOL I unboxed my Epson WF 7720 Printer and converted it from inkjet to sublimation using supplies from Amazon! As always, leave questions down below and any helpful tips if you're already a pro! (heyyo, unintentional rhyme for the win!)

I already have this printer I use for everyday printing. I wish I had thought about buying another 7720 for sublimation, instead of the Ep 2720. I never thought about needing to print larger images. You're right, this printer is a beast!
The 7710 is the same size, also prints 13 x 19
Both are great printers for what you are doing.
Very informative great job😊
is it the same process as the 7720 that she showed here to convert?
This is a fantastic video, thank you so much! Great information and I love being able to see it done. My question is this...You converted from brand new without ever using the inkjet cartridges; however I have had my WF-7720 since right after they first came out a few years ago and of course used only the Epson Inkjet ink cartridges. Would I be able to convert it to sublimation now? Or is it too late because I've only used the inkjet cartridges for a few years with it? Thank you!
You made my job a lot easier. Thank you for the step by step instructions. Much appreciated.
Hi does this still work someone told me there was an update stopping this
You're the best teacher
just checking in did the printer still work were there any other issues with it? ink still flowing not drying up?
That’s was a very detailed procedure and with do and donts explained clearly. Thanks
What other printer will you recommend
Thank you for making these!!! I’m in the process of converting my rosin wf-2750 and your videos were both so helpful! Can’t wait to see the next ones you make!!
Thanks so much for watching!! That’s so exciting, welcome to the sublimation journey! 😁💜
Hello, I don't see the link for the type of empty cartridge that you use. Can you tell me which ones you used?
I'm super excited to start sublimation! Thank you so much for your Canadian products list. Just curious where you got the cute little box cutter? I'm searching for a small yet effective one :)
Does this one have a chip on the cartridge? I saw other videos of WF printers that needed you to replace a chip when you ran out of ink.
Hi. With this do you have to keep changing chips everytime u fill the cartridges
Great Video! This was a great tutorial! I was wondering if you could recommend a smaller printer. This one is way to big to me . Thank you
Wow! Those cartridges held so much more ink than I thought they would hold! Considering how fast my inkjet always ran out of ink, I thought it would be full with 1 syringe full.
Thank you so much for all this information and this was a great tutorial . I can not wait until I get everything I need to start crafting and making a lot of things.
Sublimation only works well for polyester apparel correct .?
Thanks for posting this! So much more easier to watch the process!!! Thanks! Following!
Aggha ha!!!! Thank you for making the perfect instructional video about converting the epson work force 7700's series printer into the much more affordable sublimation printer. I own a sawgrass sg400 and it's great but tile printing for attempting a bigger design forget it you done the right thing period!!! I attempted this about 4 years ago i think it was. And now i think i see what my biggest mistake was i made. There were several but this one that you avoided i think led me to all of my other mistakes except inking it up before i should have since i didn't use it consistently right afterwards like i should have done. Now, the big mistake part about it that you avoided i am going to tell you was DO NOT USE FACTORY INCLUDED INK!!!! Thats where i screwed up!!! I just wished i had watched this 4 years ago so big thank you and thumps up cute woman for this!!! :-) So i wanted to ask you, have you had any issues or problems with this since converting it?
Ahhh thank you SO MUCH for the kind words!! I’m glad you found it helpful! So far I’ve had zero issues with it since September of 2020!
I just make sure to print regularly (even if I don’t need to print something), just to keep the ink flowing through otherwise that can cause issues!
I’m moving out of my house soon so it can be renovated, but I have to bring this beast of a printer with me while I stay in a friend’s basement instead of putting it in storage with the rest of my craft stuff just so I can make sure I print things on it regularly! The things we do for our hobbies LOL
@@TheFoiledPlan Awesome i am grateful to know that. I like it when affordable works. Yeah that model is quite big actually i know what you mean. I think those things we do in this case particularly save us lots of time and hassle and let us enjoy our hobbies!! ;-). I wish sawgrass (ricoh) had more competition this would mean much lower cost but so far i don't see any of the kind that would compel them to lower their prices!! Outrageous okay lol i think it's still like $1600 bucks for even the sg800 AFTER the fact they made the sg500 and the sg1000 which are just refreshes and both of them the same as the two sg400 and sg800 are. That was disappointing of sawgrass but oh well i guess.
@@4THOSEnotEFFECTED Hey, so is it worth it to get a SG 400 or 500?🤔
@@loritaparker4367 Honestly if you want my opinion i would actually go for the Epson F170 it's new saves you lots of money on ink costs you pay like no more than 75bucks and get the entire ink set in 100ml bottles or i know they are close to that plus sawgrass hasn't fully really fixed their software (spm and creative studio) i still had problems even now with that printer going offline even i read in windows 10 it was doing the same thing plus the F170 from epson is 399 bucks same printing size this is epson's new line of sublimation printers they made ..go for that i think you would be much more happier and satisfied - i sold my sawgrass and plan on buying the F170 myself ...
@@4THOSEnotEFFECTED Thanks...what do you think about the Epson ET 4700 I'm currently looking at that one on Amazon as I type
Thanks for the video. I am just looking into sublimation printing on mugs. Can you make a video of you using the printer and then showing the finished product on a mug.
Disregard. I just watched the follow up video. Thanks
i bought this printer about 5 years ago it is unopened still brand new Epson WF 7610 do you think this printer will work as well as the Epson WF 7720 thank you PS if you say yes do you think that ink you got from amazon will work with mine also should i buy that kit for my printer
Hi...could i also use the regular ink. Once im finish with the sublimination inks
Is the easy subli ink the same as the ink you are talking about in the video?
Wonderful video. Explained everything in detail. I enjoyed watching your video as you speak very clearly even non-native speakers understand everything you are talking about. I appreciate that.
My good wishes and prayers for you to grow more in every aspect of your life. I have subscribed your channel.
Did you made any video on cutting rubber sheet/any hard material using cricut machine. If yes, what machine did you use specifically and what settings?
God bless you...God bless Canada !
What printer is best for print and cut vinyl
That was an amazing price!! I paid 250.00 from Office Depot.
Hi I just received my epson 7720WF printer and I am converting this to the sublimation, but I am confused can you help a person that has no clue. I also purchased the same sublimation ink, however, I dont see anything by of cartridge to inject the ink into. Did I miss something? Do i have to purchase the cartridge separate? Any information would be appreciated please and thank you!
Hi have you had any issues with the printer right away? I don’t want to invest in a lot of money also
I think I saw somewheres where you are supposed to turn off updates for the printer if you are converting it to sublimation. Is this true and how do you do this. Also do you have to adjust colour settings for the printer? I just ordered my ink and cartridges through your Amazon page. So excited. Love your videos. Thanks.
Under settings in the local panel in the printer you will find. Also in you software on your computer. There are videos.
I really wish you would have shown the ink and alignment checks. Thank you for showing the Unboxing and ink loading. You make this seem a little less scary.
Just a tip for next time, the syringe would have been able to into the foil seal of the ink container, so that when it runs out you can stick the syringe in and flip the ink upside down to get what’s left
Can you show us how to use it for eco salvent for printerable vinyl
Hey what if the printer has been used for normal ink for a while..can I still change it to sublimation? Or will the inks mix and go yuck
Can you add a link for the sublimation cartridges with reset chip. Thanks!
You explained your conversion process so smoothly, I decided to try to find the printer I bought. I tried researching an epsom xp 4100 but hadn't found any example as good as yours. Do you know if a epsom xp 4100 can be converted? Thank you for any help given.
Wow - I'm just now finding your channel, so this video is a couple years old but I looked up this printer and it is now over $1,000! I think what happened is they realized that people were buying this printer and converting it so they jacked up the price! Now I'm going to have to research a different printer because I'm not paying $1,000 either!
You’re right. I think it’s because they discontinued the model. I got mine at BestBuy about 2 years ago for $200
Great informative video, I enjoyed it very much.
Hi and thank you for sharing...
🤔 Quick question, Does adding the sublimation ink void your warranty?
Yes 😎 but it doesn't mean don't do it. Just means Epson won't help you.
I use a SG800 to do sublimation but I have a couple of Epson 7720 Printers, Thanks for the information.
Hi. I have been doing my research and I want to go with this same printer. However, it seems to be sold out most places. I looked into the Epson Workforce 7210. It is about $100 cheaper but it prints the larger sizes which is what I want. Did you look into that printer at all to provide me your feedback? The only difference I see is that the 7210 does not have the scanner/copier function. Thank you!
Did your regular ink have a chip
Do you have to use a chip resetter on the cartridges every time you refill? I’ll seen some videos that do and some never mention it.
What did you use for white ink?
The sg 500 is a kick ass printer and you can get one for 411.00 right now they are normally around 700
Where did you find it for low price I have only found 700
@@paulamontgomery4734 I will try and find the one I said for 411.00
What size max?
Can’t find a Epson wf-7720. Which newer one can I use?
Hi wondering have you sold the ink already I have the same printer but with regular ink would like to purchase
Hi, would you still recommend this one after having it a while? I was leaning towards the et 8550 and now and deciding between this one and the 15000.
Which did you end up getting? I just got my hands on a used 7720 today on Craigslist, (needs some love to get it going), but I have an ecotank 15000 on order. Just looking for feedback from people that have the 15000 (not sure if you meant XP or ET version). Any clogging issues or incorrect color issues without an ICC profile?
You got a great deal.. seems they are $800 everywhere else? Unless I'm missing something lil
Why you don't use eco tank printer for this. It's easy to use
Hey any update on how its printing?
Would chrome laptop work with the printer or would I need a windows,Mac, or pc?
What store did you purchase it from
Hello have the same printer but I can’t get the colored inks to work, I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong
Even though you change to sublimation, can you still use it to regular print
Hi Netha! You would not use it for regular printing after converting it to sublimation :)
@@TheFoiledPlan Thank you! So you need more than one printer to to multiple things?
@@spiritualgangstergodess5015 yes I use three separate printers depending on the type of project I’m working on :)
@@TheFoiledPlan why 3?
@@spiritualgangstergodess5015 I use a monochromatic laser printer for foiling, an inkjet for regular everyday printing and stickers, and then I use my big converted printer for sublimation. It all depends on what you want to do! :)
If I’ve been using my printer with dye ink for a year, do I need to clean any other areas? Or can I still just swap out the cartridges?
No no no
Finally got a wf7820 after 6 months of being out of stock.. theyre gone as soon as they come in.. great business printers
Can i just say I think I would run the normal ink first to make sure the printer from new is working properly fully functional in all aspects of printing just in case it's not because I think the warrentee would be void by swapping the ink ! once u know it's fine then use the ink still a gamble but at least you can take it back 👍
Don't contaminate the system with regular ink if you plan on a sub conversion. you will have to do several head cleaning cycles to get rid of all of it and may coagulate and ruin the heads. allot of people have done this and there will be no issue. if not return it anyways.
Can this be done with a workforce 2830 series printer?
Hello, are there any other printer by Epson or Hp that I can turn into a sublimation printer?
Seems like I am better of purchasing Epson printer than buying ink for my sawgrass 500. What are your thoughts? How are sublimation inks and prints holding out for you ? And doesn't 7720 print 13" × 19" also?
7840 is what I just bought cause it will print large. Buy it new before converting. No other ink should be in the system. You have to pluck the chips off the genuine epson cartridges for now and buy refillable 802 refill tanks x4. Soon they will have firmware to make your printer think the tanks are always full. Just don’t run out!!
@@Henrymichaelball Replacing Chips not required for 7720 correct? Will you make a video about how to properly replace those chips?
I just got a EPSON 2720 EcoTank I haven’t gotten any ink yet I’m trying to figure out which ink I should get.
Great Video and who thumps down this lady is a dummy ❤️❤️
I have the WF-7710 and the ink is not coming through at all... I have watched numerous vides and tried everything I could think of and nothing seems to work. :(
Hi I brought the same printer for sublimation but when i oven the cup it’s lighter the color in the thumbler do you know why?
Do I update printer or no update
How did the prints turn out on first jobs?
Hi there!! I have a video coming today that goes over my first projects! (Mugs) the printer worked great, I needed practice with the heat though!
So the conversion is just swapping out the cartridges for 3rd party ones filled with sublimation ink? That's way easier than I expected!
Can you keep switching from the normal ink and sublimation ink cartridges depending on the job?
Hi there! No you would need separate printers for that. The specific ink would be throughout the lines of the printer so in order to change ink, you have to clean out the lines and it uses so much ink to get it running properly again
@@TheFoiledPlan that stinks lol. Looks like I'd have a lot of white Sublimation shirts before I could heat press black shirts right? Sorry im new to this and just bought this printer and setup
I refer to these 4 colors as CMYK (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black). I was looking up the printer you got, it is discontinued, probably why it was on sale.
its overpriced now. I wish it was on sale
This has been very helpful. Hi, I’m trying to find Epson WW7720 and it seems to be discontinued. Can you use any Epson inkjet for example the WF 4820 or does it have to be the 7700 series? I’m in Canada as well.
I would love to know this answer also, just watched your video and have found the same info as Annette bowman.
Hi Julie. I ended up buying an eco tank 2760 today from staples
@@annettebowman9230 Hi Annette, did you have to purchase a conversion kit for it? If so where did you get it and also what is the largest size paper you can print on? Thanks!
No matter what I do I CANNOT for the life of me get tray 2 to print 11 x 17 inch paper. I keep getting an error message saying please insert tray 2 correctly. I have reinserted tray 2 repeatedly to no avail!! I'm SCREAMING!!
Since they are cartridges, would you be able to switch cartridges from normal ink to sublimation so you can do both normal prints and then switch and do sublimation later? Im trying to figure out how to do sublimation but not buy 2 seperate printers?
No
I followed everything you did and bought everything you bought can you please tell me why the pics are printing out faded which makes the photo look even worse on the tshirt. They don’t print true to what I see on the computer and I’m wondering if this is the ink jack from Amazon
Hi Kelly! All sublimation designs should be printing out super faded on your paper initially. It takes the heat and pressure to activate them on your substrate. I use the printers jack sublimation ink the I have in my Amazon shop. What type of tshirt are you using? What is it made of?
hey I know i'm late, why this mode, I have to old Epson Artisan the one that dose not look like a printer.
i hi i just brought the sublimation ink and i did all the steps but it doesnt print it print blank do you know what did i miss ?
// You are an awesome instructor, thank you.
You do know you can sublimate with certain copy paper right?
Yes you can sublimate with copy paper, when I have detailed art though, I definitely prefer the sublimation paper!
cant hear the video very well....do you like this printer?pros & cons please..
Do u have a link for sublimation tumblers 20 oz?
Hi I’m trying to start my own business and that printer is a lot. Would the Epson Workforce WF-2830 also work for sublimation?
Hi Carmel! Many people choose the ecotank models as well, I have not used the model you’ve mentioned but I would just make sure that you do your research and make sure you know if you can get the proper cartridges for it (if that model requires cartridges for course) 😁
@@TheFoiledPlan thank you so much. That model is more in my budget I will make sure to do some research
Was just looking online and it seems that this printer is no longer available :( Checked staples and the company that makes these - what do you suggest as a comparable printer that is changeable for sublimination? Looking to start as well - thanks :)
A lot of folks are choosing one of the Epson eco tank models now that the 7720 is discontinued! :)
@@TheFoiledPlan - Thank you :)
Thank you for this video.
Hello can I use my Epson 7620
Where did you get the shelf behind you in beginning
Hi Heather! My craft desk is a Kitchen Island with a drop leaf from Canadian Tire! :)
Hello! Thank you for your video❤️ quick question once you convert into Sub Printer can you still print regular things? Like stickers ? Thank you for your answer ☺️
Hi Daisy! Once you convert it to sublimation, it’s best to use another printer for stickers. The way sublimation inks work, designs print extremely dull and the heat is what makes them vibrant, so printing regular stickers with sublimation ink would look like you were running out of ink because they would look so faded. I hope that makes sense and helps!! 😁💜
Can I cut out a sublimation design on a cricut air 2?
I do not see the link for the empty cartridges
How has printer worked out for you??
So far it’s working really well!!
Anyone know where i can get the wf7720 printer? It us out of stock at staples and won’t come up on Amazon. TIA. ☺️
Can any ecotank printer be converted or just specific models?
Hi Melissa! After doing some lengthy research, long as brand new (no regular ink has been run through it), any ecotank can be used for sublimation!
I was told this printer if not used daily or every letter day, the ink will gunk up and clog. Anyone experienced this? Happened to someone I know and it makes me nervous incase we go on vacation and I can’t print something daily
Hi there! Great instructions! Would you mind sharing your printer settings? Have a 7710, not much difference besides the trays and it's even heavier. My colors are a ting off. What should be hot pink is purple. Kinda' cool, but when I need hot pink, I don't want purple! I have everything else right, but the color is off. Thanks and...KEEP GOING!!! ;o)
Where did you find the epson wf 7720 I have been looking for one they are sold out everywhere
Hi Kimberly!! I found it in store! Woodstock, Ontario Staples. It was the last one they had in store at the time
@@saraboelkens1294 keep checking. I bought one at Staples after months of checking their stores and getting the discontinued notification as well. I just checked my staples and they are still carrying the 7710 which is the same printer just minus the extra tray.
@@CheryleAllene which staples, what city
I just today priced this printer in the US. $699.99 plus almost $100 to ship
Yes I’m not surprised it’s so expensive now, it’s a discontinued model because of its age, I’d recommend going with an ecotank model now :)
Wow Amazon sells the WF7710 for $1951 & the WF7720 for $1923 and you got it for under $300 at staples?! Something wrong with Amazon here! lol
I have found the 7710 at Staples for $249 but out of stock. I am in BC so if you know where I can order one on the cheap please let me know! Thanks :)
Hi frank! The reason it’s so expensive now is because both models are discontinued! Your best bet now is to scoop up an ecotank model, which also eliminates the need to purchase the refillable cartridges! They often go on sale at staples too!
@@TheFoiledPlan Thanks for the quick reply, so you think any eco tank model will do or is there one that you recommend over another since you bought yours?
@@frankabbott2326 the Epson ecotanks are all relatively similar, it just depends on the functionality you need from it. The 2760 and 2720 are both around $400 or less at regular price but go on sale all the time. The only difference between the two, is the more expensive (7260) has the ability to duplex print (print double sided) which is not needed with sublimation anyways, and uses larger bottles so you can fill the tank more (not a game changer in my opinion). From there if you want wide format printing, you’re looking at something like the ET-15000 which is double in price. I have wide format printing capabilities on my WF-7720 and like the knowing I have the option to use it if I need it, because you can buy larger sublimation paper, but I can honestly say I have yet to actually use the wide format printing option. I’ve also been shut down for 5 months while my house is being renovated though so I’ve missed out on a lot of sublimation practice time lol
@@TheFoiledPlan Thanks for the information, the search continues!
Hello, i have one question that i haven't found answer to anywhere, how long can you let the printer off without damaging the print head? You need to print daily / once a week / once a month? Thanks for answer and for your videos! :)
I used to run a 7720 and you need to print daily or you have to clean the heads like 5 times to get it running
No need for such a large workforce printer if you are converting to dye sub,, you won’t need copy or duplex document feeding
Go for the eco tank series ,, try Sublinova inks,, amazing colours,, if you have your product profiled for accurate colour reproduction 🤓
Help! I went to Epson's own website and the 7720 is shown as DISCONTINUED. Is this a bad sign?
Hi Julia! No it’s just a model that has been around for a long time. A lot of people are using ecotank models for sublimation conversion now because they are widely available :)
no its not
I put in my sublimation ink and heard the clicks but the printer is saying do not recognise the cartridges what do I do? Its telling me to put in the original ones that came with the printer
Hi Vivienne! Which cartridges did you purchase? Do they have an auto reset chip for your specific printer?
@@TheFoiledPlan I prob bought the wrong ones. It say inkjet cartridge on the front on a blue label there is a chip on each one aswell. I range the print store and they said I have to set up with the original Epson cartridge and after I might be able to change over.
Hello can you Coventry any inkjet printer to sublimation
I just got a hp inkjet 4650 printer for my daughter and I change it to sublimation
I can only find that printer for $600-700. Is there any other one that might be cheaper.
I just found one on Office Depot. I have to drive 50 minutes to the store and 50 minutes back home though
@@TheEmma6680 oh ok. Im gonna keep checking. I was wondering if Epson Expression Premium XP-7100 would work.
