Love hearing ur thoughts on game tips! Agree for the most part for sure
1) I do like it for small indies or certain games. Like hello games, kind of the OGs of "fixing their game" and love how all updates are free, made it into an incredible game. They're one I wish I could have given them more money! Literally bought their small game "the last campfire" just to support
2) thoughts on if they maybe did donations for dlc but u could pay what u think it deserved? Obviously there'd be some people who would do 1 dollar for something like elden rings dlc but others that loved it and give them 70 for full game experience or something.
3) the negative part to me is how big company's like pre-microsoft Activision or ubisoft or something that would deff find ways to be gross about it. Example: if u donate u get an exclusive mode, or crazy skins or etc. Plus like u guys mentioned "now we don't have to pay our devs as much". Lastly, and a stretch but honestly could see day one releases getting even worse with bugs and content cause "hey we get the money for day 1 release, then we'll just make it better to make people donate because now we look great". I know the more evil stuff seems like a stretch but look at the bs escape from tarkov is doing
Tipping what you feels fair almost just feels like kickstarters though so if they need money like that they could do that like bloodstained which is amazing and the best “castlevania” we’ve gotten recently

❤❤❤good chat on gaming gratuity.. I like the idea of supporting indie games/games on a budget but I agree that the idea of “tipping” a large established developer makes no sense unless I’m promised a DLC or a bonus for supporting the game. Don’t we already have Patreon for this anyway? Donate a certain amount or tier to get some sort of bonus based off the tier you subscribed to. Indie games or budgeted games can add this to their title page or credits…I would support that if I wanted to give additional support.
